reblog if the first musical you listened to was not Hamilton
CAROUSEL, if I’m not mistaken. Dang, that was a while ago.
all we remember from Carousel is "I ain't skeered!" but we remember loving it
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is the first I really remember, but my dad was a high school choir teacher, and I know I was present when he put on productions of Little Abner, Bye Bye Birdie, and South Pacific when I was wee.
Jesus Christ Superstar when I was like 6. Saw it on video and then live with Ted Neely and Carl Anderson (RIP, you'll always be Judas), front row seats because my folks knew someone at the theater. South Pacific was probably next, but maybe Les Mis.
Jekyll and Hyde. The original tour, not the Hasselhoff version. The first I ever saw on Broadway proper was Ragtime.
Might actually be the Broadway version of Beauty and the Beast, which I will count because I went bananas for the original songs.
