Did I ever even post these on here...? Well these are really old but heres some grace expressions and a copy explanation, bc I am thinking about both of them and they are driving me to madness. I struggled for a while with what kind of behavior copy should have as something that is arguably sentient but 0% human. In addition to not understanding factuality like in this image^, I think another big thing is that it would struggle with the difference between itself and others, i.e. not really understanding what "i" vs. "you" means. Hence why it mimics other people so heavily: it literally does not understand that the things people tell it about themselves don't also apply to it. (Kind of like cleverbot if anyone remembers that...........) But mainly i really like the idea of it being super conversational and verbose while not totally understanding how language works or what it's saying. Making it kind of the opposite of lea (who understands language fluently but has difficulty communicating). Yay!

WELL!! A few years later, but this ask managed to pull out this old bad boy from my wips folder.

Anon who are you?? How did you guess the entirety of what me a few years ago was planning to reveal?? How did you end up doing it now. It's incredible. It's putting a massive smile on my face really. The comic is quite rough especially in my eyes now since it's soooo old, but I'm so happy I managed to pull it out anyway.
And gosh.. this will be long, but here is flatly stated what happened with Grey Wind! Pieces or hints of which I remember putting in various places.
Note: This is for my OWN canon of things I planned for the characters in my comics ofc. Not a theory on base rw. And also this is what I remember! Been a bit ^^ It's all sillies and good fun.
Anyway:

Grey Wind was once an iterator called Chasing Wind. She was built around the same time as NSH, who she was probably emotionally closest to. She was an incredibly advanced iterator for time at least with being capable of running an incredible amount of tasks at simultaneously, so her colony was quite proud of her.
This pride would turn a bit sour when...
...somewhere during the making of FP she'd start approaching the problem in a different way the colony didn't agree with. They were very concerned with their iterator and many disagreements would arise on how this problem could be handled. Eventually it'd be decided (not by everyone) they'd mess with her memories and important details of her being during a maintenance to try and set her back into place. This goes terribly wrong.
Wind gets altered in a way that changes fully how she perceives herself and her own memories. As if you were an entirely different person with someone elses memories, data and name. And woke up scared and betrayed.
Wind would try to reconnect with her friends and local group. But would ultimately find herself unable to be or pretend to be the person everyone expected. Comforts that'd she'd recover seemed to ease her less and less, as she began to feel like her own separate person. Self-repairs did nothing to help this.
Eventually Wind would rename herself to Grey Wind and demand be addressed as a different person. Which others did. They hardly had any similarities with Chasing at that point.
Especially with what was about to occur. Grey Wind is incapable of harming any benefactors (all iterators are). But she'd be an iterator who'd actually research how to get past this limitation (unsuccessfully) and in the mean time would do anything possible to ruin the lives of those who lived on her back in the ways she could.
This back and fourth of cruelty was scary to witness from the side and it'd be a very controversial topic between iterators and their parents for a while. Of who did who more wrong. Of how limited should iterators be in what they could do and access?
Regardless Grey would lose most friends. Except for Moons stiff efforts to talk to her. Most others found the grief of speaking to someone who was your dear friend, but not quite too large to bear. Or couldn't respect her actions.
So new relationships, aside rare one-off conversations in anonymous groups, would become impossible to her.
Until UI!
You're very on the money! While everyone else knew of Chasing Wind in the local group, UI didn't. So after the situation with Pebbles, Wind would seek out Unparalleled Innocence to understand her wrongdoings to their neighbor. Knowing how it feels to be misunderstood she wanted to know why UI would do such a thing. And she learns why. And begins to sympathize and get along with this new iterator very well.
On top of this... It was someone who didn't expect her to be anyone but herself. Grey Wind. Chasing Wind was just. Erm someone. Everyone else mourns. Not UI. UI had never even met Chasing Wind. It was a very freeing experience.
So realizing her newfound friend has very little time to stay around hurt. A lot. But despite this we learn that perhaps at least for now it's more important to be there for our best friend than to be angry in their name.
I hope to whoever ends up reading this that it was fun! Yay!

Grey was kind of inspired by GLaDOS, which I think is very funny.
P.S. Innie was then to become an echo that Saint would find! She'd be unable to move on until she feels like the rest of the local group have also found peace as she believes she doesn't deserve it more than they do. That's what I remember at least!

So I like to thing of it as them having a cloud of little black instant matter particles blotting out the sun there. Thereās probably some layer of AR lighting involved in CrossWorlds but it seems to me like they felt it was practical to blot out the sun for real!
