( and Tamlin bashing. Trigger warning XD )

Okay. So in the wonderful world of ACOTAR, the high fae have this beautiful conundrum called a ‘ Mating Bond’ essentially the fact that somewhere, in the big world, there is another High Fae who is literally meant for you to be with. Cushy feelings. Blah blah blah. Of course sometimes the one that you are fated to can be a complete waste of air ( examples: Berons wife, Rhys’s parents, Tamlins parents, etc) but let’s push that aside for the moment and delve right into what the concept of how a mating bond could actually AFFECT in your average High Fae’s daily life.

So a mating bond, of course, is risky already. You could spot your mate when you are 17 years old or 1300 years old. There is no set time estimate. And that’s if you even FIND them before you die. It already sounds kinda iffy. But okay... if that’s how it goes, then I won’t argue it. The cosmos deciding that one persons mate dies in a war before they even find each other : super sad and angsty but that’s just how the dice fall I guess. I will allow that to just be.

But here is my ( yet another issue ) with Tamlin the Tampon and his thought processes. So, after they all got out of Under the Mountain, and Feyre had to get used to her new super strength Fae bod, never was there a MOMENT where anything sparked between Tamlin and Feyre. They were both fucked up from what happened, Tamlin was a piece of shit for ignoring Feyre when she woke up with those PTSD nightmares, etc etc. ANYWAYS.

My question is as follows : What. The. HELLLLLLL was going through Tamlins mind during this ENTIRE fucked up situation of control and silence and a super terrible attention span to Feyre’s scary AF weight loss to make him decide “ let’s get married” like... HOLD UP. Why are you even MARRYING her? You say that the mating bond still needs to snap into place? When did you become a god and decide who your mating bond was going to be with? Like what kind of fucked up mentality out of pity did you just decide to marry her?

Like in a world where you only have ONE mate that can show up at ANY TIME. Including the possibility of just never crossing paths did you decide to marry a High Fae that has no sign of a mating bond even existing ? Like what if you are married for 250 years, have three kids and suddenly “ Oh damn. Hey, Feyre, sorry boo but you gotta get out? My mate just showed up and well I don’t love you like I love her so pack your things and get out?”

I just ... I’m just shocked at the control he wanted over her so badly that he completely threw the possibility of one of them finding their mates out the window. Like... holy fucking hell. Don’t get me wrong, if I was a High Fae and I knew I was going to hopefully someday meet my One Mate that was destined for me I would NEVER get too serious. I’d have a fuck buddy or so. Maybe I’d even live with a man or woman for a few hundred years and develop a close bond. But marriage and kids would be off the table until I found my mate just for the very reason of what Tamlin could have almost put himself into.
