āThe female writers, for whatever reason (men?), donāt much believe in heroes, which makes their kind of storytelling perhaps a better fit for these cynical times. Their books are light on gunplay, heavy on emotional violence. Murder is de rigueur in the genre, so people die at the hands of othersālovers, neighbors, obsessive strangersābut the body counts tend to be on the low side. āI write about murder,ā Tana French once said, ābecause itās one of the great mysteries of the human heart: How can one human being deliberately take another oneās life away?ā Sometimes, in the work of French and others, the lethal blow comes so quietly that it seems almost inadvertent, a thing that in the course of daily life just happens. Death, in these womenās books, is often chillingly casual, and unnervingly intimate. As a character in Alex Marwoodās brilliant new novel, The Darkest Secret, muses: āTheyāre not always creeping around with knives in dark alleyways. Most of them kill you from the inside out.āā

why isnāt anyone allowed to be wrong anymore? itās okay to be wrong. no one should be terrified of every tiny little mistake they might make. being wrong, and realizing you were wrong, is how you learn and grow and change.
wait,,, so you're a gryffindor, love taylor swift and books? can we be best friends pls??
yes ofc duh
I lived in cornwall for a year and I used to get in my car and drive. I often ended up in a small coastal towns that you could only get to by country roads. And one time I was going to this place that is EXACTLY like ur post described. I was blaring the pixies and zooming down empty roads. I'd spend the day exploring these villages, beaches, gardens and cliffs and the locals were always super friendly and wanted to know what I was doing. They always had very nice gardens, semi-tropical shit
wowww that sounds like a dream!

hey I'm so sorry to bother u; u can totally ignore this if you want but I was wondering ant ur experience w the college process? I'm a junior and I'm rly stressing out lol. do u have any tips to fight stress? also if u don't mind me asking where r u looking? I'm worried that bc my grades freshman and sophomore year were mediocre that'll hold me back from the schools I like as they're weighing my gap down :/
my first piece of advice for the college application experience is do NOT write off colleges in the very beginning, go in with an open mind and the attitude that you will be happy anywhere, because itās true (the college is what you make of it) and will save you a lot of disappointment in the long run. you might see people getting into places like the ivy leagues, or schools that you wish you could go to, but thereās no one path to success. someone who goes to harvard is no more likely to be successful than you are, and a lot of your happiness is based on HOW you measure success - itās not how much money you have, but how content you are with your life. donāt look at going to a school you had as your āsafetyā as a disappointment, because itās not! itās probably a great place where youāre going to have an amazing time.
colleges donāt only look at your grades. yes, they are an important factor, but they want to see your extra curriculars, that youāre a well-rounded, interesting person whoās going to bring a unique perspective to their school. do some research and find schools you think you could get into that seem to fit your personality/that you would like. once again, itās SUPER important to keep an open mind.
the admissions process can feel really tiring, and there was definitely a point where i was completely disillusioned by it, but once you know where youāre going itās the best feeling in the world. so do research, donāt stress about little things like grades you canāt change, and keep an open mind!
also, about fighting stress: you are going to feel kind of stressed sometimes, but try not to let it consume you. take a step back whenever you can. start your applications in the summer so that you at least have a LITTLE bit down before you start having to do apps & homework at the same time. try not to fall into the bubble of constant college talk - it will seem like it's all people want to discuss, but it can be really detrimental to revolve your entire life around the process. savor your high school moments!
I can't believe you're alive
