❝ i’m hungry. ❞ although far from her first rodeo , she could already tell syanne had inherited her father’s appetite. usually , when she gorged herself to uncomfortable fullness satiety would last days. at least, when it came to her more monstrous appetite --- but it had barely been an hour since she'd last eaten ( some unfortunate hitchhiker ) and already her stomach, only just beginning to show, demanded more.

maybe taking the scenic route hadn't been such a good idea after all.

silence greets them as they step out of their stolen car. an eerie stillness in the air making her hair stand on end. there didn’t seem to be anyone with a pulse for miles. no wildlife. nowhere for her to replenish the snacks she’d already eaten. only the dead , and the memories they’d left behind. judging by the state of the rusted gas pump in front of her , life had moved on, from what could barely be considered a town, though ghosts it had a plenty, long ago.

she finds satisfaction in seeing how the earth reclaimed what man had sullied, regardless of her own predicament.

her eyes are made all the more unsettling by the light of the blood moon. it reflects off the water's surface , staining her red, as she wades closer. damp hair clings to her body, like silk draped over her bare, tattooed shoulders. with interest, she watches him struggle with something unseen , something violent and gnawing and never satisfied. it tears at him without remorse, demanding it’s pound of flesh no matter the agony, no matter the cost. it’s claws sunk in so deep she can see the scars etched into his bones, though she doubts many cared to notice.

lira is not so inattentive , she sees what many lacked the mental fortitude to understand. the truths they feared.

❝ — it coils inside you like a great serpent , awaiting it's next opportunity to strike --- but no matter how much you feed it, it will never be sated. ❞ the pain , the want , never truly subsided - she knows hunger well, has gorged herself to sickness many a time. fueled by the need to fill her mouth to the brim , to choking, with sinew and ichor. if only to feel bones bend and break between her powerful jaws.
