I did the HAIRY FEET WAITOMO TOUR - the filming location for the first Hobbit where they loose the ponies, encounter the trolls, find the troll hoard and Sting, meet Radagast and are chased by Orcs and Wargs.

I got to take the car for a trip on my own, from Christchurch to Greymouth (I picked up a hitchhiker in the first five minutes on the road though) and we passed Castle Hill (more rocks!) Arthur’s Pass and hiked to the Devil’s Punch Bowl Falls.

Oamaru was both great and somewhat disappointing? Not sure I will stop there again on my second trip around the South Island. The Portal (the last three pics) at the Steampunk HQ was awesome though
