Finally came around and did a sketch of my version of Pye again!!
I always imagined that Pye's intuition was very good. I personally have this headcanon that she felt uneasy/unnerved by the Interloper, but couldn't tell for sure why she felt that way... And that really bothered her
The 2026 Gender Census is now open!
[ survey.gendercensus.com ]
The 13th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 13th August 2026.
It’s short and easy, for most participants it takes 5 minutes or less.
After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.
If you think you might have friends and followers who’d be interested, please do reblog this blog post, and share the survey URL by email or at AFK social groups or on other social networks. Every share is extremely helpful!
Survey URL: https://survey.gendercensus.com
The survey is open to anyone anywhere who speaks English and feels that the gender binary doesn’t fully describe their experience of themselves and their gender(s) or lack thereof.
Thank you so much!
[ Link to survey ]
The survey has been open for about 7.5 hours, and there have been about 2,500 responses so far. :)
I haven't sent out the mailing list email yet, but I'm about to get to that. That usually bumps things up significantly... 😰
In the mean time, please enjoy this public spreadsheet of incoming participation statistics!
A quick and easy nonbinary name survey
[ Click here to participate ]
It's open until 19th July 2026, and it's open to anyone whose gender(s) (or lack thereof) defy the restrictive binary of male/female.
Reblog for SCIENCE~~~
See some incoming stats and links to help with promotion here.
8 hours down and we're meandering towards 2,000 responses (and over 3,000 names) on this survey aimed at nonbinary people, about the given names and nicknames we like to go by. :)
It's been getting about 2 responses per minute for the last couple of hours.
ngl i was genuinely expecting something like this

GRABS you by the THROAT. stop using "narcissistic", "slow", "depressed", "bipolar", "schizophrenic" and the literal R slur (i'm not saying it.) etc etc etc as insults. I don't care if you're neurodivergent and doing this you're still an ableist prick

I think I speak for everyone in this fandom when I say that we need Black writers back in the writer’s room.
The Black writers for seasons 1-2 of IWTV were Ben Philippe, David B Harris, and A. Zell Williams.
These are the men responsible for providing substance and depth to the Black characters in the first two seasons, mainly Louis and Claudia. They knew how to tackle struggle, injustices, history, rage, pain, and the ugly truth of American and European Black history. They didn’t pull punches with the hard stuff and they knew how to work with the soft stuff.
Season 3 tried to create edgy content and humor without these men and absolutely failed at it in every way possible. And they have failed both Louis and Claudia.
The Black jokes about Louis being “Louisiana Fried Chicken”, Louis continuing to be the pimp and needing his White savior that is Lestat, Claudia’s entire monologue about Louis being a literal slave to Lestat in that old Louisiana accent. And not to mention the complete erasure of Lemuel after only a couple episodes.
It’s not working.
If there’s gonna be Black actors on screen, there needs to be Black writers in the writer’s room.
28 year old tumblr users will look at you and say do you remember thwomp day of 2013 when everyone was posting thwomp from mario 64 in different audio

i. enjoy. having. fun
That “cringe” nonbinary xenogender genderfuck therian who uses neopronouns and may or may not go on HRT while being loudly, proudly themselves will always be more revolutionary and subversive than a binary trans person who aggressively reproduces the cis status quo and shames anyone who doesn’t do the same.

morose code I communicate in short and long sighs
Making Claudia into a one dimensional lying angry black woman stereotype when she had a cold righteous rage that simmered through all of her injustice is just so disheartening. Her complex relationship with her parental figures was so nuanced where love, respect, disappointment, and resentment merged into a special highlight of the show. A strange rant where she's inexplicably racist and hateful to Louis over the man she compared to a literal tyrant slave owner feels so off. She has the right to be angry at them both but the implication that Louis was the worst person to her serves nothing other than the writer's agenda to discount the beauty of s1 and 2.
I really understand the anger with how the character is being bc it’s seems fast changing.
But I don’t want to be the person to say that they are keeping it like the book, but they very much are.
This is just a paragraph of a diary page from Claudia in the books, of her planning to kill Lestat:
“Perhaps in the court of my heart, I hold Louis far more accountable for my present state than ever I could blame my impulsive and simple Lestat. The fact is, one must die for this or the pain in me will never be scaled off, and immortality is but a monstrous measurement of what I shall suffer till the world revolves to its ultimate end. One must die so that the other will become ever more dependent upon me, ever more completely my slave. I would travel the world afterwards; I would have my way; I cannot endure either one of them unless that one becomes my servant in thought, word, and deed.”
She was always in the books a liar, calculating and evil child. And she saw Louis as the easiest one to manipulate, but she respected Lestat more.
I think that the writer are having a lot of difficulty translating the books materials into these new characters, yes. But the scene sadly is very much Claudia of the books.
As a VC book reader, the issue is that it’s fine for blonde white book Claudia to say this about white slave owning book Louis. It’s an inversion of his mortal role and shows how completely vampirism collapses those old meanings. But once Rolin purposefully decided to make Louis and Claudia black, different signifiers and themes became important. We know that Claudia resented and at times hated Louis. We know that she was the ‘evil of Lestat’s evil’. But we also know that she and Louis shared the bond of being two black people in a home (and world) where their blackness forever rended them other. They had a kinship. They also grew up in a time where slavery was in living memory.
There is no world where black Claudia, very specifically black Claudia, with her 4c hair and white girlfriend, would call Louis a nappy-headed slave. There is no world where black Claudia would say that she hated him more than her white rapist, something added to the show (which I’ve always said was a mistake). This was actually a change from the book that should have been made because it spits in the face of both characters.
Claudia was the perfect vampire, and the most flawed vampire because she was the child that should have never been turned. It made sense that book ghost Claudia, a woman forever trapped in a doll body, would want to rage and kill Louis on sight. But once she becomes a black teenaged woman-child, sorry, but you have to handle that rage and vengeance and spite with more nuance.
It frustrates me that non-black fans are ignoring that race and how it intersects with queerness, class and vampirism has always been at the heart of this series. And why would the writers care about book accuracy now when they’ve been happy to shit on most of TVL’s themes, characterisation and plot for this entire season. They didn’t. And if they thought they could have gotten away with having Claudia call Louis the n-word, they would’ve done.

i think censoring subtitles is actually ableism
