Just started Black Sails. why didn't anybody tell me the series everybody told me was good is good

black sails season 2 is the best season of television ever made. in a single episode you have civil war breaking out among the pirates and politics being reinvented by people who’ve divorced themselves from civilization. the b plot is polyamory drama not dissimilar to the kind that can be found on bravo tv and features crazy lesbian sex but also some guy is there. interspersed in all of this are flashbacks of one of the most beautiful and tragic queer love stories you’ve ever seen. and to top it all off, billy bones comes back from the dead. the perfect show in every way

Just binge-watched basically all of Black Sails in one weekend. show of all time... it really has it all...morally bankrupt cringefail women, gratuitous sex and violence, horrible throuples, unethical polyamory, sir percival from merlin, the inherent evil of colonialism, powdered wigs, toxic yuri, doomed yaoi...what more could you ask for...?

black sails is like my ideal show in terms of gay characters bc the gay women are fucking and sucking constantly and engaging in dyke drama that amounts to playing 5d chess blindfolded and the gay men are playing repression olympics and exclusively pining and mourning and yearning from afar and always reaching for what they can’t (or won’t let themselves) have. like exactlyyyyyyyy

anne bonny the character of all time. she’s one of the deadliest people in the show. she’s soul-tied to the 18th century pirate version of a rat terrier. she comes to grips with being gay only after committing double homicide about it. she probably bites. she deeply needs to be known and loved. she cannot bear being known and loved. she’s a ginger.
