spring morning with oatmeal, chai, journals, and my current read
remember real football is back next year
Summer!! Despite the heat I’m so happy to be here. I’m reading for my own enjoyment and at my own pace. I’m not rushing to be anywhere or do anything. I wish life could always be this sweet
The USA will rally a thousand kids from different ethnicities to sing about love on the World Cup and then brutalize brown and black kids all year long

Mural in Dartford, UK commemorating the Spanish Revolution which broke out 90 years ago, on 19 July 1936, in response to a military coup, the workers and peasants of Spain rose up, launching a general strike. By acting quickly, they defeated the military in most major cities.
But they didn’t stop at putting down the coup. Roughly two million workers kicked out their bosses and took control of the economy.
It was a social revolution. Decisions were made by assemblies of workers in their workplaces and executed by committees elected from the shopfloor.
Mansions were turned into communal dining halls, schools, warehouses, and free medical centres. Thousands of useless capitalist jobs were abolished. Unemployed workers helped share the workload in necessary industries. In some cases, this meant the work day could be shortened.
In 1939, Franco’s army won and established a dictatorship. When he died, Spain transitioned back to an ordinary parliamentary system.
But the Spanish Revolution wasn’t defeated because ‘communism doesn’t work’. It was destroyed by international isolation and counter-revolutionary politics. The moderate socialists opposed revolution and capitalists around the world preferred fascism to anarchism. This scared CNT leaders into convincing workers to stop the revolution half way, leaving some power in the hands of the old capitalists and government.
Meanwhile, the Liberals and the Stalinists sabotaged the revolution. They centralised control, arrested and murdered anarchists, and then lost the war after taking power.
The anarchists had been well organised industrially. But they needed better political organisation to keep the movement on a revolutionary path. They also needed to support anti-colonial struggles in Morocco, where Franco was getting troops.
Still, 90 years on, the Spanish Revolution stands as one of the most inspiring moments in history. It’s proof that workers can run society, without bosses or government control. The real lesson is that, next time, we can’t stop half way.

Mornings like this🤍 Oat-milk is officially my favorite for coffee
Week 75, Tuesday, June 23, 2026 🧪
I’m so tired; I feel like I’m just scraping by. I’m not getting enough sleep and have to handle a lot of things for graduation. I can’t manage to study, and that makes me even more frustrated. But it’s just a phase—it’ll pass.
I start a new job tomorrow and have been coping by exploring cafes in my new town and reading what brought me so much joy in childhood, classic fantasy with Mercedes Lackey’s Magic’s Pawn. My first job since graduating with my Master’s!
still working on my literature review! today i'm reading literature on emotions and decision-making.
i'm so excited for later this summer; i'm going on two beach trips with my cat and it'll be her first time at the beach! she's getting old so i want to bring her along on my travels a little more since she loves getting out.

a couple more lazy weeks left in my hometown, but things are starting to speed up again – making my packing list, decluttering my childhood bedroom, and officially enrolling as a graduate student.
Thesis diaries: So I spent the last few weeks reading about misinformation from a psychological standpoint… I thought reading a lot would solidify my choice, but now I’m increasingly doubting the direction I’m going with my thesis. At least I started early so there is time to switch if needed!
