I want to talk about goals today. Because, you guys, goals change. This may not be news to you, but it was news to me! Our oldest daughter turned 3 in June, and I realized that Joel and I had not talked about what our goals were in at least that 3 years amount of time. And boy had they changed! Reflecting back I realized how my goals for my life had changed so dramatically since being single, to being married and to now, as a parent of two! And to be honest, I don’t really know what my goals were when I was single…to survive? To be able to pay rent and not get overdrawn and buy food! When we got married, our goals really stayed pretty simple then, too. Save money to go on trips, pay rent, don’t get overdrawn, and have fun! I would have to say it was probably when I found out I was pregnant that my goals started to take shape. I became more career driven. I needed a good job that had benefits and retirement. I started to think more about my future and my family’s future. You guys, life happens. Things happen that we have no control over. And it wasn’t until I had this little human inside of me that I really realized that I needed to start thinking more clearly about things. Some people naturally have this drive and ambition, for me it took being responsible for this little person for me to see and realize I needed to make some changes. And those changes, have been non-stop!!! But, even though the changes have been non-stop and we have been rolling with them as they happen, we haven’t stopped to think about or update our goals formally. It wasn’t until recently. We started to talk about starting our own Young Living Essential Oil business. We wanted to get the benefits of using the oils at a discounted price, and let’s be honest, why not make some extra money in the process. And, also, one of my favorite parts of it…so share these healthy products with you all! It took us a few months of talking about it on and off and finally we made the dive into it, and we couldn’t be happier.
Our goals changed because we wanted to create a toxic free household. We had been gifted Young Living Essential Oils when our oldest daughter was born, and we have been loving them since that moment! Our goals changed when we started to talk about having extra income for our family. To help save for life moments, to possibly have one of us stay home at one point, or work part time. Our goals have and will continue to change, but I challenge myself and I challenge you to talk about your goals regularly and see how they change and change with them. Take on challenges to improve the life for yourself and your family, as you see fit. Know that life happens, and prepare for what life will throw at you. Enjoy your time with family and friends. And share your stories with others. Your story can change someone’s life. And, you guys, just be awesome in each day. Live each day with love. We are so lucky to be here…don’t forget how much you are loved.
