Yet another good reason to mask. Higher quality respirators work much better than the surgicals the article discusses, too, just like with respiratory diseases.
Magical Allergies
Spring is coming and it got me thinking about how i'm going to deal with suffering when the snow melts. So naturally I wanted to know how I could incorporate allergens into my homebrew world.
What if you could be allergic to magic like people are allergic to pollen. The moment a spell is cast and magic fills the air you hate your life. The spell doesn't even have to be harmful or directed towards you. Makes living in a magic-reliant society quite a bit annoying!
What about the different tolerances? Some people are more allergic to certain types of pollen and other allergens, why would it be any different with an allergy to magic?
People who are allergic to specific spells, sneezing every time a Necromancy spell is cast or breaking out in hives whenever they cast a Transmutation spell-
What about health potions that act as allergy medication?
This actually sounds horrible now that I think about it. Do with this information what you will.
What other kinds of magical allergies could there be?
In other big news today... I found out I have a pretty bad dust mite allergy.. and probably more allergies to fragrances and the like.
The dust mite allergy makes a lot of sense and explains a lot of my health history, but it's also a difficult allergy to treat. I also have a delayed type reaction, which my doctor explained is actually more severe and dangerous.
Hopefully my disability waiver is able to cover dust removal cleaning to help me get better. I also have a home health consult tomorrow (a bit nervous for that.. it's my first time using these services).
I've also been in a flare the past 2 days. It really sucks because I have many responsibilities I can't ignore right now. I'm worried I put too much on my plate with my schooling again, but I can't drop any classes or I could be suspended from my college. Life is hard.
I don't want to push past my flare up, but I don't really have any other options. I hate living in a world that is not made for me, in more ways than one.
The good though is my new cat, and new health knowledge.
If anyone has any tips regarding dust mite allergies or studying despite being in a flare up I'd love to hear them. My blog is always a place where everyone can share their own experiences.
I'm gonna get some reading in while I get sleepy for the night, goodnight and wish me luck tomorrow! 🩷
Meet Mel the Monkey 😁
My nephew has a severe peanut allergy and was the inspiration for Inclusive Animals!
When my children were born, I wanted to educate them about allergies but it felt there was nothing out there to help do this through play (which is how children learn best!)
The idea of a plush toy range came to me about 6 months ago, and I have been building the range since then.
The plan is to launch character books after the successful plush toy launch in the first half of his year.
If you are interested in supporting the Kickstarter, please sign up for updates on the website www.inclusiveanimals.com 😁 Please share this with friends and family as well, your support means a lot!

I'm taking a "coffee, carbs and couch" recovery day 😁.
Ok, so I did a pretty decent resistance band workout this morning after breakfast, but that was "work" with an online client.
But apart from that, and a short, half hour walk to the local fruit and veg shop (via the park, where I literally picked up some fallen apples), I'm taking the rest of the day off.
But that doesn't mean bad quality food. The nutritional density remains as good as ever.
Chicken drumsticks with my lunch salad today.
I'm trying new things since going down this rabbit hole of recent dietary restrictions.
Oh, I definitely have to mention the fact that yesterday was literally the best day in relation to "the mucus thing" that I've ever had since it got to the chronic stage. No big flare ups. Just hovering in the background at a very low level. That NEVER happens.
I had a pretty bad flare up this morning, but it didn't last very long, maybe only half an hour. I definitely call that progress!
