“never kill yourself” is such a funny phrase to me that i think it’s accidently started working. its like an affrimation. say ‘never kill yourself’ enough times as a joke and maybe you won’t try to kill yourself over minor inconviences anymore

Anyone got a bad proposal story? I wanna see how my exes proposal compares
They proposed to me and midnight over text while I was sitting on my parents couch, we hadn’t even been dating we’d had a situationship going on for months and after a really bad day for both of us they admitted they’d got a ring from the thrift store and proposed
I'm not going to fuck my computer

Are you a feminist?
Yes, very openly and determinedly an intersectional feminist since day one. 👍🏼 Which you will discover quickly if you follow me because I cannot shut up about it.
The urge to reply to this ask with nothing but "nah I'm just really into larping" called to me like a cop's gun in the holster and I wish (just a little) that I was less concerned about actually answering questions cause that would've been funny as shit ngl.

Chloe is it just me or is emotionally abusing your children in England so normalised… like the amount of parents i hear calling their kids stupid to their face or deliberately upsetting them…
hesitant to say it’s a uniquely english thing tbh im sure it’s widespread in some form or fashion everywhere esp in like , underprivileged communities. or there’s a certain nuance to it when it comes to underprivileged communities I guess is what im saying. but i do know what you mean 100%. and experienced the callousness a lot growing up in a like , very english way for lack of a better term … just the blatant coldness , rudeness , lack of allowance for emotion. esp with older family members, the level of just like. meanness you have to swallow and be ok with, even if theyre providing for you in other ways, like buying you clothes and toys and shit. and the deliberately upsetting them really sticks out to me. idk which area you grew up in or what it was like but for a while as kids my sister and i lived as sort of an extension of my mothers social life / addiction to alcohol , there was a lot of catty drama between her and her friends who stayed over at our place that we were often involved in and as seen as “the cause of”, particularly with their own kids … a lot of mocking and cruelty and manipulation came along w that, and then with my more stable grandparents, a different form of mocking and cruelty and manipulation. also just in general though. not saying any of that to sound victimy either it was not a unique situation at all - my friends had it worse at home a lot or the time even, and like you say, it was just normalised
Obligatory reminder that Latinos don't come in one race, and neither is it a race in itself.
Just like in North American history: there's indigenous people, the land was colonized by white people, black people were enslaved and forcefully brought over, Asian immigrants come in later on, so on and so forth. This also happened in the rest of the continent.
Some latinos are white passing, that's true. But some latinos, many latinos, are just white, descendants of colonizers from Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Croatia and so on. With many of those families marrying eachother to keep the profits inside European elites, as rich people do.
Many of us don't read as Poc, because we're not, and lumping us with people of color ignores all the baggage still left from colonial times, like the fact that afro styles are still considered "bad hair" in many places, or that indigenous, andean features are considered ugly, or that people still say we gotta "mejorar la raza" (improve our race). Not to mention police brutality against indigenous and black communities.
Lumping all of us together as one single race is why we have white, white passing and mixed latinos saying "I can't be racist, we're all mixed here" without engaging any further into the evidence that shows 1. we're not all mixed, and 2. even if we were colorism is still a thing. Don't be part of that!
I see often that whenever white latinos are brought up as a privileged group, someone goes "they're not white, they're latinos!" when I promise you just because a white person has a tan and a Spanish surname it doesn't erase the fact that we came from the European continent, privilege and all. It is not a coincidence that most of the Latin actors you see on your TV are lighter skin. Sofia Vergara doesn't need you to defend her! she's fine, I promise.
I wish there was some way to properly express my frustration when I see people make constant jokes about "ragebaiting Mexicans/PR/etc by calling them Latinx" because not only are they using it as a way to further put down brown people and frame them as "outdated/stupid" and "politically incorrect" but it also does the inverse where it makes fun of them because they're (rightfully) upset with you for using a term they don't want you to use. Latinx is an American term, it was coined/popularized by english speaking online spaces in the US while completely ignoring the fact that Latinx is barely pronounceable in spanish, AND the actual queer grassroots movements started by Latine groups. There's this overall violent presence with Americanized (white) queers and how they attempt to enforce their colonialist mindsets on other parts of the world (and also their own non-white communities) because it's seen as "more progressive" and that the Black and brown people need "educating" and I'm so so tired of it.
If someone identifies as Latinx, that’s their prerogative, but it does not give people the right to apply it to our community as a whole. It has a 2-4% popularity rating among US Latinos that is actively dropping. I don’t even understand why it’s a debate.
It’s very frustrating to see white queer people understand people’s rights to dictate their own labelling until it comes to brown people not liking a term that is linguistically imperialistic. Please do not call my community by labels that we can’t even pronounce in our mother tongues
Don't assume Latinos are POC
It needs repeating that Latino is not a race. It's a geographic, cultural, linguistic and politically relevant term for people from Mexico to Argentina, NOT a phenotype or a racialization. Black latinos like Amara la Negra exist, white latinos like José Antonio Kast exist, indigenous latinos like Rigoberta Menchú exist, Asian latinos like Keiko Fujimori exist.
Each country has its own race dynamics and applying the POC label to white latinos like myself who never had to endure systemic racism is both inaccurate and wrong. You may see Latinos who look stereotypically Spanish like Sofía Vergara, Guillermo del Toro and Rachel Zegler and count them as diversity in media, and that's okay if your criteria is culture, but NOT if it's racial diversity. These 3 people could be classified as POC in rural America, but none of them were racialized as POC back home. They are white people, white latinos, and that matters because we NEVER hear from Latinos of other backgrounds.
Afrolatinos have just gotten some attention in the past few years, Indigenous latinos are STILL fighting to preserve their languages, land, religion and other traditions, Asian latinos are literally never brought up at all despite having huge communities in Perú, Chile and Brazil.
It's always possible a Latino is white passing, but some latinos are JUST white. Don't count media as diverse just because it has white latinos in it, we have enough of that already.

in the what now
