something ive been turning around in my head for a while now but haven't fully put into words is the timing of house quitting therapy. he basically pitches a fit about nothing in his life going his way and storms out, and then within days is "rewarded" (in a psychological sense, i don't mean to objectify her) by entering a relationship with cuddy. i feel like that just kind of solidified the Therapy Bad idea in his brain, instead of him realizing that therapy is in large part what allowed him to begin healing/remain sober/etc, and that just COMPLETELY fucked him over. basically today i am arguing that house's true point of no return was actually at the end of 6x21 (or perhaps 6x22),

timing wise, i think that cuddy asking out house is one of the worst possible things that could have happened to him... thinking about how a cornerstone of our mental health recovery has been learning how to deal with bad things happening. idk.

thinking about how the team searched both amber's and thirteen's apartments, and at amber's, they found diet pills, amphetamines, ssris, and a sex tape, while at thirteen's, they found . . . an asthma inhaler.

amber hides the ways she's hurting herself because her extreme self-confidence disguises the depths of her insecurity while thirteen hides the way she's taking care of herself because she fears any show of vulnerability, no matter how insignificant. (she does the same thing with the drug trial regimen.)

amber uses licit drugs, but her drug use is clearly A Problem, considering she hides them even from wilson, while thirteen uses illicit drugs but sparingly enough that the drugs are not really a problem, just an accessory to the real problem. amber operates within The System (i doubt she's ever had so much as a parking ticket) but her commitment to rule following is so intense as to be concerning in itself. and thirteen is agnostic as to legality/rules such that her behavior (illicit drugs, young woman sleeping around, even euthanasia) raises the question of whether the viewer sees it as wrong because it is wrong or just because it's socially sanctioned.
