Half the backlash to fat lib content essentially boils down to "I can't believe you're FORCING me to not be mean to you"

hot statistics tip: if two traits, A and B, are uncorrelated, then you're going to be able to find a bunch of individuals who have A and B at the same time anyway purely by random chance. If you then ignore every case of "A but not B" and "B but not A", the magic of confirmation bias will make you think they are correlated anyway.

even hotter statistics tip: if there's a third variable C and you don't account for it in the analysis of A and B at all, there's a chance you get the wrong relationship between A and B entirely. absolutely scalding statistics tip: your choice of variables might not reflect the actual structure of the data you're looking at, and instead may very well be a source of bias that you'll need to deal with. we call this "help we're never going to get people who bounced off math in high school to even start thinking about coordinate transformations oh no this is hell"

nuclear statistics tip: raw stats with no investigation into the underlying mechanisms causing them will always result in problems with interpretation. there is no way around this. "correlation is not causation" tells half a story and the other half is that finding causation is a grueling task that you can't do with statistics alone. sometimes statistics are rendered completely useless because you Simply Know How Stuff Works. sometimes you need the statistics because the process is inherently somewhat stochastic. all knowledge is imperfect and yet those most mobilized by this idea are also the ones whose knowledge is the closest to wrong.

I love how I see this as “a post you might like!” and without even processing the relics I was like “oh look, it’s the IPRE crew!” based solely on the silhouettes. A+ shapes OP.
