White people will straight up block out or ignore facts about racism when those facts don’t let them escape the responsibility they have to unlearn as much racism as they can. Like y’all are still out here being in denial about shit that has been proven time and time again by black activists and scholars and that isn’t helping anyone.
Y’all need to get it through your heads that when you are born into a white supremacist society, that does indeed make you inherently racist. Our brains are programmed to engage in othering, which is a process that helped humans early on with our survival. Othering is also where racism comes from. Our white supremacist society manipulated this function in our brains, making racism become part of how you form thoughts and process information. This process starts in the womb, since what pregnant people experience while pregnant affects their fetuses. So while racism in and of itself is not a biological part of our brains, it does involve a process that is an inherent part of our brains. When you consider all of these things, the conclusion is that y’all are inherently racist and being in denial about it doesn’t make it stop being true.
This does not make white people inherently bad or evil as this is something that happens out of your control. You are not bad unless you decide to do nothing to combat the racism that’s inherent in you once you become aware of it.
Their duality,,,,

The concept of transgender eggs is so funny like sometimes you meet a cis person that you’re 97% sure is going to realize they are trans in the next 5 years. But you can’t tell them because that would violate the prime directive.
Okay, in regards to the tags and comments. An egg is someone who shows indications they may be transgender but are not aware they are yet. It has nothing to do with the person’s appearance and everything to do with their comfort in being their birth gender.
A man who wears dresses and makeup is not necessarily an egg. A masculine woman is not necessarily an egg. Someone who says things like “I wish I had been born [OPPOSITE ASSIGNED GENDER AT BIRTH].” or “Somedays I just don’t feel like [ASSIGNED GENDER AT BIRTH].” may be an egg. Often people who are in the closet will go the opposite direction and attempt to perfectly conform to their birth sex. I’m a trans man and I went through a long hyperfeminine phase.
You should never tell someone “I think you’re transgender.” it is rude and presumptuous and will often drive them further into the closet. If you think someone you know is an egg, you can try subtly working in conversations about your own experiences with your gender identity. You can also invite them into LGBT spaces if they’re game. Helping a person understand that being transgender is fine and good and that being trans is not a miserable experience but is something to be celebrated is always more helpful than telling them what you think their gender is. You’re not obligated to help people you think are eggs but treating them with subtlety and giving them space is the best thing you can do.
I live my life under the basic principle that people know their minds, bodies, genders, and orientations better than I do so I just take them at their word when they say they are a thing.
“But people could be faking for-” I don’t care. I would rather show someone a kindness they don’t need than not show them one they do.

oh good we finally got there
THIS IS MY FAVORITE THING EVER
It got better!!!
I want to preface this by saying this is not victim blaming. This not calling people online lazy or grifting or whatever.
But an underlooked proponent on why some people are nearing homeless and crowdfunding heavily rn is bc society has failed you by making it as inconvenient as possible to learn about social systems and programs that already exist to help your situation as well as not having enough programs and aid.
Lemme give some examples. I have been unemployed for 10 months. My mom told me about a paying job training program a month ago after I already decided to mive in with her to find work, because nothing was coming up in my own city. My best friend didn’t know about affordable housing assistance in my state until she talked to my dad about it on a chance encounter. Some people on here have to see posts about much cheaper alternatives to their current prescriptions or medical plans because its not in the interest of their doctors paychecks to tell them about it. I would have waited to get vaccinated and not have crowdfunded for Uber money if I had known they were going to give free vaccine rides the next month. But I wouldn’t have really known this until I opened the app once that program started, because it is in their interest to keep taking my money until its their desired time for me to reap their “generous” services.
What I’m trying to say is that this is an under discussed aspect of how capitalism fails people. When you are forced to make your life and work and finances so singular and self interested, you are cut off from community and equivalent social services to proper government assistance. You literally don’t know that there is help somewhere out there for you unless you’re told.
I believe a professor I had called this “cultural wisdom” but I haven’t been able to find the social science articles that expanded on this. It’s a practical knowledge of local systems that allows someone to function and thrive in that system. The example she used was having an understanding that banks can hold your money, but the practical aspect of accessing your money (in a convenient and easy manor) was knowing about ATMs and how to use them. But unless you have an account or someone ready to inform you, there’s no dedicated time or milestone where someone learns this.
And that’s just with a machine designed to give you YOUR money, let alone complex social service programs.
I want everyone who crowdfunds for hospital bills to know they probably don’t have to oay them at all. Just find the financial aid office of the hospital. It’s on the website BY LAW. Find the form. Fill it out. Get the bills canceled or lowered! You don’t need crowd money, you need the government’s money that’s already set aside for your medical care.
GO TO, MESSAGE, OR CALL YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY. Libraries are focusing more and more on community resources, support, and outreach. If you genuinely don’t know something or feel uncertain or are in a new situation, a reference librarian will not only help you sort your thoughts through their reference interview but then help you arm yourself with knowledge from reliable and often local sources. It doesn’t even have to be a question to Ask A Librarian. You can simply say “I’m in this situation now. I don’t know what to do next./I’m not confident I know everything I should or want to know.”
Visual representation of over thinking

Title: Can I go where you go?
Pairing: Bechloe
Chapters: 1/1
Wordcount: 3579
Summary: Beca has Chloe over for dinner with the parents, but doesn’t tell Chloe one crucial detail: that she’s coming over as Beca’s girlfriend.
Read on AO3 or below.
Beca hears the door open approximately half a second after the doorbell rings.
Fuck.
She taps her phone screen, waking it up to check the time. She internally groans. Of course Chloe arrived early. She should come to expect it now. Fashionably late to parties, but early for important events. She’s always been proud of having her priorities in order. Perhaps she should feel flattered dinner at the Mitchell’s is considered an “important event”.
It’s her fault really, for losing track of time trying to make her room presentable for Chloe’s first time in her house. Stuffed animals were shoved into the closet, embarrassing pictures were hidden in drawers, counters were dusted and organized. She could barely recognize it after. Good.
The beginnings of a conversation drift up towards her as she sprints to leave her bedroom and rush down the stairs. Why does everything now feel five times the usual distance? Normally this interaction happening would be fine, but there’s something she hadn’t told Chloe yet about the visit.
“…nice it is to finally meet Beca’s girlfriend!” She’s close enough now to hear the words, and of course her step mother was first at the door. Leave it to her to be eager to make a first impression, not even letting Beca introduce her guest first. She cringes at the use of one particular word.
“Nice to meet you too! Excited to be here.” If Chloe was thrown off by what Sheila said, her voice doesn’t give it away.
“Chloe!” She’s out of breath when she finally reaches the front door.
“Beca!” Chloe says excitedly. Beca makes eye contact, and suddenly, the panic disappears, and the tension in her body floods out. It leaves a sense of comfort, like they’re the only two in the room. Like Sheila isn’t standing right between them, a solid one foot away.
She never realized she would miss college so much, until the best part of college gracefully invaded her home life.

being on a costumed superhero team like. you are one of my dearest friends, we've fought side by side a hundred times. we know each other's most intimate strengths and weaknesses; I know you more completely than anyone else in my life. we can communicate with a word, a glance, a gesture. i don't know your name. i've never seen the upper half of your face. i love you.
This is also what working retail during a pandemic is like
Different half of the face.
Yeah that's the only difference
No offense but the internet gives you the most wrong and fucked up idea of helping people because people get mad if you don't care about disasters happening in 72 countries, meanwhile the people in real life that are doing the most good picked one VERY SPECIFIC thing to care about and care about it REALLY HARD
Walks up to a guy working on restoring a native tree species to his downtown "why aren't you posting about grasses in Turkmenistan!"
The internet has taken a whole generation of bright, motivated, passionate young people who care and have big hearts and turned them into paralyzed, shattered wrecks too crushed by the weight of the world's pain to hand a pair of socks to a person in need
You can't care about everything. This leads to compassion fatigue, which is a very real and very serious mental health issue and basic forces you to stop caring about anything.
If you don't schedule regular maintenance etc, etc,.
You don't have to spend energy caring for everything, you just need to acknowledge that it's worth being cared about.
