Tap to pay technology, which is making public transit much more bearable
Tons of new ways to clean up the ocean
Tons of new ways to heal cancer
New and safer methods of transgender surgery
New tools for the arts (often open source) to make things that used to be inaccessible to individuals more accessible, like 3d modeling, tablet drawing, animation, and even (some secure) cloud-based writing options
New and better safety features for vehicles
Cheaper, more common EV cars
Cheaper, more ecological, and faster construction methods (that aren't often used but may get slowly adopted over time)
Anti virus technology that actually works and keeps up with viruses
Open source ways to avoid internet ads, and improve internet security
Crazy emulation software for old video games
Way better translation software that's great for travel
Better text to speech technology
Better speech to text technology
Better ecological knowledge and ways to heal industrial damage to nature
Way better solar energy harnessing, and more widespread adoption of it
More efficient tools for teachers administering and grading assignments
I could go on if I did research. This is all top of my head, and they all have caveats and don't always make up for evil inventions, or are stymied by capitalism in some ways. But my point is good things still do happen in technology even sometimes in mega corporations (though rarer than more wholesome sources), and most good news in technology is not spread around easily... Because bad technology is often about eating your attention in the first place. I'm not saying "stay positive" because there's a lot people should be mad about, but there's plenty of hope available to avoid the extremes of nihilism. We fixed the ozone layer, and most people never heard about that.
