i gave my sister $100 for her bday, but i gave it to her inย $1 bills that i folded into origami. so thatโs how she pays for delivery food & now the pizza girl thinks sheโs a stripper
Youโre really good at origami holy sh
i learned it specifically to make these for this exact situationย
Arenโt you the same bitch that gave your sister $100 dollars in nickels?
same bitch
Yeah, neither of these things happened ๐๐ผ
listen here my good hoe, i canโt find photos of the 2000 nickels or the 20 stars, but i did not spend weeks planning meticulously inconvenient birthday giftsย over a period of years just to get whaled on by internet gremlins. here is some equally compelling evidence for an anecdote i was saving for later:
it weighed 68.6 lbs
same hellion yes
its crazy that megan thee stallion is not considered a queer artist by some people. the woman is not shy about the fact that she finds women attractive and likes having sex with them. she references it pretty frequently in her music, she made a whole song about enjoying having threesomes with a woman and a man, she made a Jennifer's Body-themed music video, she had Victoria Monรฉt full riding her thigh on stage at a coachella, and there's literally a video of a lesbian interviewing glorilla at a party & asking who she would date if she was queer and her immediate response is "megan. megan like girls!" and then megan turns around and immediately starts flirting with the interviewer. i don't know what more you want. that woman is Bi Sexual and we should all be thankful every day for that. bi women are still bi when they wanna fuck men too you know. the fucking of men is also done bisexually.
ive heard the argument that transitioning is a "voluntary surgery" and so its not necessary. while its true that medical transition is an elective surgery (all elective surgery means is that youre not going to die immediately if you dont have it now, as opposed to emergency surgery), most surgeries are elective. still, ive seen people argue, "would you let someone cut off a limb if they didn't want it?" and id say, yes. ive seen it done before
ive worked in hospitals for a long time, and years ago i saw a patient very frequently. he came in once every month or so, inpatient. one day he told me what he kept coming in for. he had a knee replacement, but it kept rejecting. so the hospital would take it out, keep him, and then put it back in. he told me that he was fighting to just have it amputated. he said he was in his 70s and he just didnt have enough time anymore to spend it all in the hospital. he said that he felt he could live a better and more fulfilling life for the years he had left if they just took the leg off. he could get a prosthetic and just not have to go to the hospital all the time. he said that the doctors were fighting him on it but that was what he wanted. i said that i understood, and that i hoped he could get that amputation
anyway, some time passed, and i saw him again. i asked whats up, he was beaming and said, "i got it done! they took the leg off!" i was like, "hell yeah man, how are you feeling?" and he said "well it hurts right now but im not gonna have to come here all the time anymore." he left the hospital some time later, and i never saw him again, which is all you can hope for when you work in a hospital
he also had an elective surgery, a "voluntary" surgery. he chose to have an amputation because he was suffering with the limb intact. and thats really what we're doing too. yes, transition surgeries are elective, but that doesnt mean that theyre not necessary to improve the quality of our lives
idk. i told my dad about this years ago, and my dad said he couldnt understand choosing that. but i could. and i hope hes still out of the hospital. i hope he never goes back
โoh no, my audience has begun to guess the big twists of my story and are accurately predicting what will happen!โ
incorrect response: write the rest of the story to be as twisty, shocking and counter to expectations as possible, regardless of whether this is a logical or satisfying way for the plot to go
correct response:
can someone elaborate on the โmake hoaxโ and โpost angry tweet about โleakโโ part. iโm stupid and donโt understand things
sure!
(youโre not stupid. I posted this thinking it would amuse a handful of mutuals who all knew the context and that would be about it, so I didnโt think about providing any other explanation. I had no idea it would spread this far.)
Iโll start from the very beginning just to be thorough. so this is Alex Hirsch, creator and head writer of Gravity Falls, a show which had a big focus on mystery, conspiracies, codes and ciphers, etc. the whole plot is kicked off by one of the main characters finding a mysterious old journal in the woods, which detailed all kinds of weird and supernatural things, but then ended abruptly with the author saying they had to hide the journal because they were being watched. the central driving mystery of the show, therefore, was the question of who wrote the journal and what happened to them.
now, the thing about Gravity Falls is that, while it must be said that the writers werenโt always quite as sure of their plans as we tend to like to think they are, it is very much a fair play mystery, with legitimate clues to what was going on. but the writers were caught off guard by how quickly the show attracted a dedicated audience, including a lot of people outside the primary presumed demographic, who started solving the clues faster than expected. so some of the fans were able to correctly guess who the author was before it was revealed in the show, and the theory started spreading. this put the writers in something of a panic, because this was THE mystery that the whole story revolved around, with ยพ of the show building up to the dramatic reveal in the middle of season 2. they wanted it to be a mystery that could be figured out, sure, but they werenโt prepared for people to solve it so far in advance of when it was planned to be revealed, which would have really taken away from the big moment. they werenโt going to change the main story itself, but having been caught unaware by how much attention the fans were paying, they wanted to up the ante and make the mystery more complex to solve going forwardโbut first they needed to buy some time and throw the fandom off the scent for a little longer.
hence, Alexโs plan as described above. they whipped up a fake shot that appears to give away the identity of the author as being another character in the show, put it on a screen in the studio as if it was a real animation frame, took a picture of it, and โleakedโ it online. it was initially decided to be a hoax (albeit, I think, presumed to be a hoax originating from outside the production team), until Alex posted this tweet:
โฆbefore quickly deleting it (though not so quickly that it didnโt get seen, of course).
it worked well enough to distract most people for a while, and wasnโt revealed as a hoax until a year later, when an episode aired that definitively proved that the supposed screenshot could never have happened, at which point Alex owned up to the whole thing as seen in the tweet above. by then the episode with the real reveal wasnโt far off, and while people did still work it out ahead of time, it was more of an โOH MY GOD I KNEW IT!โ moment than a โbooooooring, weโve known that for agesโ moment, which of course was what the writers wanted all along.
personally I find this a fascinating approach to dealing with the problem of spoilers, because it doesnโt affect the story itself at all; if you watch Gravity Falls todayโor if you were watching it when it aired without any significant contact with the fandomโyouโd never know about it. ultimately, the problem the writers were facing wasnโt that some people might guess the answer to the mysteryโthey never wanted to make it completely impossible to predictโso much as it was that they hadnโt designed the story to stand up to so many people working on the puzzle together, which resulted in a sort of total output of puzzle-solving ability that far outstripped the capability of any one solo human being. so their solution is something thatโs very much targeted toward delaying that group problem-solving, without actually affecting the experience of any individual person watching the show.
plus, itโs very in keeping with the overall tone of the show.
and now you know!
if your audience guesses the ending of your story
donโt:
change the ending
do:
gaslight them

i was watching a video about how regional cheeses are made around the world, and was shown a type of mozzarella called zizzona (the z/zz pronounced like the 'zz' in 'pizza', with a 'tz' sound), which, yes, means "mother's breast".

i feel like we've completely killed the ability to just gently tell someone when they're wrong or that their opinions don't pass the vibe check. we have to accommodate every single type of person and all their dogshit opinions OR we have to drive them off the internet, no in between
like you should be able to tell someone hey i think this belief you hold is harmful and i kindly ask you to reconsider your position or something instead of being like well you're toxic and everyone should dogpile you until you die or just being like welllllll it's not my business teehee they can perpetuate whatever they want
conversely i think we've also killed the ability to accept this kind of gentle criticism lol people just run to hide behind their identities .. im literally neurodivergent and a minor
this is a beautiful example of how people don't even have to hide behind THEIR OWN identities, and also brings up a point that had slipped my mind: online is forever

I really love that the backrooms film answers probably something that everyone has at least wondered once.
โWhat happens if I justโฆ choose to stay.โ
It kills you. It will eventually kill you. Because youโre choosing to live in a memory. An echo of the past.
To live in the past is to no longer experience the future.
To no longer experience the future is to run out of the present.
To run out of the present allows the past to catch up to you. Quickly.
Clark was dead the second he made that choice. Not just because of the captain. But because in that very moment he let go of his future.
And became someone who only exists in the past.

He's suing them over it for $25M.
Wyland has said any financial recovery from the suit would support public art, ocean conservation, and environmental education through his foundation.
"This should have been an opportunity to show the world that global sports, public art, and environmental stewardship can stand together," he said. "Instead, a landmark was painted over. We want to do our part to make sure that what happened here does not become the standard for how public art is treated in cities across America."

Next month I finally start my overnight shift at the lab and while I'm not sure how easily I'll adjust to becoming fully nocturnal, and not sure if I'll want to remain on night shift forever, I do think it's funny that my trainers so far have been gassing me up as a potential overnight supervisor if I can stick it out, and not just because I'm basically a natural at everything they're showing me but also because it will be a really funny bit for them to turn future new hires over to the pale and ethereally beautiful overnight supervisor named Carmilla who looks much younger than she actually is and works with the lab's blood samples. imagine being a new hire at a big empty overnight laboratory and your supe Carmilla adds you to her team slack channel and it's called #thralls

part of what makes tragedies tragic is the story being preventable from the outside but unpreventable from the inside
If they had done things differently they could have been happy, but to do things differently would require them to be someone else.
