EVERYONE(!) I’m blazing this post because at this pace we might barely hit 1,000,000 signatures—or just fall short. PLEASE reblog this post, no matter where you are from, so we can reach as many EU citizens as possible and end this horrible practice!
Idea I got after finding out that some female snakes can literally clone themselves. ie. just an excuse to draw lots of baby Crowleys.
So yeah! We’ve got normal Crowley, Crowley in pink pajamas, 1960′s Crowley, Golgotha Crowley, Eden Crowley, and angel Crowley! :D And of course, a confused Aziraphale, and an absolutely horrified normal Crowley.
Oh, and naturally they all love Aziraphale at first sight 💖💖
Edit// Someone plz write a fic about this? And tag me so I can see if you do! :D ❤️
But then, I found a certain angel and his demon and was instantly engrossed and obsessed.
Good Omens gave me something to think about other than myself. And for a while, that was a massive relief.
I dove head-first into any fanfiction I could find and with every single one, I fell deeper in love with those characters and the amazing fandom that surrounds them.
I read on and on and somehow it all lead me back to thinking about myself again. But something had changed.
When I watched enough GO to be able to speak along with all the characters, suddenly, Doctor Who popped up in my suggestion list. I had heard about it, but never before watched. I was like, 'ohh yay, DT plays the doctor' and hit play.
Boy it wasn't like anything I had expected.
I was hooked even before nine regenerated into ten. And so I fell in love with the doctor as well. The grinning nine, the hippity-hoppity ten, bowtie-wearing eleven, grumpy twelve, crazy thirteen, burned-out fourteen and singing fifteen. I love them all because they are all parts of one beautiful being.
And then, Donnas daughter Rose appeared.
And that’s when it finally hit me. Her words finally made something click inside my head.
I'd never been able to fit in.
Not with the other girls (clothes, make-up, shoes - yikes) nor with the boys (hellooo friendzone, I actually would have liked to have a boyfriend as well, you know?)
Life went on and I had resigned myself to being the strange oddball (+ married and with a kid)

So, normally I am a really shy person on the internet, but you made this beautiful song Sky Clear Blue, and I just have to ask.
Do you have the notes for that song? And would you mind sharing them?
I have a guitar and I would love to attempt playing that lovely song.
Hello shy person on the internet! omg I got an ask about The Song! :D *sounds of angel-coded delight*
I don't have anything beyond Steph's lyrics written down, unfortunately - HOWEVER, I could absolutely scribble some down for whatever parts you're curious about, if you like!
If we're only talking guitar chords, it's a really nice and simple (comfy!) progression: alternating G and Cadd9 for most of the verses, one loop of G - Am - C - D in the lead-up to the chorus, and the chorus is C - G - Dsus - D. (The very final chord is a Dsus because ✨ambience✨ and open-endedness vibes and... ok that's not what I was supposed to be talking about here oops)
Caveat to the above: wherever there's a D chord, I alternate randomly between plain D and Dsus with no particular pattern, and I may have replaced some Cs with Cadd9 or vice versa here and there. Either of the two works; it's just easier to play Cadd9 between two Gs. 🙂
Technically I played the same-ish chords in the transposed a capella version, too, but simpler and on my mini guitar/guitarlele which is tuned differently so the result is a slightly off-key D - Gadd9 (verse) and G - D - A (chorus).
Before I go off waffling delightedly for WAY too long (omg someone asked me about an Art I've made I can talk for HOURS hello you're my new best friend)... Is there any part/voice/instrument in particular that you're curious about? Because, again, I could absolutely scribble down some sheet music for this (or maybe even wrangle GarageBand to output some for me; I think that's a feature it has??). I don't normally write stuff down much when I play because I find it easier to just noodle around and memorise and I don't tend to get too complex with arrangements, but I do read musical notation and guitar tabulature and I would be a completely normal amount of very excited to talk and write more about this as you can see SO. Yeah. Just hmu if you want more detail about guitar chords or notes or some other stuff; I'd be BEYOND thrilled to share.
Actual view of me reading and answering this ask ⬇️⬇️⬇️
beardo: *goes to town on ask*
(PS. I need to point out that I'm only responsible for the particulars of the arrangement, the physical singing/playing, and the time signature - Steph based her song upon another one, a recording of which she kindly sent me; it's got slightly different lyrics and a somewhat simpler chord progression, is in 4/4 time and gives sort of... cute country ballad vibes? I riffed off of the melody a bit and the rest... really, the arrangement did what the characters in my stories tend to do, and kind of just wrote itself.
Either way, I don't want anyone to imagine I came up with the melody or the overall shape of this song myself! I just kneaded it a bit and fought GarageBand to record it. 💜)
gonna tag @klikandtuna and @suzypfonne in case you fine humans want to listen in to continued talk about this song - you're both HIGHLY RESPONSIBLE for these amazing last 24 hours of my life and the existence of this piece of music after all
This is exactly what I wanted to know, thank you so much. I think it would be even easier for me, if you have an annotated version of the lyrics, with the chords written above them, but I can probably figure that out too.
I will try my best to do your song justice. I have not played my guitar in a while, but when I heard your song this morning, I decided that this is the song, that will make me play again.
Also, if you want to share more about how you wrote and recorded that song, I will happily listen.
I think it would be even easier for me, if you have an annotated version of the lyrics, with the chords written above them[...]
Sure, I can do one of those np :)
Let's see if Tumblr can handle consecutive spaces in monospace...

Here are 7 things to avoid when writing a sex scene
Disappointing the reader
You can make the reader wait but don’t disappoint the reader by not including a sex scene that’s integral to the story.
Your scene doesn’t need to be lengthy to be satisfying.
Getting lost in the character’s thoughts
While the reader needs to know a little bit of what the character’s thinking and feeling, the sex scene needs to focus heavily on the action—show what’s happening. But don’t muddy the moment with too much exposition. It will dull the scene’s excitement.
Missing the beauty
Unless you’re writing a rape scene, sex is meant to be beautiful and soulful.
It may show the vulnerability of your characters, or the way that the light hits their skin. Take a moment to find what’s beautiful in the moment and explore it.
Getting cutesy with your word choice
Euphemism are great, but the ones used for sex can get really cringe-y really quickly. For your consideration: honeypot, the heart of her femininity, bulge, appendage, staff, pink pearl… You get the idea.
Instead, the simplest words are often the best.
When in doubt, say “penis.”
This keeps the reader in the action instead of trying to figure out what you mean.
Not studying sex scenes
You're a writer. This is your craft.
And this may be your only chance in life to devour a romance novel and watch R-rated movies for work.
See how other creatives use sex to explore characterization and take notes.
Writing in public
Sex is an intimate affair.
It’s pretty difficult to write about it when you’re with others.
If you're doing it right, you'll get a little hot and bothered yourself, and the last place you want to be is in your local cafe when you’re flustered.
Edit furiously
Pro tip: Always remove the word “moist” whenever it pops up in your narrative.
A certain portion of the population gets freaked out when they encounter it.
It was even voted the most cringe-worthy word in the English language by several outlets.

Does it hurt that we'll only get 90 more minutes of GO? F*** yes it does.
But!
It was almost cancelled entirely, so 90 minutes is better that that.
GO was saved by the people who really care for it and love it!
They fought tooth and nail to make S3 happen at all. Do we really think they'll let it become anything less than it deserves to be? They will make sure to do right by Terry (and Aziraphale and Crowley)
And what if?
It was NG who said S3 will be the last one, right? So what if these 90 minutes will be amazing? What if these 90 minutes will show Amazon that it might be worth it to do more?
Yes, I am relieved to have confirmation we're getting something. But no, I'm not happy with the outcome. @primevideouk, @primevideo, @goodomensonprime
Can the central plot be wrapped up in 90-minutes? Probably. But it comes with costs--to subplots and side characters, to minisode closure, to relationship growth. To the entirety of the story that yes, Neil helped create, but that Terry created, too.
And it feels vastly, vastly unfair to everyone who has invested in this story. The incredibly talented cast and crew and creatives who have poured so many years into this project, who love it just as much as the fans and who are not shy about how much this story and these characters mean to them.
But, personally, the worst part about this ridiculous decision is that we'd made it. We'd made it through the meat grinder and uncertainty of great-shows-cancelled-after-two-seasons. It had been measured and considered and deemed worthy of a third, full season. And the decision to massively abridge the project seems to have been made because of one person--one person.
You're punishing the class for the transgressions of one. Get him the hell off the project, please and thank you and good riddance. And then give everyone else what you'd already decided was worth doing.
This is legit. My husband, sitting across the room, looks over and says, “IS THAT SOMEONE SHOWING HOW TO CONVERT ENGLISH TO TENGWAR? BECAUSE THAT’S THE WAY!”
Believe this man. He owns atlases of Middle Earth, the complete history of Midle Earth (leatherbound), and has read the books at least 150 times. Also: speaks elvish.
The Mini Guide to Crafting Compelling Royal Characters for Fiction Writers
Creating royal characters can be both exciting and challenging. These regal figures often play pivotal roles in stories, capturing readers' imaginations with their power, privilege, and the weight of responsibility they carry. Whether you're writing historical fiction, fantasy, or contemporary novels featuring monarchs, this comprehensive (mini) guide will help you develop authentic, multi-dimensional royal characters that will resonate with your readers.
Understanding the Basics of Royalty
Before diving into character creation, it's essential to have a solid grasp of what royalty entails. Royalty typically refers to members of a ruling family, including kings, queens, princes, princesses, and other nobles within a monarchical system. These individuals are often born into their roles, though some may ascend to power through marriage or other means.
Key aspects to consider:
Hierarchy and succession
Royal duties and responsibilities
Protocol and etiquette
The concept of divine right (in some cultures)
The relationship between royalty and their subjects
Remember, while these elements are common in many royal systems, you have the creative freedom to adapt or reimagine them for your fictional world.
Developing Your Royal Character's Background
Every character, royal or not, needs a rich backstory. For royal characters, this background is particularly crucial as it shapes their worldview, values, and decision-making processes.
Consider the following:
a) Lineage: What is your character's family history? Are they from a long-standing dynasty or a newly established royal house?
b) Upbringing: How were they raised? Were they groomed for leadership from birth, or did they have a more sheltered upbringing?
c) Education: What kind of education did they receive? Was it formal, focusing on statecraft and diplomacy, or more well-rounded?
d) Relationships: How do they relate to their family members, courtiers, and subjects?
e) Personal experiences: What significant events have shaped their character and outlook on life?
Crafting a Unique Personality
Avoid the trap of creating one-dimensional royal stereotypes. Your character should be as complex and nuanced as any other well-developed protagonist or antagonist.
Consider these aspects:
a) Strengths and weaknesses: What are your character's admirable qualities? What flaws do they struggle with?
b) Motivations: What drives them? Is it a sense of duty, personal ambition, or something else entirely?
c) Internal conflicts: What personal struggles do they face? How do these conflicts affect their rule and relationships?
d) Hobbies and interests: What passions do they pursue outside of their royal duties?
e) Sense of humor: How do they express humor, if at all? Is it dry wit, sarcasm, or something else?
Balancing Power and Vulnerability
One of the most intriguing aspects of royal characters is the juxtaposition between their immense power and their human vulnerabilities. This balance can create compelling internal and external conflicts for your character.
Consider:
The weight of responsibility and its impact on their personal life
The isolation that often comes with a royal position
The constant scrutiny they face from the public and court
The struggle between personal desires and duty to the crown
Creating a Believable Royal World
Your royal character doesn't exist in a vacuum (I hope not). They're part of a larger royal ecosystem that includes family members, advisors, courtiers, and subjects. Developing this world adds depth and authenticity to your story.
Key elements to consider:
Court dynamics and politics
Relationships with other noble houses or kingdoms
The role of advisors and how they influence decisions
Traditions and customs specific to your royal setting
The economic and social structure of the kingdom
Addressing the Challenges of Royal Life
Royal characters face unique challenges that can drive your plot and character development. Some common themes include:
a) Succession disputes
b) Balancing personal happiness with duty
c) Navigating political alliances and conflicts
d) Managing public opinion and maintaining legitimacy
e) Dealing with threats to their rule or life
Use these challenges to create tension and drive your story forward while revealing more about your character's personality and values.
The Impact of Historical Context
If you're writing historical fiction or a fantasy inspired by real-world monarchies, it's crucial to consider the historical context. Research the time period and culture you're drawing from to ensure authenticity in your character's behavior, beliefs, and challenges.
Key areas to research:
Social norms and expectations of the time
Political systems and power structures
Technology and its impact on governance
Religious beliefs and their influence on royalty
Gender roles and how they affect royal duties and succession
Avoiding Common Pitfalls
When creating royal characters, be mindful of these common mistakes:
a) Making them too perfect or too villainous
b) Ignoring the realities of royal life (e.g., lack of privacy, constant duties)
c) Overlooking the impact of their decisions on their subjects
d) Failing to show growth or change over the course of the story
e) Relying too heavily on stereotypes or clichés
Incorporating Royal Etiquette and Protocol
Royal characters often adhere to strict codes of conduct and protocol. While you don't need to become an expert in royal etiquette, incorporating some of these elements can add authenticity to your story:
Forms of address (Your Majesty, Your Highness, etc.)
Court ceremonies and rituals
Dress codes and regalia
Rules of precedence in social situations
Diplomatic protocols when interacting with other royals or dignitaries
Exploring Different Types of Royal Characters
Remember that not all royal characters need to be ruling monarchs. Consider exploring other royal roles, such as:
The rebel prince or princess who rejects their royal duties
The reluctant heir thrust into power unexpectedly
The exiled royal fighting to reclaim their throne
The royal spouse adapting to life in the palace
The illegitimate child discovering their royal heritage
Each of these archetypes offers unique storytelling opportunities and challenges for character development.
Balancing Historical Accuracy and Creative License
If you're writing historical fiction featuring real royalty, you'll need to strike a balance between historical accuracy and creative interpretation. While it's important to respect known facts and timelines, you also have the freedom to explore the inner lives and motivations of these historical figures.
Tips for balancing accuracy and creativity:
Thoroughly research the historical figure and their time period
Clearly differentiate between historical fact and fictional interpretation
Use author's notes to explain any significant departures from known history
Focus on filling in the gaps in the historical record rather than contradicting established facts
Developing Royal Character Arcs
Like any well-rounded character, your royal protagonist should undergo growth and change throughout your story. Consider how their experiences might challenge their beliefs, alter their perspective, or force them to confront their flaws.
Possible character arcs for royal characters:
From naive idealist to pragmatic ruler
From reluctant heir to confident leader
From isolated monarch to connected leader who understands their subjects
From power-hungry tyrant to benevolent ruler (or vice versa)
Remember, character growth doesn't always have to be positive. Sometimes, the most compelling stories involve characters who face moral decline or tragic falls from grace.
Remember, while the trappings of royalty may be grand, at their core, your royal characters are still human. They love, fear, hope, and struggle like anyone else. It's this humanity, set against the backdrop of power and responsibility, that makes royal characters so fascinating to read and write about.
Happy writing, - Rin T
