American post-apocalyptic series and films are always like "the X that kill all of humanity originated in South America" and they show like a flashback of a jungle or a dirty street but we don't see much and that's why i'm so happy we finally have the eternaut//el eternauta and we can finally see what would happend in a South American Apocalypse ,In this case Argentina.

Also The fact that we are not in the United States shows us how Latin and American values are quite different.

For example, the message of the show is literally "no one is saved alone." The eternaut rejects the cynicism of other apocalyptic series and shows us how the characters always save themselves by helping each other,although there are bad people who will take advantage of others those people won't last long,one can only survive in the world of the Eternaut by helping others.

I love the shopping mall scenes. Everyone is collaborating, calm, helpful. They ask the newcomers to keep the guns AWAY from the kids. There's food and drink to go around, they sing songs into the night. Everyone gets a place to lay their head to sleep. There's bad people, sure, but there's even more good people and I think that's a strong message.

Ellen is explicitly and intentionally the HERO of the story, who is not fighting against her "abuser" but a literal evil undead sorcerer who she accidentally-on-purpose summoned to her side with her literal spiritual powers and metaphorical struggles with accepting her own dark side and repressed desires in a time period where women were to be seen and not heard. On some level she IS attracted to him and Orlok is open and determined about his desire for her. He is the antithesis of the strict and judgemental society in which Ellen is forced to exist. If he wants something he simply goes after it and leaves a trail of destruction in his wake, and finding power and sauve seduction alluring is part of the DNA of the story of Dracula/Nosferatu. "OMG people who like Nosferatu are weird"- He doesn't exist.

THESE PEOPLE ARE, AT BEST, ACTORS ON A SCREEN OR WORDS ON A PAGE. THEY ARE NOT FUCKING REAL.

The stuff you like in fiction IS NOT the same stuff you like in real life!!! Fantasies ARE NOT REAL! Nobody is looking into your head to condemn you!! NOBODY!! Live your life, have weird or gross tastes, and be AT PEACE!!

Will soon? While menarche (first period) is getting earlier, the average age for girls born in 2000-2005 was still around 11.9 years, so two years away for Jane. For girls born in 1950-1969, it was 12.5 years of age, so between 2-4 years away. That’s not soon, especially to a child. Not everything is about women’s reproductive system!

Her cousin takes the fancy book away because it’s expensive and they see Jane as a parasite (it has colour pictures, that would be very valuable at the time). I really doubt this is about her approaching womanhood. I’m not an expert but I’d do this:

*if this does matter, it’s because he’s the heir and is therefore more precious than the girl cousins and because the book is eventually “his”, but she’d have probably been punished either way

**She is looking at the pictures in the book and making little stories up about them, not educating herself. She’s playing
