People complaining about their ships having a "bad ending" were never a Braime shipper who witnessed Game of Thrones Season 8 while it was happening or been waiting 15 years (literally for some people) with them in a cliffhanger going to meet lady death in the book source material, and it shows. Like, every time a new fandom disaster happens, I think "I wish Braime had had it that good."

your life is not an optimization problem

as in you'll never achieve the perfect daily routine, sleep schedule, coping mechanisms, mannerisms, fashion sense etc. even after years and years of healing and improvement and self-discovery. you will never be so good at life that you manage to utilize every waking moment. its great to be productive and all but sometimes you'll suck ass. sometimes you'll take eight hours to be done with a twenty minute job. you'll prioritize the wrong thing. you'll sleep for 12 hrs just to avoid being awake. you'll relapse. and you'll relapse again. you'll forget to turn in the assignment. you'll order too little food. life is far too large and complex for you to even experience it completely, much less try to make sense of and control it. you can't. please give up on that and be at peace with the hours you lose. they are not separate from your life.

you would think, like, "oh, we've already thought of all the metaphorical ways we can say penis/vagina. we've already come up with the full list of nicknames. we have exhausted the list of innuendos. there is nothing else new to be said about this" and then you'll open a random explicit fic and make the most improbable linguistic discovery of all time

I'm pretty sure that as much as anything this skill boils down to frustration tolerance. I see people melting down at the first sign of needing to search for instructions all the time. Teaching them to get through it becomes as much about teaching them to handle the emotional experience of not knowing as anything else.
