✨ I'm Alisha (she/they, 26), I'm a bi disaster and welcome to my space on the web! ✨🐌
I'm a friendly potato if you're friendly too, so make yourself comfy. Ship and let ship, kink tomato... We have critical thinking skills and don't do moral panics here. I personally don't ship "taboo" dynamics, but it's fine if you do.
No specific theme. I post funny things, art I like, cute animals, and stuff about censorship.
I appreciate everyone who follows me even if I don't follow back.
I block assholes who hurt or target other people. This includes making threats and death wishes, guilt-tripping people, harassing people, and insulting people you don't like by calling them slurs. Disabilities and mental illness aren't synonymous with being a bad person. I don't care who the person is. Telling people to die with no chance to better themselves is also Bad. We do reparative, restorative justice in this house!
I don't wanna see people being shitty to others based on their innate race, gender, orientation etc. This includes cishet and white people. Your labels don't give you a free pass to be a jerk.
You can like or reblog my posts, no pressure. I won't guilt trip you into anything, I know posts don't always match blog themes or the vibes you want to curate, and that posting isn't activism.
I have good media literacy and I'm against censorship. Censorship is not something "only chronically online people care about". Moral panics have happened for decades (DND, pokemon, book bans). Just because fandom has labels for where you stand on censorship, it doesn't mean people don't understand why it's bad. Censorship affects everyone, even if you don't talk about it online.
I don't have a DNI. They're a naive control fantasy that assumes everyone is who they say they are and will respect your wishes. Vague DNIs like "basic criteria" are even worse, because everyone defines it differently. I chose not to make my blog password protected, and I can live with what that means.
One last thing:
Obviously I can't control what people do, but I instantly block anyone who claims they have DID. My former friend did the whole thing, I've been there, done that. There's maybe a handful of people who actually have the disorder, and I won't enable anyone else. It's obvious when you're faking, or convincing yourself you have DID, when the symptoms don't line up with the most basic ways the disorder works. Get off tiktok and twitter, you were given bad info by someone equally mistaken. You gotta figure out the real source of your concerns, and it's basically guaranteed to not be DID, even if you have trauma. I'm sorry your needs aren't being met, but you can't fix it like this, you convinced yourself you have something you don't, this is literally what's happening with you. And it's delaying the diagnosis you actually need. Professionals aren't always right, believe me I know lmao, but please. Learn how to think critically, instead of relying on tiktoks and parasocial groups that just confirm your biases over and over again. Get out of those echo chambers, it's seriously unhealthy. Do it for yourself!

So… I made a shortened version of this post in a reblog to an ask I originally sent to someone else. And I said there that I would try drag the energy together to make a separate post about it, and several days later… here I am.
Important note before I start: I am not going to use this post to generalise about every Palestinian aid campaign, because I do not have all of the knowledge of every person in the world. I’m not going to go into which countries gofundme operates in or the availability of WiFi or any of that shit. I don’t want to argue about any of that stuff, it would distract from my main point. However, I do believe that Gazavetters is untrustworthy, and based on that I cannot recommend donating to their vetted campaigns. I cannot recommend donating to any personal campaigns, in fact, I truly believe your money is better served going to charities. Maybe some of these people are legit! But neither you nor I have any way of knowing which are legit and which are, as someone noted in a reblog to my original post, using AI to mock up their injury pictures, or using ChatGPT to write genocide fanfiction.
I would rather not be making this post. It’s genuinely hard for me to write it, not just because I’m disabled and generally fucked up and also chose to start writing this post at midnight for reasons known only to my awful brain, but because oh man, did I really want to believe that I was wrong! I would love it if the premier source of vetted Palestinian aid campaigns was really trustworthy and we could know for sure that every unit of currency donated was going to help a stricken family in their time of need!
Unfortunately, then I caught them cosplaying as one of their own campaigns. And I did wait for a while to see if anyone else called this out, or in case… I don’t know, it turned out that this was common knowledge and completely okay? But I think I might legitimately have been one of the only people to have seen this, because of when it happened and how fast it was taken down, and it is killing me that people still believe that Gazavetters is a transparent and trustworthy source.
Also yeah, I know, this is on a burner account. I have friends who follow me on tumblr and would straight up eviscerate me for thinking critically about this at all, never mind calling it out, and I don’t want to be called a genocide denier and kicked out of my irl social groups. Sue me, I’m a coward like that.
Sorry for how long this is gonna be, by the way. And I know you’re unlikely to click this unless you already agree with me, but consider giving it a shot anyway? You don’t have to believe me or do what I say, but take all of this into consideration when you’re making your own decisions.
So I first became aware that something was off on the 12th of August, when a campaign by the blog save-maryam was reblogged onto my dash by somebody I follow. I don’t donate to personal campaigns anymore, but whenever I see one reblogged I go to check it out, follow it back to the Gazavetters source, look at the spreadsheet, normal person stuff. So I did that, and it turns out that save-maryam was a pretty hot topic on Gazavetters, it was the main campaign they’d been reblogging for weeks! Here’s a screenshot from the beginning of August of them reblogging it from Nabulsi, a well known “vetter” in her own right, who has promoted this campaign:
The particular save-maryam post they are reblogging when I get to Gazavetters is this:
It’s technically a post from the 10th, but Gazavetters will reblog stuff over and over and over, often reblogging from different blogs so we can see another real person earnestly ask their followers to donate to this campaign about a family that is truly suffering. This is just one that has no additional commentary.
I then refresh the page, because I do that compulsively in case there has been a new development in the past thirty seconds, and surprisingly there has been! Gazavetters has reblogged the save-maryam account from a different follower, and added commentary of their own! This screenshot shows the time in British Summer Time, by the way, because that’s where I live, so note that in the US (where the vast majority of tumblr users live) the local time would range from “wow you’re up early” to “holy shit you’re STILL awake?!”
I screenshot this immediately, because of course I do, and it turns out that that’s a good thing because in the time it takes me to check if anyone else has reblogged this post going “hey what the fuck?!” the post has been taken down and replaced with this:
This, to me, is conclusive evidence that gazavetters and save-maryam are the same person. The wording is practically identical, except save-maryam included a hyperlink to the gofundme, and I have never seen gazavetters weigh in on a campaign like this before- and then to delete the post, and replace it with one that they’ve remembered to sign in to their burner with? Something is happening here. They are the same person and they are hiding it.
And… okay, okay, let’s be incredibly charitable and say that while this campaign is run by a gazavetters mod, it’s still a real campaign for someone who is suffering. That mod is posting from Gaza and they’re fucking going through it. Let’s go ahead and assume that, and then realise that under Gazavetters’ own posted rules, this campaign would still count as both a scam and a botted campaign.
We’ll start with botting first, since I have more to say about the scam part. Here is the gazavetters definition of botting, as set out in their rules, and here are some of the replies to a save-maryam post:
Neither of those blogs, who are leaving identical replies to save-maryam using identical emojis to save-maryam, do anything but reblog save-maryam. They have a veneer of being a real person, but there are very few posts that are not reblogs of save-maryam and you have to scroll a WHILE to find them. These are bots.
Now, the scamming. Here is the Gazavetters definition of a scam campaign:
In my opinion, even if the save-maryam campaign is legit, even if somehow them leaving the fucking burner on and then immediately deleting the evidence isn’t a smoking gun that the whole thing is fake, assuming the absolute best… Even then, not disclosing this affiliation is deceptive and manipulative.
What is even more manipulative, deceptive, and just plain unfair behaviour, is the sheer amount of attention save-maryam is getting from gazavetters! This is about to turn into screenshot hell but god help me it’s the only way I can get this shit across. These are the last fifteen posts(!) on gazavetters, as of me writing this:
Here are the last five campaign posts that are not save-maryam:
You may notice that that isn’t the last five PEOPLE, three of those are the same guy. That’s the last five campaign posts AT ALL. Save-maryam is getting multiple posts per day, sometimes per hour, and everyone else on tumblr is lucky to get one to share per week. Is that fair behaviour, really? Especially if they’re the same person who runs the campaign, is it fair to promote this single campaign over and over to the detriment of all others? A lot of these campaigns could probably really do with eyes on them, eyes that gazavetters could provide, except they’re busy giving all of those eyes to their own gofundme!
BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE! Literally I just realised this NOW while I was scrolling for lucky number 5 on my non-save-maryam list, so it’s much less thought-out, but here’s a post where Gazavetters explicitly says that they’re not save-maryam:
How are you posting like you’re her if you’re following the family’s story through the blog? It is deceitful to post like this! It is deceptive and manipulative to pretend like this is someone you have been following who is hard done by, knowing that people will trust you as a neutral third party, when that person is you all along! This is a scam! By their own rules, which I know because they reblog them every ten posts or so, this is a fucking scam!
As I said before, wayyy back at the beginning of this post, I do not know for sure what is going on with Gazavetters, and I’m not going to make a definite judgement on them as a blog. Maybe it’s all been a scam all along, and none of their vetted campaigns have ever been able to be trusted. Maybe one mod went rogue and is only promoting their own campaign. Maybe they had personal arguments with literally every other vetted campaign on tumblr and that’s why they’re not reblogging them. I don’t know! I have no way of knowing what the fuck is going on in their heads.
What I do know is that I caught them posting as save-maryam while pretending to be unaffiliated with save-maryam. I know that they have been focusing disproportionately on save-maryam in their reblogs, with the same few posts about AI chatbots, art, and their own rules repeated over and over to somewhat disguise that fact. I know that their own rules would call this campaign a scam, and yet it’s their favourite campaign anyway.
Here’s the thing that gets me, though: I caught this happening because I refreshed the exact right page at the exact right time on a random Wednesday lunchtime. How can I know this hasn’t happened before with other blogs? How can I possibly know that they haven’t accidentally posted as ahmeds-family1 or mohmdjp5 or anyone else they’ve ever reblogged? I cannot look past these possibilities. The fact that they did this at all renders them untrustworthy, because now I don’t know which of these campaigns are vetted because they’re real, or because they’re secretly gazavetters.
For that reason, I urge you not to trust gazavetters. And we know that scams are absolutely rife on tumblr, especially with the growing use of AI, so I also urge you not to donate to any personal campaigns. If you’re going to spend money, send it to a charity where you know it will be used for good. The Palestine Children’s Relief Fund is a good start, I believe! Or UNICEF! Or Médecins Sans Frontières (aka Doctors Without Borders)! Literally anything that is transparent, where you know your money is actually being used to help people in need. Do not donate to the Gazavetters burner accounts.
I think we can all agree generative AIs are just designed to kiss ass, but like. you see this, and suddenly it's not hard to imagine them being yes-men for school shooters too.

Right now, a lot of us are angry. And fucking justifiably so. But untamed anger has consequences unless we know how to apply it. And unfortunately, there is no cookie cutter one-size-fits-all approach to handling each injustice. We also can't ignore it; after dealing with various annoyances plus traveling, I went off in a public club chat after being bugged about dues for three days in a row despite me paying the dues while on the phone with the treasurer.
Eating the rich would seem nice. Also remember what happened when the French did that. Chaos, innocent people like Thomas Paine and Lafayette caught in the crossfire -- and several of his family members got executed --and the monarchy restored.
We have to be smart about our anger. Most predators that bite humans tend to spit us out; we taste terrible. So no, no eating the rich.
I'm seeing if my hobby of sewing will help with the current rage. Stabbing a sharp needle into nice fabric sometimes helps. Find your stabby hobby and place to be petty, whether it's making fun of the relative who should have known better or excluding a fucking fascist idiot from your hobbies, with minimal consequences.
You know. Some people could really stand to get more comfortable with the idea of “you shouldn’t say that because it’s mean”. Especially with really common body shaming and straight up bullying lines.
“You shouldn’t make ugly bald jokes because what if a transman on T sees it!”
“You shouldn’t make virgin jokes because what if someone who’s asexual sees it!”
How about you just don’t make them because they’re mean. How about people can be balding or a virgin for a number of reasons and also don’t deserve to be routinely made fun of. How about saying that the reason you shouldn’t make x joke because it spares x specific identity’s feelings also let’s them know that you actually have no problem saying or thinking bald people are ugly or virgins are stupid or etc but you’re just not saying it in front of them. How about you understand this kind of body shaming and bullying especially in a very public setting online are always going to have way more unintended damage to people who did nothing wrong than damage to the person you’re upset with.
Sometimes the best reason to not make a bad joke like that is because it’s fucking mean.
Time to fire my rent-lowering gunshots as an ace person.
When aroace characters are written as allo in fandom—fandom, where people project onto characters, and the majority of people are allo—it's not amatonormative. It's an indication that the majority of fans are allo, and are projecting as allo.
That's a fact. It's not a moral problem that needs correcting. By claiming it's a problem, you're inherently claiming that being allo is bad, or people are aroace but have been convinced otherwise because of "the system", and you know them better than they do. Yes, some people identify as allo before they identify as ace. That is their call to make, not yours.
But, you say, people still have a duty to depict characters like canon depicts them. Their own identity doesn't matter. If they don't depict a canon character with their canon identity, it's erasure.
No.
Fanfiction is not a representation exercise. Canon does not vanish into the nethersphere because someone writes blorbo as allo. What people do in fandom is all additive.
And here's the really hard pill to swallow: being aroace, and projecting onto blorbos as aroace, does not make that projection more socially virtuous, or acceptable, than someone who is allo and projects onto blorbos as allo.
The vast majority of the time, you cannot tell if a fan is shipping aroace blorbo because they feel pressured into shipping everything due to amatonormativity. Chances are, they simply find blorbo sexy and want them in sexy scenarios because that's just what they're into, outside of any amatonormative mindset and influence.
Someone's orientation (and how they express it in fiction) becoming bycatch of amatonormativity does not mean their orientation or how they express it in fiction is wrong. It's not an act of invalidation toward aroaces.
Amatonormativity is the belief that everyone must be in a romantic relationship to be happy, and that it's superior to platonic relationships. Someone shipping blorbo does not mean they're saying everyone must be in a romantic relationship because it's superior.
Someone's personal preference about whether they want blorbo to fuck is not a statement or disclosure of agenda.
When you make your blorbos gay, it doesn't mean you think everyone should be gay because being gay is superior. When people walk down the street with a romantic partner, it doesn't mean they think everyone should be in a romantic relationship because it's superior. When someone has sex, or thinks about aroace blorbo when they're getting off, it doesn't mean they're flipping the bird to aroace people. Their opinion on whether certain relationships are more or less "valid" is an entirely different conversation.
Shipping does not innately include sex or romance. Implying aro ace people can't be shipped, general, no matter what, is arophobic and acephobic.
On that note, even aroace people ship characters. Aroace people can have libidos. They can be horny. They may not feel sexual attraction to people, or engage in partnered sex in many circumstances, but sexual acts can still be gratifying. Ace people often regard the characters in sexual writing as an audience surrogate for themselves and their own gratification. Aroace people are entitled to write porn of aroace characters they find aesthetically attractive.
It's bad when people claim a character isn't canonically aroace when it was confirmed in canon. It's bad when people say aroace people don't exist or aren't LGBT+. Stereotypes are a problem, and so is corrective assault. But right now in fandom, I'm seeing a lot more complaints of, "Why can't they just be friends?!" and "Why can't ace people have this?!". It's nonsensical.
Your "Why can't they just be friends"? is their "Why can't they just kiss?". One desire is not intrinsically better than the other. It's annoying and disappointing to not see as much aroace content as one had hoped. But berating fans for it, when the explanation for the vast majority of them is likely not bigotry, but rather simple projection, is not okay. It's mean, and controlling, and it makes for horrible company. You're going into a pie convention and getting mad that there's only a couple booths for cake.
And if you keep seeing allo content when you're looking for aroace content, that's not a sign that fans should be making less of one and more of the other. It's a sign that the search function is flawed and not properly curating your results. On tumblr, the main tag for fandoms (tumblr.com/tagged/fandomname) is a mess, and so is the search (tumblr.com/search/fandomname), so follow people who do the curating for you. Or, go on AO3 and use the search function with filters. Put the wheel in your hands again; don't throw it out the window only to rant that everything is allo and it's everyone else's fault. Having trouble curating your search is not an issue unique to aroace fans, and neither are the solutions.
People don't have a duty to create fanworks for others. They do it for themselves, and those selves are usually going to be allo. The sooner people come to grips with this, the better. Yes, there are going to be fanworks that are motivated by amatonormativity. Do be frustrated about that. Don't allow that frustration to indiscriminately target anyone who ships aroace blorbo.
Having a minority orientation does not make you immune to being irrational or wrong, or imposing unfair moral judgments on others. Unless you see someone going on about how amatonormativity is good, stop yourself and don't let hamster wheel brain spin out.
This post isn't some uninformed, impulsive tirade I made because I'm bored and want to jump into discourse I have no clue about. I'm posting it because I'm aroace, I'm in my 30s, I've been here before, I've written so much damn genfic, and I'm fucking tired. I'm just asking people on this here hellsite to please stop and think, and don't poison the well. It's not worth it.

People should not have to share their immensely personal and deeply rooted trauma to justify their interests in fiction, they should just be able to like what they like
