Grounding/centering isn't necessary every time for everything.
I said what I said.
HARD AGREE.
There are so many things that are touted as "necessary" for spellwork - grounding/centering, casting a circle, creating a sacred workspace, calling compass points/elements/deities, cleansing and warding everything in sight beforehand, using dedicated tools, etc.
And the simple truth is that it's all optional. If you feel like you want to do it or it's something that makes sense in the context of your working or your practice, go for it. But if you choose not to take these extra steps, it's not going to result in catastrophe. Your spells aren't going to fail just because you didn't create a circle or ground & center before your casting.
(And honestly, I get deeply annoyed any time I see someone claiming to be an educator or speaking from a position of experience being like, "You HAVE to do these things or you're DOING IT WRONG and BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN." Like witch, calm your besoms and stop scaring the novices, that kind of absolutism went out with the 90s.)
There are as many ways to be a witch as there are witches in the world, so experiment and find out what works best for you!
Allllll this. The only people I have seen who insist on doing that stuff, no flexibility about it, have nearly always been wiccans. The moment they learned I don't bother with any of it? More than one said it's why I have seizures, that I'm dealing with a demon because I didn't do things the way they insist they be done.
You do you. That's it. Also, this stuff has nothing to do with epilepsy, so kindly fuck off.
Not to mention, "deities from different cultures are all manifestations of the same universal beings" is a colonialist as fuck way of thinking.
Hey so me and my siblings just realized that we were baptized as kids and we aren’t religious anymore so is there a way to undo that (after a quick google search it says it can’t be undone but I wanted to check) I’ll trade you my Bigfoot sticker for your knowledge
THE LAW OF REVERSAL: That which is done by magic may be undone by magic.
Let's be real here, you can just renounce your baptism. That should be fine, and I'm sure god would understand. But baptism is a whole ritual, and you might want a counter-ritual for it to feel complete.
I'll ping @queersatanic I'm sure they can rustle up someone who can whip you up a Renunciation of Baptism type deal.
“It’s all made up and the cool thing is you get to make stuff up, too,” would be our standard answer.
One of the few things The Satanic Temple does that isn’t actually terrible (except for their involvement) is “unbaptism rituals” at events like Pride or whatever. Usually they accept but don’t require a donation because that would be gauche.
For people who want that sort of thing, it can be healing especially if they — like you — would like to consciously undo something you were too young to really consent to.
But you can just do that! Sit down with each other, talk about what specifically you want to renounce, whether you want to incorporate fire instead of water, hail Satan or just curse God. Whatever. Like @cryptotheism said, you have options.
All of this stuff was made up by Someone (or more likely, lots of Someones) just more or less recently and reinterpreted and adapted more or fewer times.
If you’d rather us get you an actual formal ritual, we can do that, and will try to amend the post in a bit with an example. But the important thing is you don’t need to. You can be the Someone for yourselves.
So, there are definitely many other examples some that have much more production demands and official people doing theatrical stuff.
But below is an example of a lot lower level of demand than some others, and it might be something that you adapt can for your needs. Or, it could be something you hate so much it helps you realize what you want and inspires you to make something new. Whichever!
This is based on a script of non-theists/atheist types doing a ritual. Change and keep anything that feels right to you.
The only advice we'd give as far as guidelines for a specifically Satanist unbaptism ritual is: "embrace the cringe". It's fine, and that's honestly part of the fun.
So see if you can find sincerity in your ritual rather than worrying about how serious or silly it is because that is likely to be how you get the most value out of it.

The satanic temple has an unbaptism ritual you can pull concepts from if you do want to go down that path. It's designed specifically as a counter ritual for Christian baptism, and could be helpful for you.
Quick self reblog because I realized I already did the research for you as a project for a class I took in college. Here is a complete overview of the ritual, core components, and purposes.
Alright since we're apparently all writing tips for folks just joining witchblr (and frankly, some of the folks who have been here for a while), here's a few more:
You don't need to set up shop as a teacher, content creator or influencer here. You can participate and be a respected member of the community without all of that. It's fine if that's what you're into, but you're not really expected to be or produce a product here.
Along those lines, understand that a lot of us are keeping personal blogs, and yes we will talk about personal experiences, which might not be intended for other people. If it's helpful to you, great. If you disagree* or (gasp) feel that it is UPG... yeah, it's a personal blog. Move along.
Witchblr is kind of a small world, and tumblr's block feature only works so well. If you can avoid unnecessary drama with people, that'll be helpful in the long run, 'cause you're gonna be seeing them around, and you'll probably have mutuals in common. Not to mention unnecessary drama is unpleasant for everyone and, well, unnecessary.
You don't have to share every moment of your craft. Most of us don't.
Have fun, be silly, make friends. There's a lot to learn and contemplate here, but also a whole lot of silliness (and terrible fire safety. Just absolutely piss poor).
You may find that the liberal use of disclaimers will keep people from jumping on every post you make to be like "BUT WHAT ABOUT APPROPRIATION AND OTHER HARMFUL BELIEFS??" Example: *Usual disclaimer about how this is not about appropriation or other genuinely harmful beliefs. Feel free to vocally disagree with those things, like ya do.

What gives a tarot deck its personality? Would every Normal Tarot deck, for instance, react the same way when read, or is it dependent on the reader/the specific deck?
A tarot deck is a spatula. It's personality comes with use. The slings and arrows of being utilized for it's purpose will give it shape and form which distinguishes "that spatula" from "a spatula"
Whoops! You mistook magic for objective truth and, wuh-oh! Looks like you did a quirky little phrenology! Hi, I'm from the Wizard Council, please bite the curb.
Real talk, just because your spirituality isn't part of some big organized religion doesn't mean you get to be any less critical about it. Your engagement with an idea always has the capacity to hurt people.
"Is this about-" yes this is about astrology. And crystals. And tarot. Anything vaguely spiritual, religious, or superstitious. Nothing gets a pass. Grapple always with your understanding of the world.
...I do hope people understand why it's fundamentally unsafe to spiritualize mental phenomena.
This goes hand-in-hand with "Your emotions are not spiritual signs."
May I share a personal anecdote that I think is relevant? I'll remove it if you'd prefer.
I've mixed up what was going on in my mind with the spiritual before, years back. I experienced some highs from it, but I also experienced even more paranoia. That high of feeling invincible is addictive, but that only makes the paranoia worse. Looking at it in retrospect is frustrating at best. I got so wrapped up in my own personal narrative that I lost track of reality for a while. Fortunately I didn't have the time for it from the autumn semester of 2018 to the spring semester of 2020. Then when everything shut down, I was forced to face up to my undiagnosed mental illnesses. It was... a time, for sure. I actually kept that almost entirely secret even while it happened. I'm pretty sure some of my paranoia came from knowing that it all at least sounded pretty insane. I just didn't really see it until time had passed from when it happened.
Imagine if I hadn't kept it a secret with only two others? Imagine if I hadn't had the time to disengage from the delusions because of college? Because I would either be part of a cult or in some kind of mental institution.
Thank you for sharing. This is exactly what makes discernment and self-knowledge so important.
It absolutely sucks to face the reality of things. But in my experience, the ugly truth is profoundly freeing, while a pretty lie is suffocating.
Friendly reminder this Halloween season that Voodoo (West African Vodun, Louisiana Voodoo, Haitian Vodou) and Hoodoo are a real religion and spiritual practice and are not scary, demonic, or meant for Halloween decoration!
Edit: I forgot to include, which others thankfully have in their reblogs, that they are also closed practices to non-black people

Mfers will be like "omg the raider waite tarot has so much Christian imagery in it! Let's make something new!" And then keep the Christian imagery in it.
Like you didn't even remove the rose from The Fool. It's literally called the Order of the Rose Cross. You clearly didn't even try to understand the medium you're working with.
No Christianity! No depictions of gender!
