holy shit guys i just watched the last episode in theaters and it is ROUGH
if you've already watched it, feel free to continue reading, but the rest of this post is gonna be my opinions/reactions to it
major spoilers under the cut!
theyre fucking brain scans dude. yall were right. IM SO MAD BC I WANTED THEM TO GET OUT HOLY SHIT
jax abstracting hit me HARD. especially after thinking pomni was going to be able to save him??? and ragatha and pomni's moment of friendship was so beautiful
"reality's gay" askdfkdjjsjdj that was so funny the entire theater broke out into laughter
in all seriousness, jax's backstory hit me HARD. him opening up to ribbitt and immediately being embarrassed and trying to brush it off was so impactful to me. that's something i can personally really relate to, especially with friends i love
seeing him push people away and play down his feelings was so sad to me and it hit especially hard because i do that myself - its hard to confide in people you care about, especially about something that makes YOU feel gross, such as trauma or ugly feelings, because you think they'll abandon you on account of it. so, yeah, i totally get where he was coming from with all that (it doesn't mean i excuse it - don't be an ass to your friends)
but pomni being there for him??? accepting him even as an abstraction??? so poignant to me in a way i can't describe
idk what to think about caine. i was rlly confused at first, and then i thought he was going to sacrifice himself to bring back the abstracted -- to me, that might have felt more like a genuine arc for him, to truly sacrifice himself and give up his own desires to make the people he loves happy
this is not me hating on gooseworx - i LOVED the ending and how it went
i started fucking BAWLING when they showed grant (kinger) and destiny (queenie) with their daughters having a happy life, and i never stopped crying from there
i wish the abstracted had been able to come back - kinger and queenie would have each other and jax and ribbitt would have each other, too
its like midnight where i am tho and ive been bawling so i can't rlly say anything too profound - there was a LOT of funny moments (jax flirting with gangle, gangle and zooble getting freaky in zooble's room)
it was so good and so emotional and im so sad its come to an end
maybe ill say more when i get up tmrw but who knows

this might literally be my favorite iteration of sirius i've ever read - him being flirty and smooth but tripping over his own shoelaces whenever remus is in the picture? if you're not writing wolfstar like this, are you really writing wolfstar?

i don't have anything profound to say other than im literally in love with every character and forgot tom riddle was a person so laughed my ass off when he showed up bc i thought that was the dumbest name ever <3
just finished reading crimson rivers and oh my goodness…
(spoilers + my opinions under the cut)
stayed strong didn’t cry through any of the deaths (surprisingly) but cried my eyes out when james releases the hornet at the end and gets closure for vanity’s death, as well as when regulus has his final dream about evan… it’s so wonderful to see them let go of their inner demons, even if they don’t forget the people they loved
barry’s death hit the hardest for me, honestly - the few seconds of hope i got just for their saviors to die and barty to die curled up next to regulus in that van??? fucking devastating if you ask me
marlene dying, of course, was awful, but i got that spoiled for me a long time before i read the fic so i was expecting it to be. ‘twas still devastating, though
i’m so glad that mostly everyone got a happy ending, especially fleamont and euphemia (hush i’m still in denial about his death)
i rlly loved the marylily, though this wasn’t my fave depiction of lily in the world, but mary’s character and lily’s playboy-to-house-husband arc was so beautifully done and made me so happy, especially when they had harry in the end
narcissa and andromeda not ever forgetting regulus killing bellatrix (which, justified) hit me hard, but i was happy to see that regulus and tonks were still able to have a relationship, and the fact that narcissa put aside her own pride and gave regulus bellatrix’s dagger because she knew bella would have wanted her to was so special to me
like i said before, this sirius was my favorite out of any fic i’ve ever read before, but i also think this remus was my favorite - when they gave him a gun while escaping the hallow and he was shooting people through the car window??? perfection, if you ask me - also him being pathetically down bad for sirius AND never giving up a chance to fuck with his incredibly flustered boyfriend was so special to me. prime example of the perfect wolfstar dynamic
i loved regulus and james too, obviously, but wolfstar always takes precedence in my heart — that being said, i was kicking my feet and giggling when they got engaged the first time, then the second, and then when they got married. i adore them so much, and all the angst and tension between them was so worth it for the ending it was so freaking good
i’m also a sucker for domesticity, especially when it comes to children, so of course i felt like my chest was constricting and my face hurt from smiling when regulus and james adopted malcom and marcel, and then when they made the snowman for all four of their children soon after — i also had to hold back tears when teddy told remus about his parents and then, once it was made obvious to him that his origins were not being held against him, having fierce devotion to his newfound fathers
in the end, the fic cuts you open and pours a gallon of salt into the open wound MULTIPLE times, but it was so good and i’m so glad i finally got the chance to read it
thank you so much @jostensracquet , my most beautiful best friend, for getting me into the marauders at all, and especially for telling me about this fic to begin with. you’re a real one and i love you <3
ANYWAYS, that was a whole lot of yapping about a fic most marauders fans have read, so i’ll stop there, even though there’s so much more i can say
my greatest dream as a writer is to touch someone as deeply as fruits basket touched me
im rewatching it with a friend right now and i just feel this overwhelming flood of emotions as i watch the characters live their dumb little lives - literally in the second episode i was on the verge of tears just from my love for these characters and this story
all of these guys - tohru especially - inspired me to be a lot kinder than i used to be and to value the things i had, and that's something i'll never forget
does this make sense at all? idk if other shows do this for other people, but fruits basket and i are attached at the soul so
