I’m absolutely giving everyone the benefit of the doubt here. This isn’t a callout. Maybe I don’t know enough about cp. Maybe other folks don’t. Maybe researching it is taking away from people’s limited time and energy when they just want to make some fanwork, and I get that. No matter the reason, I find it disheartening that people can’t include a disabled character without downplaying how severe their disability is.

And the thing about Chris, specifically, is that 911 shows his limitations all the time if you pay attention. It’s more effort for him to sit up. He doesn’t cross his legs. He never rolls over in bed or changes positions on the couch—which isn’t to say he couldn’t, but I suspect it would take a lot more effort than people consider. In later seasons, I don’t think he’s ever shown walking without his crutches. If someone has to use crutches in both hands, they likely can’t carry things in their hands from room to room. Chris is using the crutches to bear some of his body weight on his arms because his legs can’t. He likely can’t stand for any stretch of time, and less so as the day goes on. It’s physically and mentally exhausting having to think about how you’re moving and the physical space around you. And remembering these little movements is part of his body language, just like Eddie brushing his hair back when he’s nervous or Buck’s bear hugs. Not including them is one thing; changing it so that his co is less debilitating is another.

And again: I don’t think people are doing this maliciously or with bad intent! I just think non-disabled people haven’t really thought about it. And when you are disabled, you can’t not think about it all the time.

That Home // Buck S9

I was just tagged by @devirnis as I finished my writing for the day, so I figured it was a good time to share something. while I was working on a Hollanov story, here is some words from a Buddie story I'm aiming to post tomorrow 🩵

Eddie can’t sleep. He’s been trying for a couple of hours now, tossing and turning, counting sheep, doing breathing exercises, anything and everything to help. But nothing is working. He can think of one thing that’ll help. A six foot two, two hundred pound man sprawled out on his couch. The naps Eddie has had so far during his recovery, the ones where he’s been curled up against Buck, have been some of the best sleeps Eddie has ever had. He can fully relax, knowing he’s safe with Buck, something Eddie hasn’t experienced with many people in his life. But he can’t ask Buck to come to his bed. Can he?

I'm not sure if I wanna post a Buddie or Hollanov story this weekend...I've got something for both. so. I'm gonna share a bit of each. let me know which one I should post.

Buddie

“No. Nothing.” Buck hums, “Well the doctor did say it’d take a while.” “I know.” “But you want it better already.” Buck comments with a smile, resting his hand on Eddie’s shoulder, “It’ll get there.” “I know.” Eddie repeats, hooking his foot around Buck’s ankle, “And you probably want it healed so you can go home, huh?” “What? No.” Buck blinks rapidly, “I want it better so you’re better.” “Yeah, but—” Eddie cuts himself off with a huff, “Sorry. I…you know I love having you here. And I appreciate you being here to help out.” The smile is back on Buck’s face, “I do.” “I’m sorry for being a shit patient.” “I’m worse.” Buck shrugs, “It’s only fair we trade off.”

Hollanov

“It is not.” Ilya says when Shane doesn’t reply. “And you cannot say it is.” Shane sticks his bottom lip out, “I don’t like you knowing what I’m thinking.” Ilya chuckles and leans in, pecking Shane on the lips, and when Shane chases after for another kiss, Ilya kisses him once again. “I missed this.” Shane mumbles, briefly forgetting everything else going on, tilting his chin forward to steal another kiss. Ilya hums, peppering a few more kisses to Shane’s lips. “Me too.” “I’m sorry.”
