You can't barge into any search function and go asking for it, but if you know where to go and who to ask it's absolutely still being provided. idrgaf if someone wants to tell me its not that deep or im like a miserable old hag or whatever but the constant insistence that just like. caring about stuff that youve taken the time to learn about and are interested in is cringe or whatever is a really depressing sentiment and instantly consumable short form content is ruining peoples fucking brains to the point where people are convinced putting passion and effort into things is embarrassing but scrolling for hours leaving 100 comments a day on strangers posts giving your opinion on things you have only heard about in other short form video content and not bothered to actually reserach is not. blows up a building.

unfortunate truth of reality is that oftentimes 15 year olds will say/do/believe some stupid bullshit because they are 15 but telling them that they believe that because they are 15 is probably the most counterproductive thing in the entire universe

i remember being 15 and wanting literally nothing more than to be taken seriously and listened to and every thought and feeling i had was dismissed because i was a hormonal teenager. i was well aware at that point that a lot of the things i felt were probably because i was a kid, but that didnt make any of it less real, and being dismissed because of my age 1. did not help 2. did not make me feel better 3. made me angry at and untrustworthy of adults because they refused to listen to me. teenagers are people. kids are people. one of the only major things separating them from adults are experience and wisdom. they have like. you know. interiority

like in YOUR mind you may think youre being helpful by going 'well you're a kid, its not really a big deal, youre okay, youll get over it' but that does not register as "helpful affirmation that everything will turn out fine and the only reason im upset is because of something out of my control so its better to just try and come to terms with it" it registers as 'adult dismissing my real tangible problems and sadness and anger because of my age and inadvertently calling me stupid'

one thing i hate about english is your open compound words. what do you mean it's a light switch and not a lightswitch or a water bottle instead of a waterbottle. get real

Quick shout out to the Down syndrome kid from my after-school program back when I was in grade school. Like yea he had the usual issues but he was a sweetheart and quite funny; and one day both his parents showed up at the same time to pick him up and I had the experience of meeting a family of genetically disabled people that had jobs and a home and a kid in school and it was a profoundly normalizing experience for me like I couldn’t take eugenicists seriously after that because like “no they totally can have whole entire meaningful lives with marriage and children and work and hobbies have you not met Dennis??” Anyway quick shout out to Dennis you were a real one

FRIENDLY REMINDER THAT you are allowed to feel proud of yourself for things that might seem silly to other people, like getting better at a video game or putting together a nice outfit for the next morning or finishing a book. You deserve to feel proud for your accomplishment.
