Found this in the margins of a medieval manuscript.

Signed, someone who forgot to do this and had an unhappy spirit asking where their offerings where because I forgot to say that I now *had* job and didn't need them bringing me more!

In a little house in a deep dark wood an old crooked woman waits. If you stay perfectly still you will hear her hissing breath mingling with the mists and wind. If you have sharp eyes you may see the faint glow of her nakedness, paler than the skull faced moon scuttling about in the shadows. Perhaps if you are very lucky or very unlucky she will invite you in to her roost her beckoning hand snaking out of the shadows she wears like a funeral shroud. If you are kind, and polite, and humble before her she may choose to bless you with her favor; but if are cruel, if you are rude, or boastful, or if she smells the vileness of hate on your breath she will smile and then you will scream and then the woods will be quite again until another visitor is beckoned in to that dark little house that sits and waits in the unfamiliar wood .
