Jimmy and Kim have one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking love stories ever told, but it wouldn't be as beautiful if they had both done what Jimmy wanted them to do - to forget, to enjoy their lives as if nothing happened. Their love would have slowly rotted, and maybe even given way to hate, and then the good times would have been lost, too, forever spoiled by their mutual resentment.
So Kim did the only thing she could. She took responsibility.
All of the Walter and Lalo parallels finally paid off, because Kim, in the end, is not like them. Walt constantly offloaded responsibility to other people, continually justified himself, and doubled down on being worse every chance he got. Lalo had no respect for life and was cheerfully immune to the suffering of others.
But Kim IS NOT LIKE THEM. She shows that there's no point of no return as far as doing the right thing goes. That's a choice anyone can make, if they're willing to take on the hurt, like Walt and Lalo could never do. I remember the time when she and Jimmy threw the beer bottles from the balcony, and the next morning Kim cleaned them up. She didn't have to, but she did anyway, because it was her mess.
She's not like Jimmy either, who wants to pretend nothing ever happened and live a happy life for ever and ever where all of their dreams come true. She knows it can't be that way. She knows that the reason it can't be that way is her fault, because of how caught up she got in the scam, how she deceived Jimmy about Lalo because she didn't want her fun ruined.
So she did the most honorable thing she could. She gave up her career and gave up her husband, not as pointless, self-flagellating sacrifices, but because she is right that she and Jimmy hurt people, and she is right that all of the pro bono cases in the world won't even the scales. This is the only way she can be sure that something like this never happens again.
She joins Nacho as someone who chooses honor and responsibility. I don't think Kim's story (or McWexler's) is finished quite yet, but I felt so close to her, like I did to Nacho when he died. Because death is not the only tragedy, which is in some ways easier to deal with. I love you, Kim Wexler, even though my heart is broken.

when ppl say flash animation pretty much always what i can tell they’re actually thinking of is what is referred to in animation practice as puppet animation, which i agree sucks like 90% of the time (there are a FEW shows that use it very masterfully, like homestar runner and one i’ll show later, though)
guess what? this is flash!
this is also flash!
THIS is puppet animation:
the funniest part is that most puppet animation isn’t even done in flash anymore. people use after effects instead because it has MUCH more sophisticated and useful tools meant specifically for puppet animation.
the technique can be used well, however. my little pony does it so fluidly it looks practically seamless.
homestar runner doesn’t focus nearly as much on fluidity, but instead on constructing strong, expressive key poses and making every frame really count.
puppet animation isn’t even limited to digital mediums. in fact, it’s not new at all.
the adventures of prince achmed is the world’s oldest surviving feature-length animated film - that’s right, predating snow white by over 10 years - and it was done entirely using puppet animation; black paper cutouts atop illuminated backgrounds. and it’s truly fucking breathtaking.

VFX workers are struggling to get by. Speaking to Inverse, four visual effects veterans describe an industry marred by brutal deadlines, slashed budgets, mass layoffs, and industry-wide burnout.
@anti-disney-inc
this is a good blunt article about how exorbitant hollywood profit is only possible through exploiting the most vulnerable tranches of labor, which like many industries has always been the case and is as a result as precarious as it’s ever been
which is a shit deal for labor, but it also means that studios are incredibly exposed and that withholding their profits by skipping the theater and the subscriptions can have a bigger impact than ever before in terms of blueballing greedy studios
(such as Warner Bros’ Dune part 2, which plans to crunch VFX workers with a short 12 month schedule after cashing in on their labor in part 1 to win the oscar for best visual effects)
this is like just a fourth of a whole musical medley addressing that you can’t live like the simpsons anymore. harsh :(
DID MODERN SIMPSONS JUST DROP A WELL PRESENTED TRUTH BOMB
If you know me, you know I’m a fan of “covert” fight scenes. Scenes where two people are fighting but they’re both pretending that something else is going on. This one from Dreadnaught (1981) is one of the best.
By the way, the guy that choreographed this scene, later went on to choreograph The Matrix films, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Kill Bill.
Yuen Woo Ping is the choreographer btw
