wild that "s0 Atem is trying to protect Yugi because he's an uwu cinnamon roll" is the mainstream interpretation, when the canon, onscreen explanation is "Atem gets handed the steering wheel every time Yugi's mind goes YES CRUSHING KILLING VIOLENCE BITING KILL"
This DOES explain why Yugi had such a hard time keeping Atem from taking over when he thought Honda died.
It wasn't until Monster World that Atem started doing it for defense and even it was because Yugi’s soul was trapped in a figurine and Atem's soul was the only one left in the body.
So given the frequency of Yugi’s "blackouts", Yugi must think about murderous thoughts a LOT.
Right?! I mean, look at all the way back in Death-T! Atem only stepped up when they faced Kaiba. It was Yugi that worked through T-1 through 4! He stood up for Jou and Honda when they were getting the shit beat outta them! The boy’s a brave badass punk, and people keep forgetting that! All the clothes he and Atem wear were his to begin with. Atem has even canonically said he doesn’t like Yugi’s sense of fashion, and then people will put Alive-Again!Atem in Yugi’s style and Yugi in pastels!

fucked that you can’t fix other people especially when you really care about them. Oh so im just supposed to be there for you while you suffer. like a useless cunt gargoyle
Me: "Damn people are REALLY BAD at knowing when to tag their eyestrain art/images...either that or they just don't care about photosenitive epileptic people like me. I feel really sad now."
Person: "But Allison, what if they just don't know or understand what qualifies as eyestrain and what doesn't?"
Me: "You know what? That could be a factor...While it is always better to be safe rather than sorry (so YES people should always tag eyestrain even if they're unsure if it "counts" or not) maybe you've got a point?"
Anyways! HERE'S YOUR HANDY GUIDE TO WHAT CAN COUNT AS EYESTRAIN! I'm pulling this straight from the Artfight rules page about what needs to be labeled and filtered as eyestrain because it's VERY helpful and VERY accurate! I also know not everybody has an AF account and might not always have access to this handy guide, and this is an important resource; That's why I'm sharing it here! (under the cut)
PLEASE TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY!!! THIS IS ABOUT THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF OTHERS!!!
Full eyestrain AF page link
"But Allison! How were you able to screenshot that example if you're so sensitive to eyestrain?"
I dimmed the HELL out of my computer screen and looked away while taking the screenshot and did the same when putting it into this post, that's how lol. BUT YEAH ANYWAYS!!! Once again:
PLEASE TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY!!! THIS IS ABOUT THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF OTHERS!!!

NOTICE FOR PSYCHOTIC PEOPLES LIKE ME AND THE NEW TOMODACHI LIFE: Please please pretty pretty please be careful while playing Living the Dream, esp if you’re currently unmedicated!!!
The game treats the Miis like they’re real people and makes zero mention ever that they are not, and only ever refers to them and their POV as if they are real and you are their caretaker! While playing this honestly messed with my head pretty badly at times and made me worry a lot on if I was hurting real people/not doing enough for real people while I was playing!
I cannot imagine how much worse this would be for someone who’s unmedicated, non-dormant, or experiencing breakthrough symptoms! Do please be careful and PLEASE remember to have a way to reality check yourself while playing the game!!!
Also: If you’re not psychotic, please reblog this anyway!!! It may not seem like a big deal to you but these kinds of things are REALLY important to know for us psychotic folk in a world that is both hostile and negligent to us and our needs!!!
first of all, as other people have mentioned, you can skip cutscenes on switch by pressing the plus button on the top right of your right controller. if it's not on the right controller that's because i don't know my left from my right. it just looks like a plus. on desktop, i don't know, but someone else might
the part below the cut is a reality check, as a warning. i also have some points for people who have a specific experience of empathy, which i'll put above the readmore because it's unrelated to psychosis:
- it is really difficult when you are sensitive about your ocs or potentially real people in your actual life that you made miis based on when they develop crushes on other characters or people that are not their actual partner, so this is a warning that that can happen. you can easily dismiss crushes by tapping "you're imagining things" when the screen comes up, but if need be, you can also break miis up by going into the mii creator and making them not attracted to anyone. this second thing is obviously difficult to do when you have the experience of empathy i'm talking about (i could not break up my columbo and tenna miis, i felt too bad, i just decided this columbo isn't really columbo so he isn't really cheating on his wife and also we don't even know if canon columbo actually has a wife, he doesn't wear a ring), but it is an option
- likewise, miis can make each other sad or angry, and there is also i think a personality compatibility factor. i had to change my oc's personality because he kept making his canonical partner and daughter sad and he would not fucking do that. the traits you give miis also seem to affect their personalities; most notably to me, a softie mii i gave the curtsy introduction to now speaks like a princess ("you may address me as celeste").
- however, miis that are not interested in another mii can still become friends with that mii later, and miis who are not getting along or whose relationship has depreciated can repair that relationship. it also seems to take a lot for miis to break up or divorce, i haven't seen this happen, and parent and child miis can have their relationship depreciate but build it back up later
however. it seems that as of the most recent update, it's more likely for miis to fight. when they do, they may eventually make up. it might take a while. miis get sad when the other person is still upset, and then you have to reduce their sadness. other miis can also try to make them feel better and the cutscenes are really sweet. even so, i. hate this a lot. but
anyway, still, all of my miis who are "not getting along" continue to hang out and have friendly interactions, despite constantly pissing each other off and making each other sad. that being said, i have changed personalities because of miis making each other sad or angry all the time because it bothered me so badly. if you look up "tomodachi life personality guide", i use the SimsCommunity one, which i recommend adblock for, you can pick another personality if you need to
- if you're like me and feel bad for telling miis no when they want something on the island, and that thing is already on the island, i just drag them to where that thing already is on the island after i tell them no.
- as another person said, when miis divorce, there is a cutscene that "shows their relationship breaking down before the eventual split". i haven't seen that, but that. sucks. god. the other point someone else made will be under the readmore.
- miis talk in the restaurant and sometimes they say mean things about each other, in multiple different cutscenes. some cutscenes to me overall feel meanspirited. i can't really warn for specific ones because it's so many. i dooooon't think people being rude to each other is funny.
ah, i find it helps me, in both of these cases, to look at what other people are doing with their games and their miis, even to watch playthroughs, but be careful with clown depot's, the last 3 parts of her playthrough are a creepypasta type joke.
anyway, warnings for tomodachi life living the dream, for things that may trigger psychosis:
- miis will gather in groups and the text will read something like "they're talking about you, morning!" or "they're arguing about you, morning!"
- miis will say things like "i'm glad i met you, morning" and "thanks for always looking out for me" and "i feel like i can almost sense when you're nearby now". my columbo mii said it was nice to hear my voice earlier. with all due respect, lieutenant, you are code
- miis will randomly say things like "i feel like i'm being watched", in a game where one of the key gameplay aspects is observation and the loading screen outright encourages you to do it. fuck off, nintendo
- what makes this game funny or cute is the coincidences, like the mad libs aspect with the lingo: "they're talking about how they both want to try playing poker soon". this can be really frustrating when you have issues with delusions of reference in particular
- i wouldn't say the game acts like miis are real people, rather that they are fictional versions of real people. miis will say things like "is the me that exists in your world doing really great?" or "what is something the version of me that exists in your world would know a lot about?" to me, the miis feel like little actors who do not totally fit their assigned parts, as they, for instance, have likes and dislikes when it comes to food- my oc canonically likes peanut butter, but the mii version of them did not appreciate the peanut butter i made them. they don't like the plate of shrimp i made them either, even though canonically they spend a lot of time at their boss's parties sneaking shrimp. this helps me to know that the mii i made of my oc is not really my oc and is also predetermined code written up by a game developer, but may not help others; i can see it going in the opposite direction.
- there are cutscenes and dreams which i think psychotic people need to be aware of, like smaller versions of miis falling out of trees, big birds carrying away treasures, and in dreams: aliens abducting miis, a mii talking to a streetlamp, miis dressed like chickens crossing a street while another mii controls the stop signal/sign/i don't know what that is, three miis will be huddled and whispering in one corner of the screen while the mii who is dreaming is in the other corner, and when that mii says something, the other miis will turn around and will have that mii's face and a flat tone of voice as they say "oh, nothing", etc. miis may get scared by something and suddenly run to their house, too
and there are multiple cutscenes where a mii's face will either pop off as they're startled, and they will turn around to look at the mii who startled them with no face (and then as the other mii runs away they will just pop it back on), or their face may get all messed up because of the water fountain spray or because of the pinwheels
- there is at least one mii newscast that i think can trigger psychosis, which is the one about the underground lab. there are probably other newscasts that can be an issue
- when your miis have a baby and you want to rename the baby they will say "ok, so what do YOU think i should name MY child"
- the second thing someone in the notes mentioned: there are cutscenes where two miis will be in a house and one of the miis will say they feel like they're being watched. the other mii will tell them they're just imagining it, and they will be standing behind the other mii, staring at them while they say "you're right, it probably is just my imagination". i don't like this particularly when it's partners. i don't think it's funny. or the other cutscene, relatedly to this but less to psychosis and more to abuse, where one mii will say "i know everything there is to know about you" and the other mii says "ok, where is my favorite hiding spot?" but the other mii won't be able to find them. they will say "ok, has (name) really vanished?" while the other mii stands behind them, again, staring at them. not fucking funny
regarding my last point before the readmore, the reason i think looking at how other people are playing can be helpful is because what you do in-game is often what other people are doing because that's how the game is meant to be played. you take care of miis, help them be friends with each other, pick them up when they fall or have someone else do it, play mini games, dress them up, make things for them, decorate the island and their houses, etc, and observe them. it also helps me to like, see miis doing ridiculous things, like yesterday i saw someone's lahabrea from final fantasy mii, who is an old guy in a robe, dancing on the beach and seeing things like that really helps me realize this game is just a game. people have made karl marx and mr. beast in it. people feed their miis cigarettes, drugs, and alcohol. scout from clown depot made an isolation island for multiple versions of the nostalgia critic and made their house a dog house.
lastly, about observation: i felt better about observing my miis when i noticed all the little things they do when you're following them, the expressions and idle animations and things they say, the humming and cutscenes, which were put there by the devs for the player to see/hear them, which means observation is expected. the loading screen also encourages you to do this, which also made me feel better about it.
in general, the ridiculousness and absurdity of the game in general makes me feel better about it. i saw my miis stopping each other to do dance moves back and forth, i just gave a mii a ballet dvd and now she stops and suddenly does ballet with classical music playing and sometimes she is even wearing a little outfit when she does it and then she just walks past, still wearing that outfit, while i'm talking to a mii based on mr. ant tenna from deltarune. my grumpy goth detective oc is friends with pinkie pie. another mii i have just sat down in the water, fully clothed, to read a book. this is a comedy game. these bugs are code. that being said, it can still be difficult or impossible to play when you're psychotic or have a specific experience of empathy, these are just warnings and some tips for things i do to make me feel better which i hope may help other people too
Hi guys! I thought I should just share my whole mini little library of Project Hail Mary-related things so they're all in one place:
It includes:
A digital copy of the movie (with subtitles in 30+ languages via download)
My transcript of the movie (more on that here)
Audio recordings of the movie
A PDF of the book
An EPUB of the book (for e-readers)
The full audiobook
A copy of Andy Weir's doc on Eridians
A copy of Andy Weir's spreadsheet on Astrophage physics (among many other things!)
A draft of the screenplay for the film from 2022
An audio recording of the director's commentary
My transcript of the director's commentary
There is also a UHD copy (that's too big to fit in the drive) here!:
Securely store, share, and access your important files and photos. Anytime, anywhere.
Please note that because of the way that google drive works, some of the subtitles only work if you download the file yourself.
The audiobook, audio recordings, and commentary all have their properties programmed so they (should) work just like songs with a track number, album cover, artist, and so on if you download them.
There are two audios of the movie, one is the entire film untouched and one is that same audio cut up and broken down into separate scenes for convenience.
Additionally, there are two versions of the movie transcript, one with time stamps that match the audio recording and one without. The time stamps (+ their titles from the audio) are outlined in that version, so if you double-click on that tab or click "show outline," they'll all show up and you can pick a specific scene.
Similiarly, there are two different versions of the director's commentary transcript. The first is made to listen along to the commentary, while the second is more intended to be read on its own. The first is a direct transcription of everything that's said (an attempt, at least), while the second is slightly cleaned up for easier reading, meaning things like jumbled sentences and stuttering were removed or reorganised, but nothing has been actually paraphrased. Both are broken down into different scenes based on how their conversation goes, and the listening version includes timestamps.
The first few seconds of the commentary are missing unfortunately as my US friend who was kind enough to record it for me had some technical difficulties at the start, but the she paraphrased the part that was missed. The commentary starts at that first red shot of Ryland Grace's face in the coma suit 32 seconds into the digital copy.
There's also a google doc with some instructions to follow if any of the files aren't working, which usually happens when too many people try to access or download something at the same time.
As always, if anything's not working right or you notice any mistakes in anything, please let me know and I'll fix it as soon as I can!

I'd dare say the angel who saved Cobra became his haunting demon.
On a more serious note, I've seen a similar scene but in reverse, where a daughter sacrifices the souls of thousands to resurrect the father she knew as a baby girl. The consequences were... Heavy, to say the least.
In this case though... Cobra's motivation is also kind of weak, and the reason I say that is because of something you yourself mentioned in a earlier post: he's putting in danger kids that would have been Rick's age.
What is Cobra's motivation? It is to see Rick again, to live with him peacefully, as we have seen.
How did Rick come in his arms? Through war. Through blood. And thus blood begets blood. (As in, blood calls for more blood to be spilled, hence why Rick has met his demise, for Cobra spilled blood beforehand)
So what does Cobra do?
...He spills, metaphorically (because we don't see it physically), more blood. To get Rick back, he spills blood, but blood begets blood, so even if his wish comes true, we already know the outcome for it has happened before (Rick died).
We could argue that, because he lost Rick in a time of peace, Cobra believes he must spill blood to avenge him, to bring him back. So far, all of this checks out! It's a strong motivation, it has strong ties to the character and it also has strong ties to the bond he formed.
...but who's blood does he spill?
Does he spill the teachers'? Does he spill the pro leagues'? Does he spill other armies' blood?
No.
He spills the blood of a couple hundred teenagers who would be Rick's age if he were alive.
I have a character who spills the blood of others because he himself has lost his child, but he never, EVER spills the blood of children. (You know who this is bc I talked about him before) Because his motivation, his anger, his grief and pain and loss... Came because of a child, who he was never even able to hold. Wouldn't it go against his character motivation, to spill the blood of other children? Wouldn't it make him a weak caricature, to hurt kids and teenagers because he was stripped of his own? Wouldn't it make it so that this character is so miserable, so far gone, that he believes nothing holds value in life, not even the very thing that drove him here? Wouldn't that mean he just tramples over it all? Wouldn't that make it so that his character doesn't make any sense? Because what is his motivation, anymore, if not the thing that drove him here?
Can we say Cobra has that motivation, still? Has he not trampled over it all? So, in the end, who is Cobra? Is army; war, all that defines him? Is he deluding himself that he does this for Rick?
