As Aromantic Visibility Day (June 5th) approaches this year, friendly reminder from an aroace: it's Aromantic Visibility Day, not "Aroace" Visibility Day! Not all aromantics are also asexual — there are aromantics who are allosexual (aroallos for short), aromantics who don't separately label their sexual orientation at all, and aromantics whose sexual orientation doesn't fit into an ace/allo binary, as well as likely even more aros who don't fit into "aroace" for even more reasons — and all of them are equally included in Aromantic Visibility Day, because they are equally aromantic! In fact, those aros who aren't ace are disproportionately erased and in need of visibility, even more than aroaces are (which is really saying something, because aroace visibility itself is already terrible), so including them in Aromantic Visibility Day is vital, and using the correct name for the occasion instead of calling it an "aroace day" is a start.
Overall: again, speaking as an aroace myself, we aroaces will not be offended if you just call Aromantic Visibility Day the thing it is actually called! I care about sharing this upcoming day with my fellow aros, so stop excluding them, even accidentally! We aroaces celebrate this day but it is not for us exclusively!

I think this might already be known but around April a Black Asexual, Ashabi (creator of Ace in Grace) (she/they), proposed a new Asexual flag. I think it would be nice to show them some support.

Her husband gave a eulogy and spoke mostly about himself. I mean he started from his birth and spent a significant amount of time explaining his life and career before he met her. Her pastor said she was the kindest, most helpful person he'd ever met.
Her kids said she was the best most helpful loving mom. Everybody said she never complained. She put everyone first. It was a virtue. She didn't take care of her, she devoted herself to church, husband and kids. They cried so much. An angel on earth! They'd miss her dearly.
I never met this lady. I sobbed. My husband thought I was going to join her in the ground when I bent down to give me rose and spoke to her. I told her I understood why her heart attacked her. She swallowed so many teeth!! A dozen people said she was the best woman on earth and
I hadn't learned a thing about her personality except that she made it small. I heard about her service and she never complained. I don't even know if she was funny.
That's when I decided to stop putting everyone above me all the time. Stop swallowing my teeth. Because I refuse to let these people kill me and then get up at my funeral and talk about themselves. How I died for them but without saying it. I refuse.
If you hear someone praising you for "never complaining" please get mad. Please take up space. This is your life, not a pageant. Complain. Even if you can only whisper "this hurts me". Complain.

I'm rereading HtN because I'm normal about this book series and one of my friends asked why the sword in the cover is on Harrow's back and I tried to explain it without spoiling it. What she took away was that Gideon pranked Harrow to think that back scabbards are the way to go.
