Happy Feline Friday! Here’s an illustration of felis lybica ornata, more commonly known as the Asiatic wildcat. Found throughout Central Asia, it is well adapted for both arid and forest environments where it hunts a variety of small prey including rodents, lizards, and insects. It is roughly the same size as the common domestic cat.

It’s Feline Friday! Ocelots are a species of wild cats native to the Southwestern United States, Central America, and South America. Since they were first described in the mid 1750s, there has been considerable debate over the existence of various subspecies. This specimen, described as F. Macrourus in the early 1800s, is no longer recognized as a valid subspecies. Over the centuries since it was first recorded, ocelot subspecies have been proposed based on coat patterning, skull size, and DNA analysis.
