I can’t believe 3 of the best movies I’ve seen this year is Markiplier in a blood ocean, Ryan Gosling befriending a rock, and a bunch of talking sheep solving a murder.

Sometimes I’m fascinated by my own tastes in fics because I will go from reading a gen canon divergent/canon compliant fic (that maybe has conflict but is largely a fun time and I like it as a character/story exploration), and then the next tab will be the most horrifying thing I’ve ever read that fucks me up for like 3 days.

I’m genuinely thrilled that one of the major crossover AUs to come from PHM is actually not a romance or a ship in the slightest, it’s a twin brother dynamic.

I don’t think you guys understand how crazy rare that is. I’ve been in crossover fandoms for 13 years, and the moment you dared pose the idea of “what if these characters were siblings/had a sibling dynamic” you’d get 1000 comments saying “oh I like this more as a ship” (most of them not even mean just in a “oh i prefer this” kinda way). Doing something platonically/familial was the rare experience. So I think it’s so cool that one of the more popular AUs is “what if these guys were twins” and people wanna explore that earnestly. I love seeing people want to explore more stories talking about family and friends and all that comes with that.

That said, I’m also calling yall out /lh. You guys can’t fool me. I KNOW most of you are veteran Gravity Falls fans. I see some of these AUs and scenarios and angsty situations in where they had a falling out and then Grace is whisked away and I know. I see you with “Colt changed his name.” I see you with “Grace who crashed out during academia probably did the same to his brother.” I know a life long impact from A Tale of Two Stans when I see it. I was there man. I saw the fandom get rocked by that episode in real time. I recognize the signs of still being permanently fucked up by said episode and still finding ways to go insane over it. I know because I am one of you.

I am then also making this a PSA post where if you’re a Coltland AU fan and you haven’t seen Gravity Falls. Do it. You’ll have a good time. I promise. Don’t worry about anything I said above. It’s fine. Everything’s fine. It’s a comedy family show. Nothing bad will happen. I promise :)
