Seriously, here in Texas, to get to the next major city is an hour by plane (which of course means absorbing 5 hours of your day because airports), 3-8 hours by car, or 5-12 hours by Amtrak. If I’m going to be blowing so much daylight anyway, I might as well do it in the lowest-stress way possible. Train stations for the most part don’t have TSA, trains have lovely huge seats in coach like you’d find in first class on a plane, there’s actually good food on the train. Also, the tickets are cheap; I can go from Austin to Dallas for $25, which is less than gas. I’ve about decided to always try to take the train if I can.

I’m in this post and please please please give us more trains.

TERFs really out here thinking that male privilege comes from like. The overwhelming aura of the penis and being told not to wear skirts as a kid, and not the fact that manhood is an in-group that trans women are absolutely stricken from.

Funny thing about this post is a couple of TERFs got their hands on it and apparently the best argument they can come up with is “You fucking moron, work discrimination and sexual harassment isn’t sexism, REAL sexism is seat belts and doorknob heights.”

It’s just so clear as to be comical that TERFs define what feminist issues they do and do not care about by whether or not they can be used to draw a line between them and trans women.

I mean, I’m sure they do care, unless you bring up that trans women have a bigger wage gap than cis women first then it’s not REAL sexism

seatbelt testing uses dummies mostly based on the average adult man, which can be an issue for people whose proportions are different enough from that. Doorknobs are also I guess placed to be convenient for people in the 5′9′‘-6′1′‘ range, the idea that that’s somehow a more pressing issue than transphobia is fucking laughable

How do I tell people that sometimes if you turn your shipping brain off you can interact with media better

Like I hate to say it but if you can’t engage with any media without descending into full-on fandom-style shipping at the expense of the themes, characterization, non-romantic relationships, and general content of the work. You might need to take a step back from shipping and maybe fandom in general. (Also to the people in the notes of this post who are acting like I said shipping in general is terrible: What this post is saying is that if you interact with all media exclusively through a shipping lens you miss a lot of stuff. I’m not saying don’t ship things, I’m saying use your critical thinking skills.)

No one is better at being lame than lesbians. Mixing flannel and stripes? Lesbians can do it. Making your girlfriend a mixtape? It's cool when a lesbian does it. Anything that's traditionally lame becomes cool once a lesbian decides it's cool.
