For him, Luqing is his brother-in-law. And while they have been living together as husband and wife more than Fan ever did with Luxin, he knows that he has no place — whether in their home or in Luqing's heart. It has been proven once, Wen Xi can displace and kick him out of place anytime and Luqing would let him.

No one truly trust Xiao Fan's decision to break up his ties with the Bei family or see that he is doing this for himself. He may not be rich or influential without them, but at least he made a brave move for himself. Too bad the only person who seems to recognize it is his coworker. Even if Xiao Fan decided to leave everything he owned from the Bei, he still kept the scarf Lu Qing gifted him and with it, he kept the memories of their happier times.

Obviously any peace of mind he gets is always disturbed by his family and once again we had his good-for-nothing brother who made a mess and it's always Xiao Fan who has to go after the help of the Bei family to save his family. He isn't helped by anyone because even Zi Yang schemed against him to force him to contact Lu Qing. He didn't do it from the good of his heart. He was just helping Lu Qing without even telling him.

Everyone keeps repeating to Xiao Fan that he should be thankful Lu Qing has a tiny interest in him and that he should curate it as long as possible because he could be replaced by people better than him. It's just hurtful words. I knew Zi Yang wasn't a kind soul (and I'm so disappointed of him for no real reason because of it), but the way he told Xiao Fan that is only goal should be pleasing Lu Qing is kind of degrading the bond they have. It keeps whatever they built under the toxic mantle it was wearing at first, denying the layers of intimacy and affection that started growing before Xiao Fan's family came to the city.

It wasn't perfect, it wasn't healthy, but for a short time Xiao Fan was happy and didn't feel like he was only leeching on the Bei's family. Every time his family or others are meddling and coming to his life, is to push him in a direction he doesn't truly want for himself. I feel bad because I believe he truly has feelings for Lu Qing. And those feelings are reciprocated. Perhaps, Lu Qing didn't stop Xiao Fan from leaving because he knew he needed to make this brave move for himself.

I just wish they had the time to truly develop their bond without people meddling in the middle, tinted the bond they can create. Their toxic love could change to something genuine without the interference of others. I don't blame Xiao Fan. He is not responsible for how the others treat him. Why should he be the one to change? Why is it not the others who should mind their own business and let him be?

I've read many people saying they wish Xiao Fan was less of a doormat, but I feel like it's unfair for him. Why Lu Qing isn't more talkative? More expressive in his love? Why is he never blamed for keeping the status quo? He is the one who is rich and powerful, he has more chance to make a move than Xiao Fan. Also, if Xiao Fan's family could just disappear somewhere else and live Xiao Fan's alone that would be such a great gift.
