#overthinking things

Also, since every uma we've met is a girl, can they interbreed with humans (There's a line in the anime of a human man calling an uma a daughter, I think. I've seen a screenshot but I'm not sure if it's real or not.)? Are there human men who have uma mothers and sisters? Could their daughters be uma musume rather than humans? Can a random human couple, due to the fun that is genetics, have an uma daughter?

Okay so I've been overthinking about this for a while and I just need to get it off my chest because my brain won't shut up about it 😅

I'm in some fandoms that have problematic creators - specifically Harry Potter, Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss, and Yandere Simulator. These are three of my hyperfixations and they're really special to me, but I want to make it crystal clear that I DO NOT support the creators behind them or their controversial actions!

JK Rowling's transphobia, Vivziepop's controversies, YandereDev's... everything 💀 - I don't support any of that shit. But I still love the worlds, characters, stories, and fandom communities that exist around these pieces of media.

This blog is a safe space for people in these fandoms! You can enjoy Harry Potter without supporting JK Rowling's bigotry. You can love Hazbin Hotel without agreeing with everything Vivziepop has done. You can be interested in Yandere Simulator while acknowledging YandereDev's problems. Separating the art from the artist is valid and doesn't make you a bad person!

The reason I'm making this post is because I'm honestly overthinking and getting anxious that my mutuals might be looking at me with disgust for being in these fandoms. I keep worrying that people are gonna unfollow me or think I'm a terrible person just because I hyperfixate on media with problematic creators 😭

You don't have to be in these fandoms yourself! You don't have to participate in any of them or even like them! I'm not asking anyone to get into something they're uncomfortable with. All I'm asking is - could you please just respect this at the bare minimum? Like, don't unfollow me or assume I support horrible things just because I enjoy these fictional worlds?

The fandom communities themselves are often way better than the creators anyway. Fan artists, fanfic writers, cosplayers, people making theories and headcanons - THEY'RE the ones who make these fandoms special and keep them alive. The fans create so much amazing content that's often better and more inclusive than what the original creators made!

I'm literally sitting here overthinking and wondering if I did the right thing by posting this or if I'm just gonna make things worse. But I felt like I needed to say something because the anxiety was eating me alive 💀

So yeah... that's it. I hope my mutuals can understand and respect this. If you can't and you need to unfollow, I guess I understand, but it would really hurt. These fandoms mean a lot to me and I don't want to feel like I have to hide parts of myself or my interests 💜

Guess we'll see which mutuals end up unfollowing me over this... hopefully nobody does but I'm anxious about it 🥲

Oh and just so you know - if this post ends up getting me a ton of hate, I'll probably delete it as quick as possible (assuming I'm not asleep when it happens) and we can all just act like I never posted this at all lmao 💀

Now I am one to know very well that J&H are not split personalities nor "brain sides", but the similarities are so neat I don't see why I couldn't dive in a little deeper into representation. I know this has most likely been looked into before as them being the two brain sides, but I wonder if ever in a much more real life situation like in split brain patients, (their experiments are trippy, I recommend watching them), not just in a hypothetical sense.

As Hyde representing the right brain, it definitely works as a really good "villain origin story". Since that hemisphere does not have the ability to speak, when working and connected with the left brain it is forced to submit to the more "analytical and reasoning" side. When Hyde is set free, he now has a voice and a freedom in what to do, where now the left brain has to submit (hence Jekyll not being able to change back since reasoning isn't priority, only want). That feeling is intoxicating for one who's never known it.

The right brain is primarily used for senses, identification, etc., so Hyde only cares about chasing his desires. Now able to figure out things for himself, without having to do whatever the left brain says, anything is possible. That feeling of unexplainable actions is very obvious in split brain patients (the left hand, controlled by the right brain, draws something that the left brain doesn't know the reason for) where the horror of this story being a possibility is much more conceivable.

I have a friend. We’ve been friends since 2005, and have lived in the same city the entire time. We went to grad school together and worked in the same lab for 5-6 years. I wouldn’t necessarily call her a very close friend, but she does know me well, we’ve been trauma bonded, and truth be told I don’t really have anyone much closer at this point in my life who’s not family.

Friend has a 2 year old and a newborn. She still wants to hang out sometimes, but lately it’s been outings where I tag along with her to some children’s venue. I’ve gone to Legoland. I’ve gone to the aquarium. I’ve had to really help out on these trips too. I’ve carried this child or pushed the stroller while she’s carrying the child. We get some conversation in but frankly not that much. I’m also not a huge fan of paying admission to places I’m not actually enjoying. If she asked me to come along as a favor (like a friend would ask with help moving) I would actually do it in a heartbeat. But I’m kind of annoyed that it’s phrased more or less as “are you interested in…?” No one would ask this way if it was a task they were asking for help with.

I don’t have kids of my own. I don’t want to grow distant from every single friend who has kids. What’s the most tactful way to answer a text like this?

It was easier when this kid was tiny and we’d just go on walks and talk, but as the kid gets older she (rightfully) wants more attention.
