🕯️ ⇢ on a scale from 1 to 10, how much do you enjoy editing? why is that?

Editing my own work? probably an 8. I usually can't immediately shift into editing mode right after finishing a first draft, but usually if I come back months later, it's a pretty fun process for me. Sometimes I find writing a first draft harder than editing, since the first draft is about getting the ideas out in the first place, and sometimes I struggle to communicate things from my brain into words. So once it's written, editing is more about making it comprehensive and effective, which is easier for me at least.

I enjoy editing other people's work even more though mainly because I don't have to fight the inner credit while working on it. And I like helping people extract the best possible story, which is the main goal of editing. I find that extremely rewarding.

Octavia Butler if not for the Xenogenesis Trilogy alone (It's honestly my favorite science fiction ever). I think even with her books I don't like as much (looking at you Clay's Ark) she still makes really bold choices with plot and isn't afraid to get weird with it.

🐇 ⇢ do you prefer writing original characters, reader inserts, or a mix of both? 

I prefer a secret, fourth answer, which is usually just using already existing characters from the piece of media I'm writing about.

I only use OCs for video games with a customizable MC, like in Mass Effect and the Fallout franchise. Even then, I've occasionally chosen to ignore the MC entirely to focus on side characters I found more interesting.
