And I'm not even done yet. I didn't mention the Clex fanfiction before for nothing. Can we talk about THE FACE Clark made when Lex introduced his brother? Can we talk about the breeding ground for jealousy Clark would be if he had to watch Lex pamper his brother every single day? I had never seen Clark more jealous than in that episode. He has often had bad relationships with the boyfriends of Lana, Chloe and Lois, but in what I've seen of the show so far, I had never seen him hate a guy at first sight as much as he hated Lucas. With the others, at least he would find out they were acting suspicious first, or that they had powers at the very least; he hated Lucas before even seeing his face. I find it so funny that Lex was the only one who didn't accuse him of being jealous, when it was because of him that Clark had the worst attitude—he even accidentally hurt Lucas!!!!
Also, can I say it? I'm going to say it. Lucas IS RED CLARK. Do you remember how Clark behaved under the influence of Red Kryptonite? He was literally like Lucas. He would buy the same kind of junk, get mixed up with mobsters, have that same “I do what I want, I don't care about pleasing anyone” attitude, the same clothes, everything. So it's not just that there is a guy who is stealing his spot in his incestuous fantasy (one he isn't aware has a sexual origin with Lex) but that same guy is everything Clark represses every day and strives not to be. Yet, that guy is getting everything Clark has been forbidden from having: being as close as he wants to Lex without a crowd on his back telling him it's wrong, Lex buying him all the gifts he wants, infinite patience when he makes mistakes or acts selfishly, and promises that he will love and accept him no matter what. Lucas, the worst version of Clark, receives all the forbidden fruits that have been denied to Clark and feels none of his religious guilt nor is he blamed by his loved ones.
