Ooooooh my god ooooooh my god his crying face his voice breaking he's above all else HURT he almost got jailed as collateral by his father after he once again begged to be part of his life. Like what a crazy episode for Lex... started begging his dad to put him in charge of Evil Project because Look He Can Be Evil Too, got sad and hurt over seeing a few corpses (Lionel would never), got interrogated for five hours upon which he refused to incriminate Lionel in any way (Lionel also would never) only to then be framed by Lionel himself... and like of course Lex is not an angel here he did want to be in charge of the Torturing People Project but it's so fucking obvious it's all posturing and what he really wants is to be taken seriously by Lionel, which he will never ever be, Lionel would rather have a catatonic Lex than a Lex that can fight him on equal grounds, and is by being reminded of that once again that all that post Shattered/Asylum rose-tinted glasses he had put in regards to Lionel caring for him gets, well, shattered. Taking Lionel down is not something born from a moral sense of right and wrong but from heartbreak. Hurting Lionel hurts Lex (hence his emotional reaction to it), but it's the only way he will be able to survive ):

Adam wasn't able to escape, Lucas wasn't able to escape, Lex sure as hell isn't able to escape so tell me Clark do you think you can outrun him? Because when you least expect you will be throw into a kryptonite jail and get tortured under the guise of Lionel's love for his boys
