i found this while researching an essay the other day and didn't stop laughing at it for about ten minutes
Dare I say.... Rome hockey au? I just need Brutus and Antony on opposing teams and having a weirdly homoerotic rivalry.
I need them to have whatever this is.

Now that itâs March, Iâm glad to see everyone else getting as excited about killing Caesar as I am every day.
Tom Hiddleston, Hayley Atwell and Jamie Lloyd huddle together and pose for photographs during the opening night party of Much Ado About Nothing on February 19, 2025
These violent delights
Have violent ends
And in their triumph die
Like fire and powder
Which, as they kiss,
Consume.
Except its Regulus and James as Hannibal and Will, completely consumed by one another. So much so that it leads them to their impending deaths.
did i just get SHAKESPEARE X HANNIBAL X MARAUDERS thrown at me. wtf. who is watching me?
alas, after joking yesterday with a friend that i haven't been properly sick in a year or so, and how i'm afraid that it will hit me hard the next time i do get sick... now i am indeed sick. so i have resorted to the best sick behaviour, whilst the sickness is not peaking: knitting socks while watching films.
and that brought me to thinking:
which of these films, that are on my i'm-sick-what-do-i-watch-list, would you most like to watch when sick?
Kiki's delivery service (1989)
The Hobbit: An unexpected Journey (2012)
Three wished for Cinderella (1973)
Manitou's Shoe (2001)
Portrait of a Lady on Fire (2019)
Much ado about nothing, Shakespeare Retold (2005)
The emperors new groove (2006)

âDaffodils, that come before the swallow dares, and take // The winds of March with beautyâŚâ
â William Shakespeare The Winterâs Tale, IV, 4
a month ago i picked up a book on stage directing in my schoolâs black box and opened to a random page and it was something about making shakespearean actors rehearse by adding the word fuck to their lines to turn the archaic language into something familiar for the emotional resonance (of course taking it out as rehearsals move along to fix rhythm/etc but just to start off) and the example it gave was the solid flesh speech. like. iirc it was specifically âbut two fucking months deadâ
and like. im obsessed with this. as a concept. not even for acting i just think itâs so fucking funny. to be or not to be, thatâs the fucking question. is this a fucking dagger i see before me. this is the excellent fuckery of the world -
What fucking fire is in mine ears? Here is my fucking butt.
âPress not a falling man too fucking far!â - Lord Chamberlain, Henry VIII, Act 3 scene 2
One of my absolute favourite things in the world is a âfuck runâ. If the energy is too low, or the intensity is dropping the director might ask you to run a scene, or sometimes even the whole play, and insert âfuckâ or any of its derivatives wherever you feel the urge to. I have never experienced anything so quickly and ferociously liven a scene. Itâs like a defibrillator.Â
Once did the last half of Oedipus Rex as a âfuck runâ leading to such incredible double entendres as: âOedipus, son, dear child, who motherfucking bore youâ.
Other highlights from times Iâve either taken part or seen a fuck run:
âI would eat his heart in the fucking marketplaceâ âI have, of late, though wherefore I know the fuck not, lost all my motherfucking mirth.â âYour royal fatherâs fucking murdered.â âFuckfuckfuck. O, by fucking who?â âGentlemen, remember that I am a fucking assâ âWhy the fuck did you bring these fucking daggers from the place? They must lie fucking there! Fuck! Go fucking carry them, and smear the sleepy grooms with fucking bloodâ âScrew your courage the FUCKING sticking place and weâll not failâ
my shakespeare company does âfuckâ runs, they really do work wonders. we also have drunk runs (exactly what it sounds like) and will occasionally use a phrase other than fuck just for fun
My wife found her college notes from her "Travel Literature" class and now she's all mad again.
Not that i blame her
It's Travel Literature but they literally only read Shakespeare. A man who never traveled out of England
The justification?
"he wrote a lot about travel."
No? He didn't?
He wrote things that took place in different places but thats not the same thing?
But anyway she was mad then and she's mad now and tbh its funny
These were taken within the first 20 min of that damn class. I was extra pissed because all the other classes available that time I already taken so I needed to stay for that one to get my credits. Enjoy the real time notes I took then XD
I will keep talking about that fucked up class until the end of my days. Thank you for "of course honey"-d me when I start getting into it XD. It will happen again XD
Todayâs line that makes me think of Devilâs Minion is from a Shakespeare play, the Merchant of Venice:
âI think he only loves the world for himâ
if we don't get to see them act Shakespeare together in season 3 istg imma start a flight

An Opportune Kiss - by ME

Disney's Aladdin
(Happy [late] Valentines Day! 2025)
Titania. Come sit thee down upon this flowery bed,
While I thy amiable cheeks do coy,
And stick musk-roses in thy sleek smooth head,
And kiss thy fair large ears, my gentle joy.
William Shakespeare: The Complete Works, A Midsummer-Night's Dream (Act IV, Scene I)
