Haven't said it yet but its so nice to hear more songs in other languages than English. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to be able to understand the lyrics right off the bat but it's so much more enjoyable to have more languages
One thing i love about eurovsion is that if you do it once, it's basically a job for life. They will just keep bringing you back.
Me: "Bara Bada Bastu is a great fun song, it could be this year's Rim Tim Tagi Dim or Cha Cha Cha."
Husband: "Are you casting a spell at me?"
Israel really said "we'll just send a survivor of a horrific tragedy we use as the excuse for all the heinous shit we've done in the past two years in a blatant attempt at emotional blackmail, with the most generic Eurovision ballad possible, that will surely make those idiots forgive us we're even here, no?"

EBU: you cannot say âKantâ
Malta: okay, well just moan in a super horny way thatâs even worse than saying âKantâ
Malicious compliance, gotta love it. Now thatâs a diva!
âEBU wants Eurovision to be more family friendly and has asked the artists to tone down the nudity and inappropriate references this year. That went to hell immediatelyâ
- Edward af SillĂŠn, Swedish commentator, about Australia
Milkshake Man and Laika Girl join the Vegetarian Pussy Boys as acts too iconic for Eurovision.

respectfully sir. What??
I think the best most human thing in the world is strangers doing a silly thing together
Examples:
- guy at work "Yes, and -" ing the bit me and my coworker were doing where we pretended to be owners of a fantasy medieval tavern not minimum wage retail staff
- at the gay club when Die Young by Kesha came on and two hundred people, all dancing and drinking separately, jumped up and down to make the "- beat of the drums *STOMP STOMP*" as loud as possible
- person who watched me stomp round the beach singing a made up song about breakfast foods to name a cat after and suggested more breakfast foods that would be good cat names
- guy who started a dance off with everyone across the road while waiting for the lights to change
- very tiny girl at the pharmacy interviewing everyone in the queue and every single one of us in turn sat down and answered this toddler's questions like we were on Letterman
The three pillars of humanity, in no particular order, are Joy, Absurdity, and Sharing
The contagious, fatal illness in deer, elk and moose must be taken seriously, say experts as it takes hold in the US and reaches other count
This part of the article stands out in particular:
Studies show that having healthy wild carnivores on a landscape can help weed out sick CWD-carrying elk and deer, but states in the northern Rockies have adopted policies aimed at dramatically reducing wolves, bears and mountain lions. Other policies continue to contradict scientific advice. Wyoming has attracted national criticism for refusing to shutter nearly two dozen feedgrounds where tens of thousands of elk and deer gather in close confines every winter and are fed artificial forage to bolster their numbers. One of the largest feedgrounds is operated by the federal government: the National Elk Refuge, where more than 8,000 elk cluster, and CWD has already been detected. Tom Roffe, former chief of animal health for the US Fish and Wildlife Service, which manages the refuge, and Bruce Smith, a former refuge senior biologist, have said Wyoming has created ripe conditions for an outbreak of the disease, with consequences that will negatively ripple throughout the region. âThis has been a slowly expanding epidemic with a growth curve playing out on a decades scale, but now weâre seeing the deepening consequences and they could be severe,â Roffe says. âUnfortunately, whatâs happening with this disease was predictable and weâre living with the consequences of some decisions that were rooted in denial.â Roffe and others say the best defence is having healthy landscapes where unnatural feeding of wildlife is unnecessary and where predators are not eliminated but allowed to carry out their role of eliminating sick animals. âAs Yellowstone has been for generations, it is the most amazing and best place to get wildlife conservation right,â Dorsey says. âIt would be such a shame if we continued doing something as foolish as concentrating thousands of elk and deer, making them more vulnerable to catching and spreading this catastrophic disease, when we didnât have to.â
How many times does it have to be repeated until people listen? Predators are GOOD for deer management and keeping herds healthy. While there are many good hunters who understand the importance of predators, there's still far too many who hate them and see them as competition. I still regularly see American hunters online churning out the same lines of: "kill a coyote, save a fawn" and "the only good wolf is a dead one".
Feeding wildlife also once again proves to be a terrible idea. Whether it's feedgrounds and deer feeders, they only benefit the type of hunters who want large numbers of deer around, while having serious negative effects on the deer themselves. There's simply no need for it.
I've seen a lot of fics disappear from my bookmarks, some 10+ years old, because they were added to an unrevealed collection. It makes me wonder if people realize what your fic being added to a collection actually means and if the authors approved it automatically without realizing what would happen.
If someone adds your fic to their collection, they can hide it! They can mark the collection as unrevealed and your fic will be unreadable to anyone other than them! If you're writing works for a surprise event, like a Secret Santa, this is really nice.
But if you're just writing and someone adds your fic to a collection for their own personal use and marks it as unrevealed, that. . . really sucks.
I bookmarked this fic in 2017, almost 5 years ago. Knowing me, the fic itself was probably at least a couple years old at the time I bookmarked it.
This is a 5+ year old fic that is completely inaccessible now because it was added to a collection that, as far as I can tell, is literally just for the collection owner's own reference. There's almost 30 fics in the collection, all of them unrevealed.
Please don't blindly accept collection requests and if your works ARE in a collection, make sure that they aren't being hidden without your knowledge or consent.
Are you able to remove a work from collection after you allow it or is it just a story that's just fucked?
Yes, you can remove your works! From the faq:
If you're the creator of the work:
1) Select the "Edit" button from the work's page and scroll down to the "Associations" section.
2) Select the red (Ă) beside the collection name you want to remove next to "Post to Collections / Challenges".
3) Select "Post" to apply the change. The work will be immediately removed from the collection.
I'm not sure if you get an alert if your fic is marked as unrevealed though, so keep an eye on the collections that your works are part of.
There's also an option in your preferences to accept collection invitations automatically. I would highly recommend making sure that that option is not selected.
I realize this might be a dirty trick pro-censorship fandom harassers might try to pull on some people, so yeah.
Boosting for visibility.

âBe curious about what youâre writing aboutâ is not stock Common Writing Advice but it really, really should be. There are a lot of written works that fail due to the authors just being obviously incurious about what they are writing about.
Yeah we've all seen the opposite though. I do NOT need 10 pages of information on the Paris sewage system mid-story

Between this with Jumba and Pleakley I get to why some parts of the internet is freaking out because how lately Disney have been with letting us down with remakes but also I mean I'm very skeptical myself but also I kind of want to give it a try but then again I don't want to be disappointed
Donât watch this movie, Iâm begging. This is more than just complaining about how disney doesnât need to do live action remakes. This movie in particular has already exploited the lands of Hawaiâi by filming there and will continue to do so by promoting tourism there, which is destroying the islands and harms locals and indigenous natives who are already getting pushed out of their homes by foreigners due to tourism and gentrification.
This movie also promotes whitewashing. They casted a lightskinned wasian woman to play Nani instead of an actual indigenous Hawaiian woman. This movie is promoting the erasure of Hawaiian people getting to tell stories about themselves, thereâs not a single Hawaiian person behind the writing or directing for the production of this movie and its clear that unlike the original cartoon, itâs made with a clear lack of respect for its people.
Do not watch this movie.
