Mister Du Lac. How long have you been Dead?
once u start viewing the season through this lens u notice how literally every action in the show is designed to punish louis
prettiest girl in all the world
š these are the four artists who, in light of the most recent season, appear to have carried iwtv on their backs while the white showrunner got all the credit. very impressed with their work not just writing/directing/editing-wise but because their presence clearly set a certain tone in that writers' room. and i imagine it took quite a bit of effort to maintain it, considering what that writers' room turned into once they were no longer in the picture. i'm really excited to keep an eye on their careers and i hope they move on to do great things with more creative control

Rolin is so weird. He threw other characters and relationships under the bus for "Loustat soulmatism monogamy agenda" and yet he still did a terrible job with Loustat because their scenes feel unearned after Lestat spent majority of this season being a prick. To Rolin, Louis is nothing more than a groveling prop to his favorite white man, he's used to make Lestat look better.
I think we have to come to the conclusion that the geniuses and heart behind Loustat WASNāT Rolin or Hannah. :)
I have laid out my thoughts in my other post about why I think Rolin is disinterested in any relationship Lestat has with a man. Or any romantic relationship he has really. I think he wants Lestat āI get to fuuuck hot womenā de Lioncourt
I loved Loustat s1-2 soOoo muchā¦. But god did I love Loumand too. And Danlou. All the ships had such great chemistry and they were all horrible and riddled with abuse. But also love. But most of all they were interesting and the relationships had arcs and character moments earned
TVL wrestles with ideas and concepts more than it does character and character arcs. It explores the idea of failure, creative failure, self harm, self sabotage and inability to feel loved.
Which makes for less interesting character dynamics and relationships in comparison to s1-2 which were relationship based story telling⦠and a better written and structured story too.
Rolin doesnāt get Louis we know this. He doesnāt get Claudia. He doesnāt get Armand. He doesnāt get Daniel. And I donāt think he cares too, because thatās not his intention to do so. He wants to explore ideas and use these characters to do so.
If I was interviewing Louis de pointe du lac I would ask him nice questions like what's your favorite color and are you enjoying the weather this summer I would not make him cry and ruin his marriage like Daniel
Why do guys have a problem with prideful? Iām sorry but that makes sense to me he is the more prideful out of all of them. Itās not really a bad thing it just informs more of his actions. (Obviously they all have various levels of pride) they mean louis would no way stoop down low enough to give armand what he wants in a regular sense. (And he wouldnāt get have that character arc of him not excepting what was wrong with loumand, but understanding it) louis didnāt care about him after Dubai, he wouldnāt even listen to him trying to make amends? Cmon, lestat is at least clown/attention seeking enough that you can poke him to make fun of you or give attention to you. And he does, that what brat means, Itās childish defience. What sets apart louis is that he isnāt childish, and his pride is one of his core characteristics. Armand knew he wouldnāt be able convince louis to take him seriously again/or give attention to him. Rollin also says he goes to this obv from the most fucked up route because he is Armand he is spiriling etc. you guys need to be able wrap your head around the horror of it a little bit. This is a good moment for louis, he can protect his pride -he didnāt just give something to Armand willingly because he knows he doesnāt deserve it, while still needing to get out a lingering guilt he has over the the fact that he did see/interact armand in a very vulnerable place -and know about a very vulnerable fact about him, but couldnāt sympathize with him before because they werenāt in a good relationship. And Armand had power over him. It instead built biterness and resentment. Itās still a fucked up scene, but rollin isnāt talking about it as if it wasnāt. Idk, I genuinely donāt understand rejecting the fact that louis is prideful. This isnāt about what armand deserves, itās about telling a compelling story. They clearly canāt kill off armand, louis havenāt killed armand. Why? They need to make sense how these character can still exist around each other. They have a different understanding of loumand then you guys I get that, I think some of you thought armand would just be over louis. I never thought that, they didnāt have closure. Louis did, but his pride get on the way of him realizing that armand wouldnāt get over it that easily. Thatās what made Louis vulnerable to be malipulated by armand again, because he didnāt think of him as a danger lurking around in the corner. He was entirely dismissive of him when Daniel asked if he knew where armand was. He is convinced he would just disappear like that? This is the blinding part of Louisās pride, just because he is over armand just like that, and he hates him now rightfully so, and doesnāt wanna think or talk about him again, he canāt really anticipate armand harboring any resentment over all of this. Lestat has a different version of that pride as well. But I really believe itās Louisās one of defining characters. And itās not a stand alone negative trait either? At this point I genuinely have to ask what do you think his core traits are, -things that he has more of that separate him from other characters, I donāt like to ever label them as that easily, but some of them have to be positive and negative. Prideful, stubborn, compassionate, introspective, empathetic, melancholic, romantic, avoidant/cold(more as a stress response).. these are things i easily associate him with
Louis in first two seasons of this show had pride but he was in no way āthe most pridefulā especially compared to someone like Lestat who in this very season calls himself a God. Or Daniel?? Louis has always been crippled by self-doubt and self-hatred, that is why wants to kill himself three times. In this season he does not stand up for himself once.
I really wish I could engage with people better, but every time I get an ask defending this season I just donāt know what to do. I cannot make you watch S1-2 and understand what you are looking at.
I used to argue about this show all the time on Reddit and people would tell me the most ridiculous things like Louis was not dissociated in 2x06. Am I supposed to pull up screenshots and point at them and say āthis facial expression actually shows what dissociation looks likeā? Am I supposed to point at JAās face and say, āthis is what the human emotion of guilt looks like?ā Am I supposed to go over and over and over again about the context and the reasons as to why Louis does what he does in the first two seasons of this show, which is fundamentally a very basic story unless you donāt want to believe any of it is true?
Watch the show. Pretend that you believe Louis is a person just like the other characters are people. Pretend that you think sometimes what he says are actually how he actually feels instead of just believing that he is lying unless he is degrading himself (this season, because apparently every other time he put himself down in the first two seasons was BS). Then come back and talk to me.
Girl help, they are having the "Uppity Negro" conversation in real time behind this racist vampire show like they've discovered something deep
On to my vision from my last post⦠no like listen to Me-
And then- then these two also enter trying to court Louis
Jacob saying he pushed back on some parts of this script just means it worse before. He already said that some takes of the seance scene were āharsher.ā

Since Iām in the crossover mood recently⦠imagine Tom Cruise Lestat with show Louisā¦. No okokok Listen to me listen to me-
TV Guide article is a long, hateful coke rant.
I donāt care. Keep telling Jacob he needs to get away from these psychotic people.
This mf talking about āpoor Lestat and his grammar and being put through the ringerā when Louis was tortured, humiliated, near death and forced to apologize to his century long abuser. This sums this man up right here.
I read the Rolin tvguide article so you donāt have to⦠and yea.
I will only be discussing the parts that I have thoughts about.
Hm the phrasingā¦
Itās funny how thereās no mention of Nicki or Louis.. as I talked about in this post. This is why I think Rolin is uninterested in Lestatās queer relationship and we wonāt be seeing any on screen any more. He wants the Lestat cool Guy having sex with women show.
Yea they didnāt care for how this would make sense story wise and they only wanted lestat near death sequence and Louis lynching.
To my other point that Rolin has no interest in Loustat⦠see in this question how he doesnāt mention LOUSTAT at all?!? He doesnāt confirm love of their lives and moves on to talk about AKASHA⦠heās uninterested in Loustat and only cares for Lestatās relationships with women⦠as seen in TVL with Baby Jenks, Dee, Antoinette and Gabriella.
And donāt get me started on the Loumand of it allā¦. 77 years of shutting him out?!?
Louis was with Armand to punish himself, Armand and Lestat for Claudiaās death⦠AND ARMAND GOES ALONG WITH IT. He wasnāt forced!! But Rolin clearly never watched s1-2 or cared for the queer relationshipsā¦sigh.
I was surprised Rolin compared Armand and Regina to Louis and Lestat?!?! Is he actually saying Lestat was abusive to Louis or is he saying Lestat used Louis? I⦠hm⦠𤨠caught off guard with this one
Why?! Iām glad this got cut š why would that be important??
Finishing with this one. And I can feel the insecurity bleeding out from him š
The more I learn about this season the more sick to my stomach I feel.

A lot of Rolin being mask off lately. Fascinating that heās doubled down. I could pick a lot of quotes here.
Yes, if you saw me say I would stop looking at the press tour no you didnāt.

To think that the only character who was truly in Louis's corner this season, with no expectations on either side was Lemuel. Truly. Truly I teared up a little while seeing a gifset of "safe?" Safe. Nearly home "you get what you wanted out there?" Yeah. Yeah. Like that is just such a friend thing to do- like text me when you get home type of thing, and Louis desperately needed/needs a friend where there are no expectations.
Hurts me to think that Louis truly had no friends. With s3 it gets much more heavily established that for so long, Louis had been trapped in such an hostile environment and even the person he reached out to, to finally take back some control in his hands would eventually end up participating in brutalizing him.
I was so excited to see the Danlou dynamic after this book. Daniel Molloy is an awful man and a selfish asshole through and through, but I never imagined him to be so actively malicious and cause harm to Louis. Last season when a whole bunch of vampires out there were calling for Louis's death, and you could see Louis being visibly troubled; suddenly there was this one voice going: Louis? Louis du Lac? How are you? And Louis just perked up a little. So to take that dynamic, this mix of selfishness and coldness and care and awe and maybe even a bit of control ( Louis was closely following his career- there's a theory that maybe Daniel's apartment is actually owned by Louis as in he is the landlord etc), and turn it into a gore fest for shock value with an added dose of anti blackness....it's just all so bleak. IWTV s1-2 were never faithful to the books true; but they changed what they changed to elevate the source material. How does this do anything for the regard book Daniel held for book Louis? I heard that apparently in the books as he lays dying and is being fed the blood by Armand; Daniel imagines Louis welcoming him into his immortal life. What the fuck did they do to my Danlou man..
And there were so many openings to turn this around. Back at the diner Louis did end up offering Daniel an olive branch, only for him to sell Louis out to Talamasca. Like they could have had Daniel assisting Louis in that mission at the very least, since he could hold his own in front of the fang gang with Lestat. Also remember how we thought Louis was in on his beheading š like it could have been like Louis coming to slowly with Dr Fareed trying to work how to reattach Louis's head and Daniel could have been sitting by him going, "oh my God I thought I lost you for a moment there" and Louis would be chuckling fondly at him as he gathered his bearings ( Louis always could laugh when he was around Daniel back in Dubai) man fuck this man š
