One thing I am a bit confused about though is that how does Rocky understand Grace? Because Grace made a translator that lets him understand Rocky...but how does Rocky understand him? Is it the perfect memory thing? When Grace was building the translator, Rocky memorized the words spoken aloud by Grace, with respect to each of the symphony he ( Rocky) was making?
You're very misterious. No, I'm not.

“There is a theory that watching unbearable stories about other people lost in grief and rage is good for you – may cleanse you of your darkness. Do you want to go down to the pits of yourself all alone? Not much. What if an actor could do it for you? Isn’t that why they are called actors? They act for you. You sacrifice them to action. And this sacrifice is a mode of deepest intimacy of you with your own life.”
— Anne Carson, from Grief Lessons: Four Plays by Euripides; Tragedy: A Curious Art Form.
The truth is… I think you saw something that other people can’t see. What? Some people have a special gift. You could be one of them. What do they see? They see strangers. What do you mean “strangers”? There are people who are a bit strange. They can blend in with the rest of us. You have to look closely to know. There is always something different there. It’s just hard to notice. Closely. You have to look at them very closely. Telling them apart is… difficult. So, you have to be careful. What should I do if I meet one? Pretend they’re not there. And should you meet one of them… do not look their way. What if I already did? Then you pretend you didn’t see anything strange. Just act like…you saw nothing.

@userdramas event 20: revival @userdramas creator bingo: black & white ↳ light shop (2024) — how far will you go to save the one you love from purgatory? could you weave them back to life? would you follow them to the living in your half life?
In that place... other people were able to remember each other. Why was it different for us? I tried so hard, but I still couldn't get him to remember. Could it be... he didn't actually love me? I really hope... that he remembers me and calls my name again.
The Light Shop being the parallel to a hospital, ICU in particular, is kind of mindblowing to me. It's genius in the most bizzare way. Both as a transit spot for souls detached from their bodies. Both guarded places that will ask whoever is visiting without any appointment to make sure the visitor have a solid purpose to even enter at all. Both the brightest place to reach to through possibly darkest paths in some souls lives. One warms the freezing cold and the other drains the warmth out while also attaching lines of life support until it's time to depart. They're both never the place to let go, forever, despite remaining as two consistent places full of lights for as long as time allows them to, until they welcome another one of the lost ones
light shop is literally "what if the will to live everyone is talking about is the people that love you? what if it's the people who once loved you and the people who are waiting for you and all the ways in which you are loved that give life back to you?" and what it happens when you want that love above all else, would you choose to stay with the one you love, would you be forced to go, would you regret making them leave only to haunt them, because to haunt them is the only way you can love them? and love is waiting an eternity for your daughter because you promised her you'd be back, and it's going against the order of the universe to give her what she needs, not once, but twice. as many times as you can. because, at the same time the show tells you love is sacrifice, it also tells you it isn't. it's a sacrifice, in the sense that they're letting a part of them go so the other can live, but it's also not, because there's nothing they want more than to give life to the people they love. what if love is truly a nurse caring for people because she was once cared for, and she understands what it means to come back, what it means to listen to the ones no one can reach.
I said on twitter as well, but the show is so simple, it could've been so straightforward with its narrative, but it takes time to show each and every character's journey, and how love is quite literally stitching them back to life, because, above all else, kang full cares about its characters in a way that makes us want them all to get their happy endings. and isn't it heartbreaking when the only happiness some of them can achieve is by being haunted?
Do you really think you can leave this place?

Why do you wear sunglasses indoors? Because it is very bright. My eyes have gone bad from working here. Yeah, maybe you should do something about that. Lower the lights? It's too bright in here. I can't do that. I mean, after all this is a light shop.
