Most people I know had that one movie as a kid; that one movie that they would watch over and over and over to the resigned acceptance of their parents. Iāve always thought that movie says something about a person. What was your movie?
Shoutout to this queen from IWTV episode 2 for 1. cheating on her husband 2. being a true yuri warrior in 1910 louisiana and 3. wearing the largest hat so far in the series. look at that thing. you could fit her head in there twice over.
NO. THEY WANTED LOUIS DE POINTE DU LAC TO BE THEIR NIGGA FOR S3.
Get with me and show hoes what real niggas do.
Don't let respectability politics get in the way NOW.
You want to "humble" Louis - then let me put him on that pedestal so it's worth your white ass time.
All my life, I had to grind and hustle
I had to work like Kobe just to shine like Russell (Ooh)
They say, "Glad you made it, it happened over night" (Ooh)
They said, "Damn, you changed," I'm like, "Show you right"
Who do you think the Anon is from?

I said this in response to another post, but FIC WRITERS ARE MISSING OUT IF YOU IGNORE THE POTENTIAL OF WRITING A BLACK IMMORTAL.
LEMUEL MAY HAVE SEEN TIMBUKTU IN IT'S GLORY AND WATCHED CHURCHES BE BUILT IN WHAT IS NOW ETHIOPIA.
He might well have watched Alexander be welcomed in Egypt and thought him a foolish boy.
Aughhhh.
The POTENTIAL.
Am I tripping??
I hate the type of white/non-Black person that will reblog a "Well AKCHWALLY, the police didn't come from slave patrols" before they reblog anything pointing out the plethora of police agencies calling Black people found lynched in trees "suicides".
āI wonder how Lestat is taking the divorceā
Lestat:
Revenge
somethin about the same nonblacks and especially white people that dont even think black ppl can be gay or queer tryna do blanket morality on black people as a whole and pointing fingers of anti queer behaviors when white supremacy is the biggest culprit to homo/transphobic rhetoricā¦ā¦

The concept that Lestat would willingly come to Paris to lynch Claudia and then dress up like the degrading character she played every night to mock his co-conspirator for daring to do what he also did..yeah Rolin did not think that through
Found these shoes for men on a website⦠Louis would wear these modern times š„²

some other thoughts on abuse apologia in tvl. like i said before, in my opinion the writers took abuse-centric stance, either because they find this type of the narrative more "brave" and "interesting" or because they have certain beliefs they wanted to express through the fictional characters without facing much backlash.
i'm trying to connect everything from iwtv and tvl and see the statement they tried to make, and obviously iwtv is a little more careful in that regard, most likely because the writers' room had inner disagreements, and the political/cultural climate was a bit different. tvl has a more straightforward vision. not a great one of course.
tvl says that there are "real victims" and "performative victims". and the distinction they make is not based on any kinda proper research, but what looks like personal opinion festering in minds of older generations probably since early 2000s. basically tvl says that people are way too sensitive and there's some kinda rational truth, while the rest is delusional. it says that "real victims" are those who were physically assaulted without any reason by strangers. "real victims" are those who were used and weren't loved. these people deserve sympathy and support and can talk about their pain in any form they want.
and then there are "performative victims": people who carry partial accountability in relationships with their family members or partners but "blame others" for harm that was done to them. therefore, idea of material power doesn't matter at all: tvl says that you have free will, so you brought that harm on yourself either by provoking someone, by treating them coldly or by staying with someone who could be dangerous to you. and the narrative not only criticizes people who position themselves as the wronged side in such relationships, it holds immense hatred for them.
"you talked about it and it's worse" is basically the main philosophy of tvl. it asks the questions: "if it was our personal relationship and we both did wrong, why you act like you're allowed to talk about harm done to you and i don't? why you think you allowed to kick me out of our shared home?". it reads to me as something very personal and very frustrated.
and obviously in this philosophy we can see some fascinating conclusions tvl makes: lestat is a victim of magnus, but he only becomes victim of gabriella when he realized she used him (otherwise "he didn't mind"). louis is not a victim of lestat and especially armand, because spousal abuse is "always mutual" and he was emotionally distant and mean, so he "deserved it". claudia is bruce's victim, but not louis' victim because she used him and hated him (so louis needs to move on from his guilt, you see). she's potentially lestat's victim, but she retaliated, so they're "even" now. daniel is not armand's victim because armand loved him. and again, what being a "victim" even means in tvl is that these people are allowed to complain and talk about their trauma, but if you aren't "real victim" you should shut up about your feelings and admit how equally selfish and awful you were.
basically, we talked a lot how much this fandom enjoys abuse apologia and victim-blaming and never realized that the biggest enemies are the writers themselves. people who found perfect time and place to voice their personal opinions on so-called modern sensibilities and wrap it up in the show about vampires (because "they're monsters!") so no one cancels them online. all that research they allegedly did on abuse wasted, i guess.
Remember how we used to run?
Give Armand a motorcycle again.

Rewatching s1 for the first time was so interesting bc you can see the real reason Louis called Daniel there is that Louis knows he has gaps in his memories.
The tapes are lacking⦠Louis knows something was missing. And thatās why Daniel is there. To help him uncover what is missing and why itās missing.
Thatās why Iām not on board with the Armand only messed with his memory that one time⦠because you can see in s2 Louis clearly forgetting that and his disagreements with Armand⦠the scene of Louis in s2e5 where heās all happy housewife with Armand smiling like š at him⦠after the argument in s2e4 was CHILLING
Armand is doing it because he thinks heās helping and to āpreserve Louis happinessā. Not evil reasons.
It was the most interesting part of Loumands dynamic
Both Armand and Lestat openly say they fell in love and entered a relationship with Louis solely because he had that sadness in his eyes you only see in eastern european gay porn but then they DARE to complain and feel scorned when he's depressed and sad all time like "damn when will this bitch have a good day" um never that's why you wanted him in the first place guys these days (19th century) want a brooding tortured prettyboy but get upset when all he does is stand in the rain and gaze at the world in despair c'mon now what did you expect...you made your bed now lie in it
