i voted hated by the nobility but i dont really think thats true. he’d be an extremely competent ruler but i think the nobility wouldnt necessarily like or hate him. he’s not going out of his way to raise a some house or other in glory but he also isnt humiliating them in court. he’d bring in stability for the realm for sure, through diplomatic or financial means, but i dont think he’d care all too much about the happiness of his subjects. this isnt to say that he’d be cruel, but i think that louis, as a leader, would put stability and contentment over happiness. pragmatic to a fault, but also he would try to slice out some measure of pleasure for himself. his laws wouldnt always make the ppl happy but in the long run they would come to acknowledge that he was sound of mind.
i dont even think he’d tax kings landing that much, if only because he knows they have little to nothing to give anyway and are a ferocious, hard-living people that adore rulers that do a little above the bare minimum. he’d reach outwards, expanding in trade oversees and having the great houses build little posts in their respective kingdoms to bring in revenue both inside and outside
he would, however, be both king and master of coin. no body else would have access to the money besides him

thinking of Louis' missing leg, which portends extreme violence to his body, and then the extreme violence of his head on a spike and his body mutilated and then the close up of the inflamed, bloody stitching on his neck during the reunion with Lestat in the season finale, not to mention the extreme violence of his burned flesh, notably in season 2, and of course the brokenness of his body before during and after the drop, coupled with his severed achilles' tendons on stage during the trial--these repetitions of violence that leave increasing damage on his body and yet he is figured as positively enduring such violence with swagger and charm, as though it is nothing, nothing at all, to keep shattering, because in the narrative, he really is figured as an object that can endure overkill again and again and again and yet this visual repetition isn't considered as abject as his *checks notes* emotional terrorism aka his inability to be a surrendering wife to agents of death, Lestat and Armand. that A carved into his chest, a brand of ownership, a means of recapturing what has escaped so Armand's sense of...whatever can be stabilized performs as metacommentary on the show's efforts to regain control of this character who has grown too unwieldy, too free, too enlivened.

Cant believe TVL had no Lestat, no Gabriella, no racism, no sexism, and was just Louis taking pregnancy tests over and over again… all of them positive.. such a cliffhanger we didn’t even get to see Jerry Springers announce who the father is… 😔
Then when Louis wasn't taking pregnancy tests, he and Lemuel were taking turns blowing each other's backs out in between art gallery visits and tango lessons. Truly a blessed season of television
It was wild! And then Claudia and Madeleine were revealed to not have died in the trial bc Armand and Lestat are lying liars who lie… and they had a beach episode-
Remember the musical number with Louis singing, surrounded by trick or treaters dressed like him?
And then Paul and Grace visited him in an actual seance and said "we're sorry we didn't understand you and we love you and we're your guardian angels now" and Lestat forgot to finish draining Miss Lily and some of his blood was under her fingernails and she drank it and then she turned Miss Bricktop and they have a coven of Black vampire women who drink up predatory white men in Louisiana and every year they celebrate Claudia's birthday with her.
Loved the twist where it turned out Michael B. Jordan was in the show as Stack and is a contender as one of the baby’s fathers. Wonderful television no notes.

Being able to draw older people as attractive without reducing or erasing the visual signs of aging, and in fact showing that they're attractive because of those signs, is an artistic skill that should be valued so much more. Honestly, it should earn you an immediate fortune because holy fuck is it a rare commodity. There are so many artists who seem to think attractiveness and aging exist in opposition to each other, so they smooth every wrinkle, erase every crease, and de-age the character until they're basically thirty with silver hair. But when an artist can look at crow's feet, smile lines, weathered skin, deep-set wrinkles, and all the little traces of a life well lived and say, "No, that's what makes them beautiful," that's a level of artistic observation and care I wish we celebrated more often.

Uh hey, IWTV fandom? I realise that the last time us South Asians were discussing this you might not have noticed, but you can't go around definitively assuming that Armand and Fareed are Muslim. Rashid, yes, almost definitely, and so Armand was performing Muslimness when he was being Rashid.
But Arun is a Hindu name. (And rather Vedic at that which further complicates the identities at hand.)
And Bhansali is a Gujarati surname, could be Sindhi maybe Rajasthani, mostly Hindu but possibly Jain. I've had fun headcanoning him as a Bombay boy with Parsi mom and Gujju dad but he could be a Karachi Sindhi Muslim...
The point being that there are no clear signs that give either of these characters a religious identity.
Which is shitty, racist writing, because it is ludicrous to write South Asians without a clear religious and caste backstory.
And they have been doing this sloppy, incoherent writing from the beginning, when they had Louis say 'alvida Dr Bhansali' and him respond with 'hamaare punah milne tak' straight out of bad Google translate. Alvida is more Urdu but punah is Sanskritised Hindi so who knows what he fuck common language the show was trying to say existed between Armand, Fareed and Louis.
This is not to take away from people's critiques of making brown men live cast a beheading etc. But they have not been stated clearly to be Muslim and it is in fact an additional proof of racist bad writing that it is unclear if they are or aren't.
