if we're talking abt both of them being human, wrt the gif, my understanding of tvl is theres a paradigm shift after the wolf incident & lestat's provider role is reflected in the new power dynamics & so id say at that stage: yes. i was pondering to no avail the viability of a situation like this but if we're throwing the mechanics of their meeting out the window then being in love w his mother would never stop lestat from pursuing louis, obviously, and i even think they wld have enough in common for it to go smoother than it did in canon where lestat killed multiple ppl in louis' circle. paris era pre-magnus though i think lestat needs a first wife who died and left him feeling horribly guilty to be able to pursue louis seriously. no love lost for nicki by me but he is essential to lestat's character and facilitating the leslou romance. but who am i kidding lestat cld pursue louis before any of this happened, still under his father's thumb, and they wld still probably find joy in sinking into roles afforded to them by each other alone and no one else in their lives, louis previously forced to carry authority that lestat rather would. ive mostly talked abt possibilities of their union as opposed to the nature of specific interactions in au because i really do not think that would change greatly because they would still want with each other what they do in canon.
