regarding mina the hollower and difficulty because i feel like im going crazy…

this game gives you so many tools to make the game easier and i’m not talking about the modifiers. there are tons of extremely powerful trinkets that make the game significantly easier. the game points you in a direction of the next appropriate location difficulty wise with the newspapers. there are a bunch of different weapons you can try that might suit your playstyle better. you don’t immediately lose all your bones on death, and if you’re afraid of losing them by dying again, you can go spend them on something that will make your life easier. bones are everywhere and the game expects you to use them!!!

i know that i’m in the extreme minority in terms of experience with this sort of game. i’ve played the zelda oracle games many times. i’m a big zelda fan in general and grew up playing them. i’m a fan of difficult games (see: all of my silksong posts) and have learned a lot of the methods for making them easier. but genuinely i think that if you are paying attention to what the game is asking of you and not beating your head against a wall, it’s extremely manageable. this game has not been even close to as tough as something like silksong which i keep seeing it compared to, and i’m tired of seeing claims that it’s unfair or badly designed when the only way i could imagine that being the case for someone is if they’re not engaging with it in the way it’s asking you to.

#I actually popped over to the subreddit and found some people complaining about the modifiers themselves #because it means the game has ‘artificial difficulty’ and wasn’t balanced to begin with #which I think is both incredibly unfair #AND the reason why Soulsborne fans like myself are generally against the idea of an easy mode #there is no winning with some people #some things ARE a skill issue (you will not see my ass fighting the Promised Consort Radahn anytime soon) and that’s okay #and some things are you needing to engage with the game #I actually stopped in the middle of E33 because I was stuck on a boss and wasn’t engaged with the story enough to keep grinding #but I’ll also spend 8 hours playing Hades #it’s all about finding things that you want to engage in #instead of getting mad that others are having fun (including with modifiers and mods!!)#mina the hollower
