Nothing particularly NSFW happens here. I have published my prompt lists a couple days back and my friend was kind enough to pick a combination for the bunny lord. :3

The sheets to his left rustled, cool skin brushing against his as she curled into him. “Kenshin, I’m cold…” his lover grumbled, still half asleep after her nap. Without thinking of it much, he turned onto his side, his arms pulling her in closer. Kenshin brushed her hair back, few strand having clung to her face, still damp from when he washed it for her. Their legs entwined, Mai hummed in contentment, listening to each careful beat of his heart.

♡ summary: sometimes memories of the past will continue to linger rent-free in former emperor’s minds. luckily for napoleon, he has his nunuche to remind him of the man he is now.

♡ warnings: mentions of violence, murder & trauma, but nothing more extreme than what we already have in canon.

♡ notes: one morning i woke up with moonlight by ariana grande playing in my head, and i couldn’t stop thinking about how the concept of moonlight (the light itself, not the song) fits napoleon & MC’s relationship—might have something to do with the fact that the first time they had Sexy Times it was up in the garret and the narration said something like ‘i was dressed in nothing but moonlight’. anyway this is some good old fluff bc god knows i need some fluff, especially of my best boi napoleon, after all the bittersweet pining fests & filthy smut i’ve been churning out.

These days, it’s rare for Napoleon to not sleep like a log through the night. In fact, he has become quite infamous in the mansion for his befuddling circadian rhythm—sleeping all the way till noon and sometimes still being able to fit an afternoon siesta in his schedule if he’s not busy running his mini-school in the city or doing bodyguard gigs for some rich socialites.

However, there are some nights where traces from the past jolt him awake. In a way, it is rather reminiscent of how his nights were in his first life, except then he was plagued not by nightmares but by the very real prospect of being killed in his sleep.

Tonight is one of those nights. The stench of spilled blood and the pained cries of his enemies and his men alike have invaded his peaceful rest, sending his body on high-alert before he regains his bearings and remembers where he is. On nights like these, it’s like he’s back there on the cold emperor’s throne, bearing the whole weight of France on his shoulders and not being able to share it with another—for anyone could turn around and stab him in the back if it meant getting one step closer to achieving their personal ambitions. He had to sleep with one eye open, because even his guards could betray him while he slumbered.

♡ summary: even after losing his beloved nunuche, napoleon still holds on to hope that he will see her again, with the memories left behind in the pages she once wrote in.

♡ notes: this was inspired by a slowed & reverbed version of photograph by ed sheeran that i found on youtube. the lines “and if you hurt me, that’s okay baby only words bleed / inside these pages you just hold me, and i won’t ever let you go” have always stood out to me and i’ve always wanted to write something based on them. so to give my beloved beta time to catch up on the last fic of my jean royalty AU, i decided to whip this lil thing up. enjoy 💙 (and have tissues nearby Just In Case lmao)

The words his beloved nunuche had once spoken to him an eternity ago—Napoleon still holds on to them, even after all the decades that have crawled by since her passing. They are the one thing that has kept him going after all this time, through the grief that has left an aching chasm where his heart once lay.

No matter how much time has passed, the pain never really gets easier to bear. But he knows she wouldn’t want him to bear the clouds of a never-ending storm on his face, so every morning he grits his teeth and reminds himself he has to survive this. His vampirism gives him little choice otherwise, anyway.

His mind still recalls the sight of her lying on her deathbed. Her small fingers curled around his, desperately clinging to him even as her illness stole away more and more of her strength. The paleness in her once pink and full lips, the gauntness in her once lively face, the pain wracking her body with each breath she takes… What would he not have given up to save her? He was once a soldier and an emperor; he once held an entire continent in the palm of his hand; he rode with his army into odds stacked against them and came out victorious. Yet the one time his strength and brilliance were needed, he couldn’t do anything for her. No one, not even Arthur who had been a doctor once upon a time, could do anything to save her. All he could do was stay by her side day after day, hold her hand, and tell her he loved her every minute in case she was no longer here in the next.

Kenshin x MC Angst Warnings: death, death of a lover, war, self-loathing.

I closed my eyes and this sort of just appeared. 

There was something about happiness Kenshin never got to taste. As such, he didn’t quite understand it nor the drive to achieve it, the entire feeling filling him more so with unease rather than joy – why chase after something momentary if all that was to come after was bitter woe? He didn’t comprehend it. He couldn’t have.

To put it simply, his happiness was always a prelude to a greater sorrow, a letter of warning, fate being the sender and he – the addressee. Why was he so beloved by heavens? He didn’t know either… Although he grew to believe it was more so a cruel curse, something both hideous and twisted at its very core. Why else torture him like so?

It seemed his only usability was in being a tool. The God of War, they hailed him – and truthfully, he didn’t oppose. What else could he bring into this world? He was not a protector, not a reformer, not a conqueror. He was war. He was destruction, he was misery, he was blood-soaked soil, he was the clash of armour and swords, he was powder and smoke rising from the riffles – he was the human death of sorts, as he both died and brought death, both while killing and involuntarily refusing to be killed.

There was something about happiness Kenshin never got to taste. He wished he never even got the faintest idea of what the feeling by itself was. He was beautiful,  otherwordly so, he was aware – and he cursed his face, his fingers curling around hers. Perhaps if he was as hideous as he perceived himself to be, perhaps if his affliction was visible, if death marked him abundantly, perhaps… If only he weren’t this special kind of flower, luring its pray with the most delicious nectar only to gently suck out its life… Perhaps…

Only if…

Only if this happiness never started…

Onami & Ginchiyo: sisters; almost identical twins - Ginchiyo has blue eyes while Onami has green ones; Kenshin considers it a miracle they survived, both being born in a rather weak state. He was terrified ever since he had learnt his wife was carrying more than one child, a multiple pregnancy being an extremely high risk; inseparable at first, still very close to each other later on in life, tend to work together; they oftentimes get an odd gut feeling when the other one is in danger; Onami tends to play out the role of the decoy while Ginchiyo executes the plan; Onami is the physically weaker one, although she is better with words - both in expressing herself and in using them to her advantage. She’s outwardly affectionate, later in life may seem flirtatious and loud. Meanwhile, Ginchiyo tends to be rather reserved with her feelings. She does care a lot, and shows it mostly with action; While Onami knows how to play koto and was trained in basics of self-defense, Ginchiyo has terrible ear for music - and a very good instinct for battle. She can wield weapons, although she prefers hand-to-hand combat (and hits like a truck). 

Kenshin did his best not to be overprotective of them. However, he insisted they learn how to defend themselves - and if needed be, how to treat simple injuries, if it was ever necessary. 

Knowing his extended family may feel entitled to lives of his children, Kenshin made sure to present one thing clearly: he would not allow it. Ever.

Overall, he learnt to allow them to explore the world on their own, eventually even joining them happily. Despite being initially uncertain about Ginchiyo’s desire to learn how to fight, he warmed up to the idea fast, then sparring with her. Her sword is a present from him. 

However, it doesn’t mean he isn’t worried about them at times - about Onami, because her health could have been better, and about Ginchiyo, because he is well aware how sensitive she can be.

When they were little, he withdrew from wars almost completely, his wife sometimes jokingly complaining he turned into a mother hen. Truth be told, he just wanted to spend as much time as possible with them - not because of fear, but because of love.
