I really liked it. No joke, there couldn’t have been a different ending. Yeah, it wasn’t as bleak as many expected, but sorry — I would’ve been disappointed if they’d gone with that total darkness everyone was waiting for. The characters went through a titanic journey. To give them a bad ending just to please fans? In my opinion, everyone got the redemption arc they could have. Too saccharine for some? Honestly, I think otherwise.
1. Homelander got the ending he deserved.
2. Hughie got the ending he deserved.
3. Butcher, Kimiko, M.M.
4. Everyone’s arc was completed.
NOW, SPOILERS. This is just my interpretation, you don’t have to agree
SO, YOU DUMB FUCKING MORONS WHO SAY: "Why was Homelander begging so pathetically? Where’s his confidence? 🥺🥺🥺"
DID YOU WATCH THE SHOW WITH YOUR ASSES? TELL ME, YOU BLOCKHEADS. YOU UTTER IDIOTS. THROUGH EVERY SINGLE SEASON, THEY SHOWED YOU ONE IMPORTANT FACT: HE. IS. PATHETIC.
And let’s state one most important fact: without his superpowers, he is NOBODY. He’s a man with no destiny if he weren’t a supe. Someone might say: "Well, it’s not his fault!"
I don’t disagree — he was raised that way, in cruelty, etc. But why the fuck are ordinary citizens to blame, the ones who died "because Homelander felt sad"? I’m so done. He couldn’t even do anything to Butcher — because he doesn’t really know how to fight. He relied entirely on his superpowers. That’s it. That’s Homelander. No more, no less. He died a pathetic man, just like he was throughout the entire series.
The Deep… Yeah, I think everyone expected this ending. Honestly, I thought they’d give him at least some kind of redemption scene. Like, it would’ve been cool if he died but did something good at the last moment. But nope — died like an idiot. I don’t think I even need to explain.
Frenchie. Here I want to say something I’ve kept quiet about for a long time. Guys, he was in a polyamorous relationship that also included a guy. Are you seriously surprised he’s bi? Yeah, maybe season 4 made it a bit too obvious, but I wanted to say this because I’ve seen so many people complain about it. Suck a dick.
Now, about his death. It was the most unfair, yet understandable death. Let’s be honest — compared to the others (except A-Train), he died a truly heroic death. For his loved one. I’m glad he died exactly like that. But I feel sorry for Kimiko. The most undeserved death, and the most beautiful one. And his funeral… holy shit 😭. But okay, I laughed my ass off.
Butcher. Billy Butcher. My favorite. My absolute favorite character. Some say he died quickly and meaninglessly. But that ending? We were already being hinted at it, weren’t we? He saw a little brother in Hughie, and they also told us that people died because of Butcher. They talked about HUGHIE. I’m saying — they basically hinted with neon signs whose hands Billy would die by. So I’m not surprised. In a way, I’m even glad (but fuck, as a shipper of this ship, I sobbed like three rivers — but I’m waiting for sad fanfics, maybe I’ll write something myself).
And finally, Hughie himself. Nothing to say — just amazing character growth right before our eyes.
BUT NAMING YOUR KID AFTER YOUR EX-GIRLFRIEND? AAAAAAGHGHHH WHAT THE FUCK. THAT IS SUCH A DUMB MOVE. LIKE NAMING GEORGE WEASLEY’S SON FRED 😭😭😭
Honestly, that’s the strangest thing ever. In my opinion, they should’ve named the kid after Hughie’s father — that would’ve been more dramatic and beautiful.
What do you think? You don’t have to agree with me — different people, different opinions. And about the insults: keep in mind, that’s just hyperbole. I’m not attacking specific people, just the image I saw online. Again, I’m not insulting YOU personally — I’m insulting those who genuinely didn’t understand Homelander but foam at the mouth saying "HOMELANDER WOULD NEVER TALK LIKE THAT."
