Demisexuality isnāt a sexuality. Only feeling sexually attracted to someone when you have an emotional bond is a normal thing. Itās literally just a healthy relationship with someone. Itās how most relationships work. Most girls (or guys) wonāt have sex with someone unless they actually love them. Iām not saying your feelings are invalid, because Iām like this too. Iām just saying itās not a sexuality, and it shouldnāt be part of the LGBT community.
Imagine being so confident with a statement, while simultaneously being so wrong...
Stop making every little thing a sexuality. Youāre missing my point and I already said that Iām not invalidating the feeling. Iām saying it shouldnāt be considered a sexuality. This is basically the definition of someone who wants a longterm loving relationship. Oh a girl wants to get to know someone before she commits to sex? Yeah.. thatās just wanting a healthy normal relationship. Not a sexuality.
No, I'm not missing you're point. I'm just loudly disagreeing with it. Sexuality is a spectrum, and being only sexually attracted to someone youre within a relationship with isnt "normal" or the default.
Not everyone is *only* attracted to someone they're dating. Do you think people who have one night stands are not sexually attracted to the people they sleep with?
Do you think the people who lose the attraction to someone when they date are broken?
Theres a reason why theres a spectrum, and theres a reason such terms exist. If you dont feel they fit, fine. Move on, because other people very much use it as an identifier.
And the fact you think it is the usual just implies thay youre on the list of people that can and *do* claim the title of demisexual...
I understand sexuality is a spectrum, and thatās why some people are ace and some people only have sex just for the sake of it, (like one night stands) but that doesnāt put them on a sexuality spectrum. Just because person A has sex with someone once and doesnāt feel anything or person B doesnāt feel any sexual attraction until they have a bond, doesnāt mean suddenly they have to be labeled. People see a character in a show not showing love to someone and suddenly everyone is like āomg theyāre ace.ā Or āomg theyāre demisexualā No, thatās just their personality. And Iām sure itās only them who think this way. No one in the writers room of that show is thinking theyāre on the sexuality spectrum because theyāre just writing them as a character whoās learning to develop feelings for another character. Which is how people usually act. And please, donāt speak for me because you donāt know me. And stop putting sexualities on me where it doesnāt fit. Me wanting to create an emotional bond with someone before I get sexually involved with them isnāt Demi. Itās me wanting to be in a relationship with someone and get to know them before I move forward. Whatās next? Dating someone is a sexuality too? Marrying someone is a sexuality? Deciding whether you want kids or not is also a sexuality? I donāt like olives. Is that a sexuality too?
Lol.
Firstly, I stated if you didnt feel it fitted you, then you should move on. I also stated that if you class demisexuality as *normal* behaviour, it *implies* that you fit the label. Nowhere did I state you *are*, thus I didnt put any label on you.
Also, the fact you say not to put labels on you, but have the nerve -- in pretty much the same breath -- to invalidate and attempt to dictate what other people should or should not be able to state to define their own sexuality is ridiculous.
The fact that they *are* a part of the sexual spectrum, shows that many people believe them to be a part of it -- including myself. Ace/greyace/demi sexuality/Aegosexuality (I think that's how its pronounced, anyway). Well, its *all* a part of sexuality. Which is why it should and *is* a part of the sexuality spectrum.
Thirdly, have you ever thought thay someone goes, "Omg, they're ace!" because the character is, you know, ace.... š (Like the new Sherlock... I'm pretty sure hes been confirmed as Ace by the writers.) And speaking as a writer, I very much do include characters sexuality in my notes, and theres nothing at all wrong with that, or having characters that have different levels of sexual or romantic drive.
Giant lol though. Anything to do with sexuality and sex can be to do with a persons sexuality or the spectrum of sexual attraction....
Is marriage tied with a person sexual attraction? Is an olive?
Seriously, how to say your trashy, without saying your trashy.
As if being Demisexual or Ace is in anyway as ridiculous or comparable to "frogsexual" or a reason why gay rights were a fight to win.
The reason Gay and Trans rights were and still are a fight to win is because of bigots...
BIGOTS. Not aces. Not Demisexual. Dang.
