I like when someone invents a new and disturbing way to Decorate Wrong
once you realize you don’t actually need to sleep, you can really (stops talking abruptly and stares straight ahead for 4 minutes)
Anti-Chomskyan masterpost
Sticking this up as a compilation (ever expanding) of all the material I've read and would recommend you read to get a handle on the criticisms of the linguistic ideas of Chomsky. This isn't just intended to be a criticism of Chomsky personally, but also the manner of linguistics that he engendered (basically anyone that uncritically cites Chomsky as a source on the nature of language). I have ordered these by date of publication in an effort to get across how long this has been around for.
I've tried to find publically accessible links where possible, but unfortunately not everything is so available even though it should be, so I've linked in some cases to JSTOR or similar (you might be able to get a copy if you e.g. request through researchgate but that might be it if you can't get Sci-Hub to work). Also, I've not directly linked to any PDF files, so for some of these you might have to do a little crawling through a long list of publications to find them, though that should be easier given these things are usually ordered by year, a piece of information I've given you.
I do expect to be adding to this post, so expect regular updates, as well as it being pinned on my blog.

Conversation with a Native Son: Maya Angelou and James Baldwin
Always thinking about how Claudia was the best vampire of them all. Everyone's constantly projecting their immortal angst onto her and calling her fragile and volatile and doomed. And yet, she's the least tortured by her nature as a vampire. While the people around her stagnate and accept and self destruct over their damned souls, she's so rooted in tangibly improving her immortal life. She wants freedom, she wants belonging, she wants love. The rest is irrelevant, a biological fact of her vampire body. Claudia Eparvier you would have lived forever, actually, truly lived an immortal life
As you said in your tags, in Madeleine she found someone with a similar mentality.
It's something that I think the existentialism of the series and the weight of Louis's pondering can distract from, but the thing is we cannot be strong all the time. To be strong all the time, in the face of the weight and anxiety of the world and our place in it (emphasized by the Marginalized and Othered framework the vampires operate in) is exhausting.
Claudia IS the best vampire. She isn't bogged down by the morality of her existence. She's hungry, so she wants food. She has fangs, and she wants to show them off. She wants the respect and joy in being The Vampire Claudia.
What she DOES struggle with is how her existence as a vampire creates a cage of societally imposed marginalized intersections. I'll definitely be talking about this in more detail in a post analyzing the postcolonial framework of her character, but Claudia's struggles with being a vampire are ALL external, and what they tell her her future is worth. To handle that, she has to be strong against the weight of what people see when they look at her (a teenager, a black girl, a disabled vampire).
So Madeleine, whose life philosophy and advice says, "yes, be angry! Blow up! Show that strength isn't about taking the weight, but having the knowledge that one blow up is not the end of the story!" This means that Claudia can change the framework of the endurance of being a vampire into one that allows weakness. Blowing up and needing something to be different doesn't have to mean throwing yourself into the fire, it can mean yelling and screaming and crying and throwing something through a window, because the glass can be cleaned up and the tears can dry and the damage doesn't have to be ugly.
And that means a lot to Claudia, who at that time needed a reminder of what made her strong enough to kill Lestat and fight for her and Louis's independence. She doesn't have to pretend to be fine with mockery, she's a proud Black vampire who doesn't have to just take the abuse in stride. She doesn't have to choose to perform as child or an adult to deserve respect, she is disabled in her ability to be one or the other and she deserves to be able to handle that life on her own terms. That is what it means to be disabled, not a child or childish in their abilities, but someone who requires some aid to function, and that is not something that determines whether she's a good vampire or not.
Claudia's struggle is that the world wasn't ready for her, and that's on the world and not on her.

i genuinely can't fucking deal with the larger internet anymore holy shit what the fuck are you people TALKING about. i am at my limit with this stupid bullshit. who the fuck cares if a man is hired to draw medical diagrams for young girls jesus christ we're pearl clutching about medical illustrations now? next you're gonna tell me male pediatricians shouldn't advise parents on their kids' vulva issues? male surgeons shouldn't be in the room when performing a procedure where a woman's breasts or vulva might be exposed? male researchers shouldn't conduct gynecological medical research? sure. better for men to live in ignorance and NEVER ally themselves with us to expand access to sexual education and reproductive healthcare i fucking guess. Twenty thousand likes. i hate it here KILL ME

really losing my patience for any 'feminist' statement to the tune of 'we need feminism because women fill a fundamentally different and necessary role than men and will be better at doing x y or z'. like actually i think we need feminism because it is an unbearable death of the spirit by inches to exist in a world where you are not seen as a fully realized human being because of a single cultural determination, and because a world that enshrines such things creates systems that are fundamentally sick to the core
