I love Aeng-du's... main character energy? if that makes sense? like she's actually had it for a while, she feels kinda like she could be a YA book protagonist, and i mean that as a compliment. and if Distortion Detective is ever re-done or spun off, for one, I hope Aeng-du is still working with them, and two, she could honestly work pretty well as a viewpoint character. yes, she has this established history and baggage with the Blade Lineage and Kim, far from a blank slate, but her Ishmael ID uptie brings up the gaps in her knowledge, both in terms of City stuff and Distortions, so she'd still make a really good vessel for the players/readers to learn new stuff. plus. she's an honorable cyborg swordswoman. who wouldn't want to play as her?!
also love the bringing up of similarities between Aeng-du and Don Quixote: taking care of and genuinely loving/appreciating your fathermentor figure while also having to deal with their unique... eccentricities. and you use old time-y speech.

Synopsis: A former school maths teacher who retained memories of her horrific past-lives on the WARP Trains she travelled to work each day on, she sought out to enlighten the world to the truth of W-Corp, only to be silenced for her insubordination. Discovering a singularity of an unknown colour that had the ability to reanimate material, he would grow obsessed with its potential for reviving the dead. Now a monster of his own design, he seeks cold, hard retribution

Kim "Saja", also known as the Color Fixer Black Haze, holds the position of driver at LCFT. He operates a hearse named "Thanatos."
His powers are a necessity for the alternate revival ritual: the process established at LCFT is a symbiosis of Walsingham's E.G.O. abilities and Kim Cheolsu's Relic, Yeomra-wang's Incense Burner, where achieving the desired result alone is impossible. Walsingham, using his E.G.O., keeps the soul of the deceased in a borderline state at the "Feast," preventing the Gate from closing. Kim Saja employs the Incense Burner, exhaling smoke that envelops the dead body and knits together mortal wounds, returning the soul back into the body. The person comes back to life as if nothing had happened β thus, the fact of death is essentially "erased," serving as a loophole within the Taboo.
Some facts about him:
Able to dissolve his own body into smoke. He uses this for quick movement or evasion in combat.
Thanatos is equipped with an AI-based voice navigation system, which Kim "Saja" uses to orient himself on the roads. He named the system Echo and often talks to it.
Completely imperturbable and at the same time fatalistic β he reacts to almost everything with incredible calmness.
He is quite clumsy in ordinary everyday situations. This trait has been with him since birth, which, combined with his imperturbability, creates an interesting effect.
Inspired by Polish folk dresses.... But I may have gotten the details wrong, sorry... I really just wanted to draw Chetwyn in a pretty dress though, and I thought that the colour scheme fits perfectly with Sanguine Desire. I didn't put in the rib bones even though they look very cool, because I don't like it. I like the teeth though so I kept it in.

This Abnormality admittedly stumped me. It's tied with Pink Shoes, and the idea that you're being possessed to giving into your desires. I think it fairly made sense to give to Rodya and Chetwyn, as they have in the past fallen to temptations of short term relief to catatrosphic results. But I think the underlying motive that's being exploited here is the desire to temporarily shut out everyone else. "It's my shoes and I deserve to wear it", to justify the mistake you made. It's erasing everything about you, defining you only by its will to inflict more violence and cause bloodshed. You merely wanted a pretty pair of shoes, and you were so willing to put it on that you didn't care of what was going to happen.
It's designated O, meaning it's probably a physical object in the City, that has wills of its own. There's not really a moral of the story here, the shoes are just evil, don't wear them.
Bwah. I haven't even drawn the abnormality yet, getting straight into EGO NOW!! This is Chetwyn's seasonal EGO, based on Solovey-Razboynik (eng title on wiki is Nightingale the Robber).
Long stuff here:
The story itself is very interesting, Solovey is a half bird half man creature, that whenever it whistles, people drop dead in mass, earning it the rightful placement of ALEPH. The only one to survive its song is Ilya Muromets, a folk hero, who shot an arrow through its eye and brought it back to Vladimir, the prince of Kiev. The prince wished to hear Solovey sing, but it claimed to be too wounded to sing. After giving it some wine, Solovey whistled, and brought death to the entire castle. In the end, Ilya had taken it out into a field and beheaded it.
This abnormality represents a kind of helplessness to cause destruction and death, despite its beauty. The only person who can stand to be near it is also the one who has to put it down. Still, it desires to live, so it tricked the prince while knowing it would condemn everyone to die if it sang. Is it self defense? Perhaps it was, when the prince could have kept it in a cage forever for his amusement. That's why I feel like the EGO name is double sided, like the butterfly I depict it as.
Design wise, I wanted to keep the nightingale parts for Shou, who also resonates with this Abnormality. Why this butterfly in particular? It's identified as Azerbaijani blue (Polyommatus aserbeidschanus). I looked up Russian butterflies and found them with the article that quoted "...when the scientists looked at them under a microscope, it became clear that they had 46 chromosomes β a very unusual number for this group of the blue butterflies and exactly the same count as in humans."
LIKE ??? A butterfly that has the same chromosomes as humans? That sound so oddly fucked up. And it's so pretty to boot. One side is azure blue while the other is mint and gold... I decided that it has to represent the dualism of this abnormality. Also the flower that grows on the tree is based on the astralagus species, which their larvae are known to feed on.
I made an alternate version where red butterflies are swarming him.... I broke my hand drawing this but it didn't look good to me so I scrapped it. That's life....... The butterfly here is Aglais Io. It took so much precision to get right... But I fear that's why it's a huge distraction.
Maybe it helps to keep it minimal. The butterflies here represents Ilya Muromets, another ALEPH Abnormality to pair with this. It will go to Ermine and Huin, representing their conflicted emotions as they slay these monsters in their way.
