The kitchen in our Bennington House was dark and very dirty. We put in LED lights, reinstalled a light above the sink where the hole had been covered up with masking tape, painted the walls and ceiling, and cleaned, cleaned, cleaned. • Again, we used Wales Gray by Benjamin Moore on the walls. • We replaced the faucet, the hood vent and replaced the gas stove with an electric one. To save money, we kept the cabinets, flooring and fridge. • The LED lights made such a huge difference. The lighter paint color and the cleaning also did wonders. The space has a completely different vibe now. When we took up a layer of linoleum in one of the bedroom closets at the Bennington House, we found a layer of old newspapers. The funny thing about it was that a gas pipe had been put into the closet, and the pipe went right through the papers. The Bennington Banner was dated June 13, 1955. We never really showed much of the finished first floor apartment of our Bennington house. At the time we ended up getting put in touch with a potential tenant and we had to work like crazy to get the apartment done. It came out great, and now that I’ve got a little extra time, I’ll be showing some before and after pics. * * This is the living room and the main entrance to the apartment. Swipe to see the “before”. The changes were so dramatic. There was so much nicotine staining. There were also stains from a faulty furnace, which made the ceilings black. We used Benjamin Moore paint in Wales Gray throughout the first floor. Such a beautiful color and this is a great example of what paint can do. No fancy composter here! Our compost pile is just that - a pile of leaves, vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, tea bags, eggshells, and other stuff. It’s horribly neglected by me. I just turned it over for the first time since the fall.
